Creative Word Doctrine
The doctrine that each truth Jesus manifests to the listening soul is “a new creation that I make” — not informing about a reality outside her but creating in her the reality it expresses — distinguished from the mute language of created things (which are shadows of divine attributes: “Love made the shadow of my light overflow from my interior, and I created the sun”) by being “the substance of the goods I contain within Me” delivered with “clear, sonorous and eloquent voice”: “since my word is creative, like a new creation create in the soul the truths I manifest. If with one Fiat I created many things, in manifesting my truths it is not just one Fiat that I pronounce, but as many words for as many as are needed” — built on the direct extension of the creative Fiat (Genesis 1:3: God speaks and what is named comes to be — one Fiat created the material universe; multiple truth-disclosures create a more intimate interior creation in the soul), with the creation-as-shadow contrast specified by Colossians 2:17 (shadows vs. substance: created things are shadows, truths are substance) and Psalm 19:1-4 (creation’s mute language vs. truths’ eloquent voice); the NT apex in John 6:63 (“the words I have spoken to you are spirit and life” — words that create spirit and life in the receiver) and 2 Corinthians 4:6 (God shining light into hearts as the interior form of the primordial creative Fiat — the same Fiat now applied interiorly); the structural ground in Isaiah 55:10-11 (the word not returning empty but accomplishing what it was sent to do — each manifested truth creates what it expresses) and Hebrews 4:12 (the word of God living and active, creating within); and the Logos-theology of John 1:1-3 as the ultimate ground: the Incarnate Word who spoke all created things into being now speaks truths that create the soul’s interior, with Isaiah 43:19 (“I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth”) as the prophetic witness to the inexhaustible novelty of divine disclosure — God as “the act ever new which never repeats itself” always desiring to say more because that newness is never exhausted.
