23-1928-01-29 Biblical Resonance Analysis
Volume 23 — January 29, 1928 “Immense value of the writings on the Divine Will. How they are characters transmitted by the Celestial Fatherland. How they will lay siege to the human will. Desire of the Heart of Jesus. His acts, an army asking for the Kingdom of the Fiat.”
STAGE ONE — Independent Biblical Identification
The Writings as Living Documents — Characters of the Celestial Fatherland
“I felt such impression, as if I would see a divine life, alive and palpitating, flowing in the written words… ‘My daughter… these writings… have the virtue of communicating the Life of It, palpitating and all celestial, to those who will read these writings… These writings are suns impressed with characters of most refulgent light in the walls of the Celestial Fatherland, and they form the most beautiful ornament of those walls of the eternal city, in which all the Blessed remain enraptured and amazed in reading the characters of the Supreme Will.‘”
John 1:1–4, 14 — “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. … In him was life, and the life was the light of men. … The Word became flesh and lived among us.” The writings that carry “a divine life, alive and palpitating” participate in the category of the living Word: as the eternal Word of God is life and light, so the writings that transmit the DW’s own heartbeat carry the same life and light in a new mode of embodiment. Christological/Trinitarian
Hebrews 4:12 — “For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” The written word’s living and active quality is precisely what Luisa perceives in Volume 20: the writings are not static records but carry the DW’s operative and penetrating power. Direct doctrinal parallel
Revelation 21:10–11, 23 — “He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; The city has no need for the sun or moon to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it and its lamp is the Lamb.” The celestial city with its glory-light corresponds to the “walls of the Celestial Fatherland” in which the writings are impressed as suns of refulgent light. The Blessed being enraptured in reading the characters of the Supreme Will in those walls corresponds to the New Jerusalem’s inhabitants in the light of God’s glory. Typological
Revelation 3:12 — “He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he will go out from there no more. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from my God, and my own new name.” The divine writing of names in the eternal city — God inscribing his own characters on those who overcome — is the OT-NT archetype of the writings as “characters… impressed… in the walls of the Celestial Fatherland.” Typological
2 Timothy 3:16 — “Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness,” The DW writings as “doctrine all of Heaven” written under divine dictation participate in the theopneustos quality — the living breath of God impressed in characters. Direct doctrinal parallel
Wisdom 7:26–27 — “For she is a reflection of everlasting light, an unspotted mirror of the working of God, and an image of his goodness. Although she is one, she has power to do all things. Remaining in herself, she renews all things. From generation to generation passing into holy souls, she makes friends of God and prophets.” The writings as “suns of most refulgent light” participate in the Wisdom-tradition of the divine light that reflects and renews: each reading renews the reader because the DW’s “vivifying heartbeat” is impressed within the characters. Affective/meditative
Isaiah 30:8 — “Now go, write it before them on a tablet, and inscribe it in a book, that it may be for the time to come forever and ever.” The divine command to write for future generations as a permanent witness is the OT prophetic archetype of the DW writings: given in one time, their witness extends to all future ages. Typological
The DW Suffocated by the Human Will — The Writings as Liberation
“‘My Will is palpitating in the midst of creatures, but It lives suffocated by the human will. These writings will make Its heartbeat felt so strongly, that It will suffocate the human will and will take Its first place of life which is due to It, because my Will is the heartbeat and the life of all Creation.‘”
Revelation 3:20 — “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me.” The DW palpitating in the midst of creatures but suffocated by the human will is the experiential form of this verse: the DW is already present, knocking, unable to enter because the human will keeps the door closed. The writings are the force that opens the door by making the knocking heard. Direct doctrinal parallel
Romans 8:19–22 (translation pending) — “The creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God… the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.” The DW palpitating-but-suffocated is the interior counterpart of creation’s inarticulate groaning: the divine life is already present in all creation as its heartbeat, but the human will’s suffocation keeps it from its “first place.” Direct doctrinal parallel
