Ordinary-Extraordinary Providence Doctrine
The doctrine of two operative modes of divine Providence: the ordinary order, in which the lifespan of every creature is immutably established (“not one point, not one minute earlier, not one minute later; life ends when it is established by Us — We are immutable in this regard”); and the extraordinary order, altered only when “a great glory of Ours must enter into this, and a great good for the whole Creation” — formally establishing that the ordinary order governs all creaturely chronology except where the extraordinary-glory condition is present.
