17-1924-09-17 Biblical Resonance Analysis

Volume 17 — September 17, 1924 “How one who does the Divine Will is wounded by God and wounds God.”

STAGE ONE — Independent Biblical Identification

The Two-Suns Vision — The Solar Circuit of Divine Will Living

“I saw the Heavens open, and a Sun come out of them which, wounding me with its rays, penetrated into the very depth of my soul; and my soul, wounded by those rays, turned into a Sun which, spreading its rays, wounded that Sun from which it had been wounded.”

Malachi 4:2 — “But to you who fear my name shall the sun of righteousness arise with healing in its wings. You will go out and leap like calves of the stall.” The Sun of the DW that rises from the opened heavens and wounds the soul with its rays is the Messianic Sun of Righteousness whose wings carry healing — the wounding by the rays is the healing that the Messianic Sun brings. The diary vision enacts Malachi 4:2’s promise as an interior event: the Sun rises over Luisa’s soul and its healing rays wound her into a co-radiating sun. Typological

Psalm 19:4–6 — “Their voice has gone out through all the earth, their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, which is as a bridegroom coming out of his room, like a strong man rejoicing to run his course. His going out is from the end of the heavens, his circuit to its ends. There is nothing hidden from its heat.” The sun coming out of the heavens and running its complete circuit with nothing hidden from its heat is the cosmological form of the DW Sun’s rays reaching the soul: the vision’s “Heavens open, and a Sun come out” follows the Psalm’s structure, and “wounding me with its rays” corresponds to “nothing hidden from its heat.” Affective/meditative

2 Corinthians 3:18 — “But we all, with unveiled face seeing the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord, the Spirit.” The transformation of the soul from glory to glory — beholding the Lord’s glory and being transformed into the same image — is the Pauline theological ground for the soul being wounded by the Sun’s rays and becoming a sun herself. The beholding produces the transformation; the transformation produces co-radiation. The diary entry gives 2 Corinthians 3:18 its visual, experiential, and dynamic form: the soul transformed “from one degree of glory to another” is the soul-sun radiating back to the divine Sun. Direct doctrinal parallel

Song of Songs 4:9 — “You have ravished my heart, my sister, my bride. You have ravished my heart with one of your eyes, with one chain of your neck.” The mutual wounding of heart by the beloved’s glance is the Song’s form of the bidirectional exchange; here the solar vision gives the mutual wounding its cosmological register: the divine Sun wounds the soul into a sun, and the soul-sun sends its rays back to wound the divine Sun — the same mutual-captivation of love enacted at the level of solar transformation. Affective/meditative

John 1:4–5 — “In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it.” The Sun of the DW as the Light whose rays penetrate to the soul’s depths and whose light transforms the soul into a co-radiating sun corresponds to the Johannine Light that gives life and cannot be overcome. The soul wounded into a sun and radiating back is the creaturely form of the light that “shines in the darkness” — the soul-sun extends the Johannine light into the creaturely domain. Christological/Trinitarian

Matthew 13:43 — “Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the Kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” The eschatological shining of the righteous like the sun corresponds to what the DW soul already does in the vision: transformed into a sun by the DW’s rays, she shines in the kingdom’s present form on earth, radiating the light she has received back toward its divine source and outward over all. Direct doctrinal parallel

Isaiah 60:1–3 — “Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the LORD’s glory has risen on you! For behold, darkness will cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise on you, and his glory shall be seen on you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” The soul rising and shining as a sun, sending rays back to the divine Sun and outward over all creation, is the Zion-imagery of Isaiah 60 enacted in the individual soul: the glory of the Lord rising upon Zion and Zion shining with it is exactly what happens when the DW Sun rises over the soul and she becomes a co-radiating sun. Typological

The Net of Light — Order Restored Between Creator and Creature

“Since I continued to do my acts for all in the Divine Will, these acts were overwhelmed by these rays and transformed into divine acts which, spreading through all and over all, formed a net of light, such as to put order between Creator and creature.”