John 8:32, 36 — “the truth will make you free.” … If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.” The writings that will “eclipse the human will” and “take Its first place” are carriers of the truth that liberates: the DW suffocated by the human will is freed when its truth is received. Direct doctrinal parallel
Luke 12:49 — “I came to throw fire on the earth. I wish it were already kindled.” Jesus’ ardent desire for the Kingdom’s fire to be cast — the burning urgency he cannot contain — is the precise experiential counterpart of his pressing Luisa to write: it was “about the most important thing,” the echo of Heaven he wants to form upon earth. Affective/meditative
The Writings as Celestial Army — Siege, Healing, Resurrection
“‘These writings on my Supreme Fiat, by the strength of Its light, will eclipse the human will; they will be balm to the human wounds, they will be opium to all that is earth; passions will feel themselves die, and from their death will rise again the life of Heaven in the midst of creatures. They will be the true celestial army which, while laying siege to the human will and to all the evils produced by it, will make peace, the lost happiness, the Life of my Will, rise again in the midst of creatures. The siege which they will lay will cause no harm to anyone, because my Will is to lay siege to the human will so that it may no longer tyrannize the poor creatures, but may leave them free in the Kingdom of my Will.‘”
Wisdom 18:14–16 — “For while peaceful silence wrapped all things, and night in her own swiftness was half spent, your all-powerful word leaped from heaven, from the royal throne, a stern warrior, into the midst of the doomed land, bearing as a sharp sword your authentic commandment, and standing, it filled all things with death, and while it touched the sky it stood upon the earth.” The all-powerful Word leaping from the heavenly throne as a divine warrior is the OT archetype of the writings as celestial army: the Word-as-celestial-army comes from the Celestial Fatherland to do battle against what holds creation captive, without destroying those it liberates. Typological
Ezekiel 37:1–10 (paraphrase) — The valley of dry bones brought to life by the breath of the Spirit: “I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live… and the breath came into them, and they lived.” The pattern of “from their death will rise again the life of Heaven” is the Ezekiel dry-bones sequence: the death of passions through the writings’ siege corresponds to the drying of dead bones; the rising of the life of Heaven corresponds to the Spirit-breath bringing life where only death existed. Typological
Romans 6:4–5 — “We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection;” The death-and-resurrection pattern of the writings’ effect — passions dying, the life of Heaven rising again — is the baptismal theology of Romans 6: the writings operate as a kind of ongoing baptismal dying-and-rising within those who read them. Direct doctrinal parallel
Galatians 5:1 — “Stand firm therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and don’t be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” The “siege without harm” that liberates “the poor creatures” from the “tyrannizing human will” is the Galatian freedom: the DW through the writings doing what the Cross did for slavery to the law — setting free. Direct doctrinal parallel
Hebrews 4:12 (paraphrase) — Already cited; “living and active… sharper than any two-edged sword” — the celestial-army dimension of the writings as weapon that penetrates without destroying. Direct doctrinal parallel
Isaiah 11:4 — “but he will judge the poor with righteousness, and decide with equity for the humble of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; and with the breath of his lips he will kill the wicked.” The divine word as the weapon that destroys the wicked (the human will’s tyranny) while liberating the poor: the siege-without-harm uses the rod of his mouth, not external force. Typological
The Desires of Jesus as Man — Sighing for the Kingdom
“‘As God, no desire existed in Me, because desire arises in one who does not possess everything; but in one who possesses everything and lacks nothing, desire has no reason to exist. However, as man, I had my desires, because my Heart associated Itself with creatures in everything… I desired for all, with all ardor, to give the Kingdom of my Divine Fiat to all creatures. So, if I sighed, I sighed for the Kingdom of my Will; if I prayed, cried and desired, it was only for my Kingdom.‘”
Luke 12:49–50 — “I came to throw fire on the earth. I wish it were already kindled. But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished!” Jesus’ most explicit gospel expression of human desire-in-anguish corresponds precisely to “if I sighed, I sighed for the Kingdom.” The “would that it were already kindled!” is the sigh-for-the-Kingdom in its most audible gospel form. Direct doctrinal parallel
