Other Sanctities as Shadow Doctrine
The doctrine that all sanctifying goods outside the Divine Will — virtues, sacramental graces, spiritual gifts, and the benefits of Redemption and Sanctification — are shadows cast by the Divine Will as their source of light: “the other sanctities are the shadows of my Divine Life, while my Will is the source of the Divine Life.” For souls outside the DW these goods function as remedy and medicine restoring what sin damaged; but for the soul who takes the DW as the prime point of creation they function as glory and special inheritance — the same goods transformed in ontological character depending on whether the soul has taken the source rather than the shadow: “for one who lives in my Will, all these goods serve not as remedy, as for those who do not do my Will, but as glory and as special inheritance.” (E)