Romans 8:19–22 (translation pending) — “For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God… the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.” The “net of light” that “put[s] order between Creator and creature” is the answer to creation’s groaning: the revealing of the DW souls transformed into suns — whose acts form a net of divine light over creation — is the event creation is waiting for. The order restored between Creator and creature is the restoration of what creation’s groaning longs to have returned. Direct doctrinal parallel

Colossians 1:20 — “and through him to reconcile all things to himself by him, whether things on the earth or things in the heavens, having made peace through the blood of his cross.” The reconciliation of all things to God — restoring the order between Creator and creature — corresponds to the net of light effecting the same reconciliation through the DW soul’s transformed acts. The DW soul’s acts participate in the Christological reconciliation: the peace made by the cross extends through the DW soul’s acts as a net of light over all things. Direct doctrinal parallel

John 17:21 — “that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me.” The prayer for the unity of all in the Trinitarian oneness is the Johannine form of “order between Creator and creature”: the DW soul fusing in the DW to embrace all and bring to God the acts of all as one single act is the creaturely realization of the prayer for unity in John 17:21. Direct doctrinal parallel

Ephesians 1:10 — “to an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in him.” The divine plan to “unite all things” in Christ is the eschatological ground of the net-of-light: the DW soul’s acts transformed into a net of light that covers “all and over all” is the present-tense form of the eschatological unification — the net is the instrument through which the divine plan is being executed in time. Direct doctrinal parallel

Habakkuk 2:14 — “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the LORD’s glory, as the waters cover the sea.” The net of light spreading over all creation corresponds to the earth being filled with the knowledge of the Lord’s glory as the waters cover the sea: the DW souls’ transformed acts are the means by which the eschatological filling begins to be accomplished in the present. Typological

Colossians 1:17 — “He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.” The net of light that holds order between Creator and creature is the creaturely extension of the Pauline principle: in him all things hold together, and through the DW soul’s acts done in the DW, the hold-together is extended into the creaturely domain as a net of divine light. Direct doctrinal parallel

The Sun of the DW Acting in the Soul as in Its Own Center

“Do you see what it means to do acts in my Will? This is to live in my Will: the Sun of my Will, transforming the human will into Sun, acts in it as if in Its own center.”

Acts 17:28 — “‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’” The DW acting in the soul “as if in Its own center” is the mystical specification of Acts 17:28: the soul lives, moves, and has her being in the DW, and the DW acts in the soul precisely as in its own center because the soul is entirely within the DW and the DW is entirely within the soul. Direct doctrinal parallel

1 John 1:5 — “This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” The DW as the Sun of pure light is the Johannine form of the divine nature; the soul transformed into a sun by the DW’s action participates in the light that has no darkness — the “pure Sun” acts in the soul as in its own center precisely because the light of the DW has no contamination from the creaturely darkness and can act from within the soul without remainder. Christological/Trinitarian

Galatians 2:20 — “I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.” The DW acting in the soul “as if in Its own center” is the Pauline formulation of what the solar-center teaching describes: Christ lives in the soul as in his own center, so that the soul’s acts are his acts from within the soul’s own depths. Direct doctrinal parallel

Daniel 12:3 — “Those who are wise will shine as the brightness of the expanse. Those who turn many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever.” The DW soul shining like the sun and turning all creation toward order by the net of her divine-transformed acts corresponds to Daniel 12:3’s “those who turn many to righteousness” shining “like the brightness of the sky above.” Typological

The Writings “Part of Myself” — Jesus Blessing Every Word

“He pressed them to His Heart, and with unspeakable tenderness, added: ‘I bless these writings from the heart. I bless every word; I bless the effects and the value they contain. These writings are part of Myself.‘”

John 1:1 — “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” “These writings are part of Myself” corresponds to the Johannine identification of the Word with God: the writings are “part of Myself” because they proceed from the Word who is God, and as the Word’s own expression they carry the Word’s identity. The writings are not merely about the Word; they are the Word’s self-expression, and as such they partake of the Word’s own being. Christological/Trinitarian