Hebrews 5:7 — “He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,” The human Jesus’ prayers with “loud cries and tears” is the concrete form of the “if I prayed, cried and desired, it was only for my Kingdom” teaching. The whole prayer-life of Jesus’ humanity is here identified as ordered to one desire. Direct doctrinal parallel
Philippians 2:7–8 — “but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.” The kenosis grounds the legitimacy of Jesus having human desires: in the form of a servant and likeness of men, he truly had human desires, genuinely felt within his Heart that “associated Itself with creatures in everything.” Christological/Trinitarian
Hebrews 2:17–18 — “Therefore he was obligated in all things to be made like his brothers, that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make atonement for the sins of the people. For in that he himself has suffered being tempted, he is able to help those who are tempted.” The requirement that Jesus be made like his brothers in every respect includes the capacity for human desire: his Heart’s association with creatures in everything is the high-priestly solidarity that makes his sighing-for-the-Kingdom the universal human sigh taken up and sanctified. Christological/Trinitarian
Luke 22:15 — “He said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer,” The formula “I have earnestly desired” (epithumia epithumēsa) is the most explicit Lukan statement of Jesus’ human desire: intense, personal, eschatologically ordered. The Passover-desire is the sacramental form of the Kingdom-desire. Direct doctrinal parallel
John 4:34 — “Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work.” Jesus’ human desire ordered entirely to the Father’s will and its accomplishment: the entry’s teaching that “everything Jesus did as man was ordered to the Kingdom of the DW” finds its Johannine expression in Jesus naming the Father’s will as his food. Direct doctrinal parallel
The Soul’s Acts as Echo and Army — ILY Formula and the Kingdom’s Hastening
“‘I was continuing my round… I placed the army of all your acts around You; and investing your words, your heartbeats, your steps, your pains and all your acts with my “I love you”, I ask You for the Kingdom of your Will.’… ‘Everything you do is nothing other than my echo which, resounding in you, makes you ask, in each one of my acts, for the Kingdom of my Will… investing them, you repeat after each one of my acts: “Jesus, I love You, and because I love You, give me the Kingdom of your Divine Will.” I want you to call Me in everything I do, to make resound for Me the sweet memory of my acts saying: “Fiat Voluntas Tua on earth as It is in Heaven.”‘”
1 John 4:19 — “We love him, because he first loved us.” The ILY formula — “Jesus, I love You, and because I love You, give me the Kingdom” — is the Johannine love-logic applied to Kingdom-petition: the creature’s “I love You” is the reflection and echo of the prior divine love, and this love-echo constitutes the ground of the petition. Direct doctrinal parallel
Romans 8:26–27 — “the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered. … he makes intercession for the saints according to God.” “Everything you do is nothing other than my echo” is the experiential form of this verse: the creature’s acts and petitions are the DW’s own intercession resounding through the creature, making the soul’s army of acts identical with the DW’s own pressing of itself for the Kingdom. Direct doctrinal parallel
Matthew 6:10 — “Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” The “Fiat Voluntas Tua on earth as It is in Heaven” that Jesus wants to resound in each act is the Lord’s Prayer’s Kingdom-petition elevated to the level of a personal echo of every act. Direct doctrinal parallel
Revelation 22:17 — “The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” He who hears, let him say, “Come!” He who is thirsty, let him come. He who desires, let him take the water of life freely.” The soul’s repeating “I love You, give me the Kingdom” after each act is the eternal Maranatha voiced through the creature’s investment of each divine act — the army of acts as the Bride’s perpetual “Come.” Direct doctrinal parallel
Psalm 63:1 — “A Psalm by David, when he was in the desert of Judah. God, you are my God. I will earnestly seek you. My soul thirsts for you. My flesh longs for you, in a dry and weary land, where there is no water.” The soul investing every act of Jesus with the ILY formula corresponds to the earnest seeking and thirsting of Psalm 63: not a single moment or a formula but a habitus of ardent pursuit. Affective/meditative
Genesis 32:24–28 (paraphrase) — Jacob wrestling with the angel and refusing to let go without a blessing — “I will not let you go unless you bless me.” The army of acts “pressing” Jesus and making him “hasten to grant the Kingdom” echoes Jacob’s importunate wrestling: the creature holding onto every divine act and refusing to release it without the Kingdom’s blessing. Typological
STAGE TWO — Comparison with Hogan’s Commentary
CORRESPONDENCES
- Hebrews 4:12 / living and active word: Both Stage One and Hogan identify this as the governing anchor for the living, palpitating quality of the writings. Hogan cites explicitly.
