Blessing-Sign-of-Cross Doctrine
The doctrine that every blessing confirms the divine likeness established at Creation, calling back “the first act of Creation” over the creature; that in blessing the Trinitarian formula of Baptism is re-invoked to call the DW to return to its original reign in souls; and that the sign of the Cross is the creature’s echoing response — both pronouncing the same Trinitarian words and wanting the same thing (God to give the likeness, the creature to impetrate it) — so that “without knowing it, the Church and all the faithful harmonize with the eternal Creator.” (E)
