Jesus’ Comprehensive-Tears Doctrine
The doctrine that Jesus undertook from the first instant of his Conception to his last breath on the Cross a comprehensive and vicarious assumption of every tear every creature would shed — “there is not one tear that arises on the human eye, which I did not shed from my eyes… in order to complete the number of tears of all creatures” — each category of creaturely tear taken on by him for a specific redemptive purpose: extinguishing passions, enabling godly sorrow after sin, moving souls to compassion, electrifying love for God, and ultimately sanctification and divinization of the creature.