- John 1:1–4 / Word as life and light: Both identify the Johannine Prologue for the divine life flowing in the written words. Hogan cites explicitly.
- Revelation 21–22 / eternal city: Both identify Revelation 21 (and 22) for the walls of the Celestial Fatherland and the eternal city imagery. Hogan cites the section as a unit.
- The death-and-resurrection pattern for “passions die / life of Heaven rises again”: Both identify Paul’s old-man/new-man framework for this movement. Hogan references “Paul’s writings” on the old sinful man dying / new man rising without a specific citation; Stage One identified Romans 6:4–5 as the governing text.
- The liberation-from-tyranny reading of the siege: Both. Hogan: “I’m trying to liberate you from your slavery… I’m trying to get you out of the prison of the ego.” Stage One: Galatians 5:1.
DEVIATIONS
- Romans 6:1 (Hogan) vs. Romans 6:4 / Colossians 3:1–3 (Stage One): For the writings “bringing heaven down to earth,” Hogan cites “Romans 6.1.” Romans 6:1 reads “What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound?” — a rhetorical question without correspondence to “bringing heaven down to earth.” The text Hogan appears to intend is Romans 6:4 (walking in newness of life / heaven’s life on earth) or the broader Romans 6 death-and-resurrection-to-new-life passage. See citation correction below.
- The “readers of the writings as celestial army” vs. “writings as celestial army”: Stage One reads “the true celestial army” as referring to the writings themselves. Hogan reads it as referring to the readers: “the people who are reading and meditating on these writings will be the true celestial army.” The diary text supports both readings: “these writings… will be the true celestial army.” Hogan’s reading extends the army-identity to those who receive the writings and thus become weapons of liberation through their transformed lives. These are complementary rather than competing: the writings are the army, and those shaped by the writings join it.

ADDITIONS — HERS
- Romans 6:1 (probable intended: Romans 6:4): For the writings transmitting “characters of the Celestial Fatherland to creatures” as bringing heaven to earth. See citation correction below.
- The readers as “the true celestial army”: Hogan identifies the readers and meditators on the writings as constituting the celestial army, not only the writings themselves. The army is formed by those transformed through the readings, who then become agents of liberation in their own sphere.
- Luisa’s testimony value: Hogan emphasizes that Luisa’s own re-reading of Volume 20 and feeling the living virtue within it is a first-hand testimony — “this is her own testimony” — establishing the authority of the experience. No additional scriptural citation, but the hermeneutical value of Luisa’s personal witness is noted.
- The pastoral depth-of-rounds counsel: Hogan warns that rounds can be “far too superficial” and calls for deep, personal investment of the ILY formula — not rote repetition but genuine love investing each act. Implicit scriptural background: Luke 18:1 (always pray and not lose heart) and Matthew 22:37 (love the Lord your God with all your heart).
VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS
Hogan uses elevated language twice: “there is an extremely important statement” (about the DW being the heartbeat and life of all creation) and “This is terribly important” (about Jesus identifying with human desires). Neither reaches the formal VIP threshold. Not counted.
STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS
The dominant biblical imagination of this entry operates in two registers: the theology of the living word (Hebrews 4:12, John 1:1–4, Wisdom 18:14–16) and the death-and-resurrection pattern of liberation (Romans 6:4–5, Ezekiel 37, Galatians 5:1). These converge on a single claim: the DW writings are not merely records but bearers of the DW’s own palpitating life, operating as a celestial army that liberates creatures from the human will’s tyranny through the same death-and-resurrection dynamic that the Cross enacted for sin. The IAD-1 dimension (DW suffocated by the human will) and the PHW-1 dimension (human will as tyrannizer) are addressed simultaneously: the writings make the DW’s heartbeat so strong that the suffocation is reversed and the tyranny is sieged without harm.
The two citation streams agree on both major movements; Hogan’s distinctive contribution is the extension of the army-identity to the readers themselves (not only the writings) and the pastoral warning about the ILY investment’s necessary depth. Stage One supplies the OT prophetic framework (Wisdom 18, Ezekiel 37, Isaiah 11) and the two-natures Christological anchors (Hebrews 2, 5; Luke 12, 22) for the desires-of-Jesus-as-man teaching.