Isaiah 55:10–11 — “For as the rain comes down and the snow from the sky, and doesn’t return there, but waters the earth, and makes it grow and bud, and gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so is my word that goes out of my mouth: it will not return to me void, but it will accomplish that which I please, and it will prosper in the thing I sent it to do.” The word going out from God and not returning empty — carrying the sender’s character inseparably — corresponds to the writings that are “part of Myself”: they carry the identity of the one who sent them because they have not separated from him. Typological / CWD-1

Hebrews 4:12 — “For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and is able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” The living, active character of the divine word — piercing to the deepest divisions — corresponds to the writings that contain “effects and value”: not merely information but operative power that pierces and transforms, as the Sun’s rays penetrated to “the very depth of my soul” in the preceding vision. Direct doctrinal parallel

2 Timothy 3:16 — “Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness,” The divine breathing-out of Scripture is the canonical parallel for “these writings are part of Myself”: texts breathed out by God carry the divine breath inseparably from the God who breathes. The teachings in the writings are profitable in the same way as Scripture — because they proceed from the same divine source. Direct doctrinal parallel

Revelation 1:16 — “He had seven stars in his right hand. Out of his mouth proceeded a sharp two-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining at its brightest.” The word from the mouth of the glorified Christ — sharp and proceeding from the one whose face is like the sun — corresponds to the writings pressed to Jesus’ heart: they proceed from the glorified Christ whose face appears as the solar Sun of the DW vision, and they carry the sharp, effective character of the word from his mouth. Christological/Trinitarian

The Angels Touching the Priests’ Foreheads — The Holy Spirit for Understanding

“Jesus told the Angels to touch their foreheads to impress in them the Holy Spirit, so as to infuse in them the light in order to make them understand the truths and the good contained in these writings.”

Hebrews 1:13–14 — “But which of the angels has he told at any time, “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet?” Aren’t they all serving spirits, sent out to do service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation?” The angels as ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation corresponds to their specific mission in the vision: sent by Jesus to impress the Holy Spirit on the priests reviewing the writings, so that the inheritance they offer (the DW writings) may be received with understanding. Direct doctrinal parallel

John 14:26 — “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.” The Holy Spirit as the teacher of all things corresponds to the Spirit impressed on the priests to infuse “the light in order to make them understand the truths and the good contained in these writings.” The Spirit’s function as teacher is here activated through the angelic mediation — the same Spirit who was promised to teach all things is impressed on those who must evaluate what has been taught. Direct doctrinal parallel

John 20:22 — “When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit!” The divine breathing-impressing of the Spirit on the disciples for their mission corresponds to the angels touching the priests’ foreheads to impress the Spirit on them for their specific mission of understanding the writings. The form of the conferral is the same — the Spirit received on the head, the organ of understanding — and the purpose is parallel: equipping for a specific mission of divine disclosure. Direct doctrinal parallel

1 Corinthians 2:9–10 — “But as it is written, “Things which an eye didn’t see, and an ear didn’t hear, which didn’t enter into the heart of man, these God has prepared for those who love him.” But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.” The Spirit searching the depths of God and revealing them corresponds to the light infused in the priests “to understand the truths and the good contained in these writings”: the writings contain the depths of the DW that no human eye or ear has reached, and only the Spirit who searches those depths can give the understanding required. Direct doctrinal parallel

Isaiah 11:2 — “The LORD’s Spirit will rest on him: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD.” The Spirit of wisdom and understanding — specifically named as the Spirit resting on those appointed for discernment — corresponds to the Spirit impressed on the priests to understand the truths in the writings. The sevenfold Spirit of Isaiah 11:2 is the Old Testament form of the specific gift the priests receive. Typological

Acts 2:3 — “Tongues like fire appeared and were distributed to them, and one sat on each of them.” The Pentecostal fire resting on each head, transforming those it touches for mission, corresponds to the angelic touch on each priest’s forehead to impress the Spirit: the same event — the Spirit resting on the head for mission — is here effected through angelic mediation rather than the divine wind and fire of Pentecost. Typological

STAGE TWO — Comparison with Hogan’s Commentary

CORRESPONDENCES

Romans 8:19 — both Stage One and Hogan identify creation’s eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God as the governing text for the net-of-light / order-between-Creator-and-creature movement. Hogan cites it explicitly (“that’s your Romans 8 text from verse 19, that the whole of creation is crying out for this to happen”); Stage One identifies Romans 8:19–22 for the same movement. The convergence confirms it as the eschatological load-bearer for the net-of-light teaching.