Load-bearing correspondences: Hebrews 4:12 and John 1:1–4 for the living-word theology; Revelation 21 for the celestial inscription; Romans 6:4–5 and Ezekiel 37 for the liberation-siege pattern; Luke 12:49–50 and Hebrews 5:7 for Jesus’ human Kingdom-desire; 1 John 4:19 and Genesis 32:24–28 for the ILY-as-army investment.
Cross-Entry Synthesis
Volume 23 — January 29, 1928 “Immense value of the writings on the Divine Will. How they are characters transmitted by the Celestial Fatherland. How they will lay siege to the human will. Desire of the Heart of Jesus. His acts, an army asking for the Kingdom of the Fiat.”
The Writings as Living Documents — Characters of the Celestial Fatherland
“‘These writings have the virtue of communicating the Life of It, palpitating and all celestial, to those who will read these writings… suns impressed with characters of most refulgent light in the walls of the Celestial Fatherland.‘”
The two citation streams converge strongly on the living-word tradition. John 1:1–4 (the Word as life and light) and Hebrews 4:12 (the word of God living and active) establish that the DW writings are not a new category of sacred text but the continuation of the same divine Word’s living operative quality in a new mode. What was embodied in the Incarnation is now impressed in characters; what is alive in Scripture is alive in these writings because the same DW who inspired both has impressed his own palpitating heartbeat into both. Hogan underscores that Jesus himself dictated these writings, making the living quality Luisa perceives not her imagination but a testimony to the character of the source.
Revelation 21:10–11 and 3:12 (the eternal city with its radiance / divine names inscribed therein) supply the celestial-ontological dimension: the writings are simultaneously inscribed as characters of refulgent light in the walls of the Celestial Fatherland, visible to the Blessed. This is not metaphor for importance but a statement about dual existence — the same characters on earth and in the eternal city, as Christ is simultaneously present in Heaven and in the Eucharist. Wisdom 7:26–27 (Wisdom renewing all things) and Isaiah 30:8 (write for a permanent witness) supply the Wisdom-prophetic frame: the writings as sun-like carriers of the divine light’s renewing power given in time for all future generations.
The DW Suffocated / The Writings as Liberation
“‘My Will is palpitating in the midst of creatures, but It lives suffocated by the human will. These writings will make Its heartbeat felt so strongly, that It will suffocate the human will and will take Its first place.‘”
Revelation 3:20 (I stand at the door and knock) supplies the most direct single-verse parallel: the DW is already present in every creature as its heartbeat and the life of all creation (Romans 8:19–22), but the human will keeps the door closed. The writings amplify the already-present knocking until the door must open. John 8:32, 36 (the truth setting free) and Galatians 5:1 (the freedom for which Christ set us free) establish the liberation register: the writings carry the truth that sets free, doing for the DW’s reign what the Cross did for sin’s reign.
Luke 12:49 (would that the fire were already kindled!) provides the Christological urgency: Jesus’ burning desire-as-man for the Kingdom’s fire corresponds directly to his insistence that Luisa write, maintain continuous flight, omit nothing. The writings are the kindling he has been unable to contain — his ardent heartbeats pressed into characters.
The Writings as Celestial Army — Siege, Healing, Resurrection
“‘They will be the true celestial army which, while laying siege to the human will and to all the evils produced by it, will make peace, the lost happiness, the Life of my Will, rise again. The siege which they will lay will cause no harm to anyone.‘”
Wisdom 18:14–16 (the all-powerful Word as a stern warrior leaping from the royal throne to do battle) is the OT governing type: the celestial army comes from the Celestial Fatherland just as the Word leaped from the royal throne. The siege-without-harm is the distinctive characteristic: unlike earthly sieges, this siege liberates — it defeats the human will’s tyranny (PHW-1) without harming the creatures enslaved by it.
Ezekiel 37:1–10 (dry bones coming to life) and Romans 6:4–5 (buried with Christ / raised to walk in newness of life) together supply the resurrection pattern: “passions will feel themselves die, and from their death will rise again the life of Heaven” is simultaneously the Ezekiel-pneumatic event and the Pauline baptismal death-and-resurrection. The writings operate as both the Spirit-breath animating dead bones and the baptismal enactment of dying-and-rising.
Hogan’s extension of the army-identity to the readers enriches this: the writings are the army, and those transformed by them become its members — liberated captives who carry the liberation outward. Stage One’s “writings as army” and Hogan’s “readers-transformed as army” are sequential: the writings form the soldiers, and the soldiers extend the siege.
The Desires of Jesus as Man — Sighing for the Kingdom
“‘As man, I had my desires… if I sighed, I sighed for the Kingdom of my Will; if I prayed, cried and desired, it was only for my Kingdom.‘”
This is a formal two-natures statement applied to desire: as God, no desire (desire arises from lack); as man, full genuine human desire directed wholly to the Kingdom. Philippians 2:7–8 (the kenosis) and Hebrews 2:17–18 (made like his brothers in every respect) establish the ground: the complete humanity includes genuine human desires. The entry frames this desire as universal in scope — “making the desires of all his own” — so that Jesus’ human sighs, prayers, and tears are not personal but representative: he desires the Kingdom for all, on behalf of all, as the depository of all human longing.
Luke 12:49–50 (would that the fire were already kindled / my distress) and Hebrews 5:7 (prayers and loud cries and tears) supply the specific gospel evidence: every sigh, every prayer, every tear of Jesus’ human life is a form of the one Kingdom-desire. Luke 22:15 (I have earnestly desired) and John 4:34 (my food is to do the will of him who sent me) complete the picture. The theological significance: Jesus’ human desires sanctify human desires by taking them up and ordering them entirely to the Kingdom — which is why Luisa’s echoing of each act with the ILY formula is not the addition of something new to those acts but the echo of what was already in them.
The Soul’s Acts as Echo and Army — The ILY Investment
“‘Everything you do is nothing other than my echo which, resounding in you, makes you ask, in each one of my acts, for the Kingdom… “Jesus, I love You, and because I love You, give me the Kingdom of your Divine Will.”‘”
Romans 8:26–27 (the Spirit interceding through the creature’s acts) and 1 John 4:19 (we love because he first loved us) together establish the pneumatological and Johannine ground for the echo-investment: the soul’s “I love You” is not the creature’s own initiative but the DW’s own love resounding back from within the creature. The “because I love You” ground of the Kingdom-petition is itself the reflection of the prior love that generated the creature’s capacity for love.
Matthew 6:10 (Fiat Voluntas Tua on earth as it is in Heaven) gives the army’s single battle-cry — the Lord’s Prayer as the form of each act’s investment. Revelation 22:17 (Spirit and Bride say “Come”) identifies the army’s perpetual petition as the canon’s own closing Maranatha. Genesis 32:24–28 (Jacob wrestling for a blessing) supplies the tactical disposition: holding onto each divine act and refusing to release it without the Kingdom’s blessing.
Hogan’s pastoral note deepens the significance: the ILY investment is not a formula but genuine love investing each act at depth. The army’s effectiveness depends not on quantity but on the love-depth of each act’s holding.
Synthesis Conclusion
The dominant biblical imagination of this entry is the living-word tradition, rooted in John 1 and Hebrews 4:12 and extended through Wisdom 18 (the Word as celestial warrior), Ezekiel 37 (the Spirit-breath giving life to the dead), and Revelation 21 (the eternal city with its inscribed walls). The writings are not commentary on the DW but the DW’s own palpitating life impressed in characters, carrying the same operative power as the Word who became flesh, liberating by the same mechanism as the Spirit who animates dry bones, and sieging without harm by the same authority as the Rod of the divine mouth.
Three findings carry the most theological significance. First, the dual-existence of the writings (simultaneously inscribed as suns in the walls of the Celestial Fatherland and transmitted to creatures on earth) establishes that each reading is an event that resonates in both planes — the Blessed enraptured by the same characters that kindle palpitating life in earthly readers. Second, the two-natures-and-desire doctrine formally states that every act of Jesus’ human life was a Kingdom-desire in the form of a human act, making Luisa’s ILY investment of each act not an addition but the echo of what was already in them — the creature’s “I love You” is the already-present Kingdom-desire of Jesus’ humanity finally finding its answering voice. Third, the ILY-as-echo doctrine (1 John 4:19 / Romans 8:26–27) establishes that the creature’s “I love You” is not the creature’s own initiative but the DW’s own love returning to itself through the creature — the army of acts is the DW pressing itself for its own Kingdom, with the soul as the sounding chamber of its echo.