Hebrews 1:13–14 — both Stage One and Hogan identify the angels as ministering spirits sent to serve as the governing text for the angelic mission. Hogan cites “Hebrews 1 and I think it’s 13 to 14” explicitly; Stage One identifies Hebrews 1:13–14 for the same movement. The convergence confirms it as the load-bearer for the angelic-preparation section.

DEVIATIONS

For the solar-transformation / Two-Suns movement: Stage One identified 2 Corinthians 3:18 (transformation from glory to glory), Matthew 13:43 (the righteous shining like the sun), Isaiah 60:1–3 (arise and shine), Malachi 4:2 (Sun of Righteousness), and Song of Songs 4:9 (mutual wounding) as the governing scriptural field. Hogan does not add scripture citations for this movement but provides the most concrete interpretive suggestion in the batch: “I would suggest that if you’re able to draw that you draw this and it’ll give you enormous enlightenment” — followed by a visual description of the diagram. Hogan’s pedagogical contribution for this movement is not scriptural but structural: she maps the bidirectional circuit visually (Sun → soul → rays → Sun → transformation of acts → net of light) in a way that makes the theological structure immediately apprehensible.

For the writings-blessing section: Stage One identified John 1:1, Isaiah 55:10–11, Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16, and Revelation 1:16 as the governing scriptural field for “these writings are part of Myself.” Hogan does not add direct citations for this movement but focuses on the experiential pastoral dimension: “when we’re reading it there’s enormous grace in just reading this text. Even if you didn’t understand it there’s enormous grace in reading it.” Stage One’s scriptural field addresses the theological ground of the claim; Hogan’s emphasis addresses its practical consequence: the writings’ identity as “part of Myself” means the reader encounters the living Christ in the act of reading, independent of intellectual comprehension.

For the angelic section: Both streams converge on Hebrews 1:13–14. Hogan adds the Genesis 18 (Abraham at Mamre) reference: “the task of the angels to try and help Abraham to intercede for the people who are going to be judged in Sodom and Gomorrah” — illustrating the angels as participants in the divine-human intercession for people under judgment. Stage One addressed the angelic section more comprehensively (John 14:26, John 20:22, 1 Corinthians 2:9–10, Isaiah 11:2, Acts 2:3); Hogan’s Genesis 18 angle adds the typological dimension of the angels’ role as mediators between the divine-intercessory act and those under judgment — which connects the angelic-forehead-touching to the broader VSC-1 and PHD-1 context.

ADDITIONS — HERS

Luke 17:21 / 1 Corinthians 3:16 — Hogan cites both for “Jesus coming out from within my interior” — the realized-kingdom form (Luke 17:21) and the temple-of-God form (1 Corinthians 3:16). Stage One did not identify these for this entry’s opening context.

Genesis 18 (Oak of Mamre) — Hogan references the angelic mission at Mamre, where the angels helped Abraham intercede for those under judgment in Sodom and Gomorrah, as a typological illustration of the angelic role in the vision. The angels as mediators in a divine-intercessory-with-judgment context connects the forehead-touching mission to the broader pattern of angelic participation in the divine-human intercession for those under judgment.

VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS

No formal VIP designation. Hogan uses elevated descriptive language throughout: “if you ever want to give a talk on the divine will you have the whole lot of it here. It’s really wonderful.” The writings-blessing section receives particular emphasis (“Isn’t that fantastic?”), but neither section receives a formal VIP designation in Hogan’s standard pattern.

STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS

The combined analysis reveals that this entry operates across two distinct but typologically unified movements, both following the same structural dynamic: divine initiative → creaturely reception → transformation → return to source. In the solar vision, the DW Sun wounds the soul, transforms her into a sun, and the soul’s rays return to wound the divine Sun — with all acts transformed into a net of light. In the writings-blessing, Jesus presses the writings to his heart (divine initiative), impresses the Spirit on the priests through the angels (creaturely reception and transformation), so that the priests may understand and receive what the writings contain (return to source in understanding). The two movements mirror each other across two registers: the mystical (solar circuit) and the ecclesial (Spirit for understanding). The load-bearing texts confirmed by both streams are Romans 8:19 (creation’s longing answered by the net of light) and Hebrews 1:13–14 (the angels as ministering spirits). Stage One extends each movement through its full scriptural field; Hogan’s distinctive contributions are the visual pedagogy for the solar circuit and the Genesis 18 angle for the angelic mediation.

Cross-Entry Synthesis

Volume 17 — September 17, 1924 “How one who does the Divine Will is wounded by God and wounds God.”

The Two-Suns Vision — The Bidirectional Solar Circuit

The entry opens with Luisa doing “as much as I could to fuse myself” in the DW to embrace all and bring to God the acts of all as one single act — and in response, she sees the heavens open and the Sun of the DW descend with wounding rays that penetrate to the soul’s depths, transforming her into a sun, whose rays return to wound the original Sun, with the acts transformed into divine acts forming a net of light over all creation. Stage One identified Malachi 4:2 (the Sun of Righteousness with healing in its wings), Psalm 19:4–6 (the sun coming from the heavens running its complete circuit), and 2 Corinthians 3:18 (transformation from glory to glory by beholding the divine glory) as the governing scriptural field. The Malachi and Psalm texts establish the solar vision’s Old Testament cosmological frame; 2 Corinthians 3:18 provides the New Testament theological ground: the beholding produces the transformation, and the transformation produces co-radiation. The soul who “fuses herself” in the DW is beholding the divine glory with unveiled face, and at that beholding she is transformed from one degree of glory to another — becoming a sun by beholding the Sun.

Hogan does not add scripture citations for the solar movement but provides the most concrete interpretive contribution in the entry: “I would suggest that if you’re able to draw that you draw this” — followed by a visual description of the bidirectional circuit. Her pedagogical suggestion maps what Stage One’s scriptural field establishes theologically: the Sun of the DW (Malachi 4:2 / Psalm 19) descends, wounds the soul, and the soul ascends back to wound the Sun (Song of Songs 4:9’s mutual wounding enacted cosmologically). Isaiah 60:1–3 (arise and shine, nations coming to your light) and Matthew 13:43 (the righteous shining like the sun) together give the prophetic and eschatological frames for the soul-sun radiating outward and upward once transformed.

This is ECA-1’s most visually complete bidirectional-circuit form. The three ECA-1 registers of Volume 17 now cover the full circuit comprehensively: the return-circuit (June 10 — the DW soul as the heartbeat gathering all creaturely palpitations and returning them to God), the descending-circuit (August 9 — the DW soul as the primary cause for grace descending from God to earth), and now the solar-bidirectional-circuit (this entry — the Sun of the DW wounding the soul into a sun whose rays return to wound the Sun, with acts transformed into divine acts forming a net of light). The three registers together describe a complete account: divine light descends, transforms, and ascends; creaturely acts descend and return; both movements produce the net of light over creation.

The Net of Light — Order Between Creator and Creature

The acts transformed by the Sun’s rays into divine acts form “a net of light, such as to put order between Creator and creature.” Both citation streams converge on Romans 8:19 as the governing eschatological text — Hogan explicitly, Stage One in the Romans 8:19–22 range. The convergence confirms the net-of-light as the answer to creation’s groaning: the revealing of the DW souls as co-radiating suns is the event the creation is “waiting with eager longing” for. Stage One extended this through Ephesians 1:10 (unite all things in him), Colossians 1:20 (reconcile all things through the cross), Habakkuk 2:14 (the earth filled with the knowledge of the glory as the waters cover the sea), and Colossians 1:17 (in him all things hold together) as the theological frame for the net’s function: the DW soul’s transformed acts participate in the Christological reconciliation, extending the divine hold-together into the creaturely domain as an active net of light.