ILY-1 — / Jesus-instructs-ILY-formula-for-each-act / most-formally-instructional: The tenth confirmed diary-text appearance of the I-Love-You Doctrine occurs at January 29, 1928: “investing them, you repeat after each one of my acts: ‘Jesus, I love You, and because I love You, give me the Kingdom of your Divine Will.‘” This is the most formally instructional ILY-1 register: Jesus himself names and explains the formula, specifying that the “I love You” grounds the Kingdom-petition (“because I love You”) and that the investment of each act with this formula makes the soul’s army effective. 1 John 4:19 and Romans 8:26–27 are the governing anchors. ILY-1 total: 10 confirmed. Update most recent to January 29.
PHW-1 — / human-will-as-tyrannizer / DW-laying-siege-to-liberate / siege-without-harm: The ninth confirmed diary-text appearance of the Prison-of-Human-Will Doctrine occurs at January 29, 1928: “my Will is to lay siege to the human will so that it may no longer tyrannize the poor creatures, but may leave them free in the Kingdom of my Will.” This extends PHW-1 into the liberation-siege register: the human will’s tyranny is the diagnostic, and the DW’s response is a siege that causes no harm because it targets enslavement rather than the enslaved. Galatians 5:1 and Wisdom 18:14–16 are the governing anchors. PHW-1 total: 9 confirmed. Update most recent to January 29.
CWD-1 — characters-of-Celestial-Fatherland / suns-in-walls-of-eternal-city / living-virtue-of-DW-heartbeat-impressed: Major new register at January 29, 1928: most formally complete CWD-1 statement regarding the ontological status of the DW writings. “These writings are suns impressed with characters of most refulgent light in the walls of the Celestial Fatherland, and they form the most beautiful ornament of those walls of the eternal city, in which all the Blessed remain enraptured and amazed.” The dual existence of the writings — simultaneously on earth and inscribed in the Celestial Fatherland — and the palpitating DW heartbeat impressed within the characters are new formal registers. Hebrews 4:12, John 1:1–4, Revelation 21:10–11, and Revelation 3:12 are the governing anchors. Update most recent to January 29.
IAD-1 — DW-palpitating-suffocated-in-midst-of-creatures / unable-to-emerge: New register at January 29, 1928. “My Will is palpitating in the midst of creatures, but It lives suffocated by the human will.” The DW already present in all creation as its heartbeat and life, but living suffocated by the human will, is a new and concentrated IAD-1 register: the DW’s infinite yearning to give itself is the palpitation itself, present everywhere but unable to emerge. Revelation 3:20 and Romans 8:19–22 are the governing anchors. Update most recent to January 29.
TGF-1 — writings-as-echo-of-Heaven / life-of-up-there-forming-upon-earth: New register at January 29, 1928. “It was about the most important thing, it was the echo of Heaven, the life of up there which I want to form upon earth.” The writings as the mechanism by which Heaven’s life forms upon earth is a new TGF-1 register connecting the Kingdom’s arrival to the specific vehicle of the DW writings. Update most recent to January 29.
SDR-1 — celestial-army / siege-without-harm / peace-and-lost-happiness-and-DW-life-rising-again: New register at January 29, 1928. “They will be the true celestial army which, while laying siege to the human will and to all the evils produced by it, will make peace, the lost happiness, the Life of my Will, rise again in the midst of creatures.” The DW writings as the Second Redemption’s celestial army constitutes the SDR-1 mechanism of universal restoration. Update most recent to January 29.
CHD-1 — echo-of-Jesus-resounding-in-Luisa / each-act-present-and-operative-through-echo: New register at January 29, 1928. “Everything you do is nothing other than my echo which, resounding in you, makes you ask, in each one of my acts, for the Kingdom of my Will. This is why I make present to you each act of mine.” Jesus making each act present and operative through its echo in Luisa is a new CHD-1 register: the channel-communication is not unidirectional but echo-structured — the act goes out, the echo returns to Jesus as petition, and the Kingdom is hastened by the return. Romans 8:26–27 is the governing anchor. Update most recent to January 29.