John 17:21 provides the Johannine center: the prayer for all to be one as the Father and Son are one is the form of the net-of-light’s order-restoring function. The DW soul who fuses herself in the DW to embrace all and bring to God the acts of all as one single act is performing the prayer of John 17:21 — making present the unity of Creator and creature that the Son prays for.

The Sun of the DW Acting in the Soul as in Its Own Center

Jesus’ explanation — “the Sun of my Will, transforming the human will into Sun, acts in it as if in Its own center” — delivers the entry’s most concentrated formulation of the DW-soul identity. Stage One identified Acts 17:28 (“in him we live and move and have our being”) as the most fundamental ground: the DW acts in the soul “as in Its own center” because the soul already lives, moves, and has her being within the DW, and the DW has already become the soul’s own center. Galatians 2:20 (“no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me”) gives the Pauline formulation: the DW living in the soul as in its own center is the realized form of Christ living in the believer, with the DW as the medium of that living.

1 John 1:5 (“God is light, and in him is no darkness at all”) identifies why the transformation is complete: the Sun of the DW is pure light with no darkness, and when it acts in the soul “as in Its own center,” it acts with the same totality there that it has in its own divine center — no diminishment, no contamination, no remainder of darkness. This is the most precise formulation in Volume 17 of what the DW’s action in the soul amounts to: it acts in the soul with the same quality of action it would exercise in the divine center itself. AJD-1’s structural-and-operational account from August 14 — the crown-guard mechanism enabling the soul to perform the office of Jesus’ acts — is here shown from the divine side: the DW acts in the soul as in its own center, which is why the soul’s acts carry the DW’s own creative power (ECA-1) and perform its office (AJD-1).

The Writings “Part of Myself” — CWD-1’s Most Christological Statement

The writings-blessing section is the entry’s most formally Christological statement about the DW writings. Jesus gathers all the books, presses them to his heart with “unspeakable tenderness,” blesses every word, every effect, every value, and declares: “These writings are part of Myself.” Stage One identified John 1:1 (the Word who was with God and was God), Isaiah 55:10–11 (the word going out from God and not returning empty), Hebrews 4:12 (the word of God living and active), 2 Timothy 3:16 (Scripture breathed out by God), and Revelation 1:16 (the sharp sword from the mouth of the glorified Christ whose face is like the sun) as the scriptural field. The governing claim is established by John 1:1: the writings are “part of Myself” because they proceed from the Word who is God, and as the Word’s self-expression they carry the Word’s own identity without separation. Isaiah 55:10–11 gives the operational ground: a word sent from God does not return empty because it does not separate from its sender, and the writings’ identity as “part of Myself” is the form that non-separation takes.

Hogan’s pastoral emphasis — “when we’re reading it there’s enormous grace in just reading this text. Even if you didn’t understand it there’s enormous grace in reading it” — addresses the practical consequence: if the writings are “part of Myself,” then the reader encounters the living Christ in the act of reading, and the Hebrews 4:12 principle operates — the living, active word “piercing to the division of soul and of spirit” — whether or not intellectual comprehension accompanies the reading. The grace operates at the level of the word’s own living power, not at the level of the reader’s understanding.

The connection to the solar vision is structural: the Sun of the DW wounded the soul with its rays, penetrating to the soul’s depths; the writings carry the same penetrating quality — Hebrews 4:12’s “sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit” is the same dynamic in textual form. The writings are “part of Myself” as the soul-sun is part of the DW Sun: both carry the identity of the source within the creaturely form.

The Angels Touching the Priests’ Foreheads — The Spirit for Understanding

The angelic impression of the Holy Spirit on the reviewing priests is the entry’s most formally ecclesial moment. Both streams converge on Hebrews 1:13–14 as the governing text for the angelic mission — ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation. Stage One extended this through John 14:26 (the Spirit teaching all things), John 20:22 (Jesus breathing the Spirit on the disciples for mission), and 1 Corinthians 2:9–10 (the Spirit searching the depths of God and revealing them). Hogan adds the Genesis 18 angle: the angels at Mamre helping Abraham intercede for those under judgment. The typological connection is illuminating: as the angels at Mamre helped mediate the divine-intercessory encounter with Abraham before God’s judgment of Sodom, the angels here help mediate the Spirit’s conferral on the priests before their judgment (evaluation) of the writings. The angelic mission in both cases is the preparation of human agents for a specific act of discernment with cosmic stakes.

This is PHD-1’s most formally ecclesial preparation-for-reception form. Prior PHD-1 registers named the court-of-grace and coming-to-light forms (Volume 16) and the privation-as-receptive-preparation form (May 29, 1924). This entry gives the Spirit-for-understanding form: the purposive hiddenness of the writings finds its divine provision in the specific equipping of those who must evaluate them. The Spirit impressed on the priests is the divine preparation of the human reception-apparatus — the purposive hiddenness providing not only the writings but the Spirit needed to understand them.

Synthesis Conclusion

The dominant biblical imagination at work is the solar-light tradition (Malachi 4:2, Psalm 19, Isaiah 60, Matthew 13:43) braided with the Pauline transformation-and-reconciliation tradition (2 Corinthians 3:18, Colossians 1:20, Romans 8:19, Ephesians 1:10) and the Johannine Word-and-Spirit tradition (John 1:1, John 14:26, John 17:21, 1 Corinthians 2:9–10). The three traditions converge on the entry’s two structural movements: the solar vision establishes the mystical dynamic (solar tradition + Pauline transformation), while the writings-blessing and angelic preparation enact the same dynamic in the ecclesial-textual register (Johannine Word + Johannine Spirit). The two movements mirror each other: divine Sun → soul → solar transformation → net of light (mystical); divine Word → writings → Spirit → understanding (ecclesial). Both follow the same dynamic of initiative, reception, transformation, and extension.

The three findings of greatest theological weight in the combined analysis are: (1) the Three-ECA-1 Register completion — the June 10 return-circuit, August 9 descending-circuit, and September 17 solar-bidirectional-circuit together form a complete account of the divine-creaturely exchange in the DW: cosmic heartbeat (return), descending food (descent), and the Two-Suns Vision (bidirectional transformation with net-of-light); (2) “These writings are part of Myself” as CWD-1’s most Christological statement — the writings carry the Word’s own identity without separation, so that the reader encounters the living Christ in the act of reading; (3) the angelic impression of the Spirit for understanding as PHD-1’s most formally ecclesial preparation-for-reception form — the divine provision of the writings is accompanied by the divine provision of the Spirit needed to receive them, through the mediation of angels who have served as intercessors in judgment contexts since Genesis 18.

ECA-1 advance — Two-Suns Vision / bidirectional solar circuit form: “I saw the Heavens open, and a Sun come out of them which, wounding me with its rays, penetrated into the very depth of my soul; and my soul, wounded by those rays, turned into a Sun which, spreading its rays, wounded that Sun from which it had been wounded… these acts were overwhelmed by these rays and transformed into divine acts which, spreading through all and over all, formed a net of light, such as to put order between Creator and creature.” This is ECA-1’s most visually complete bidirectional-circuit form in the corpus. Together with the June 10 register (return-circuit / heartbeat-of-all-Creation) and the August 9 register (descending-food / primary-cause), all three ECA-1 directions are now named within Volume 17: return (June 10), descending (August 9), bidirectional solar (September 17). The net-of-light as the structural result of the bidirectional circuit is the entry’s most significant new formulation; it restores “order between Creator and creature” — the most cosmologically complete statement of the DW circuit’s function. Romans 8:19, Colossians 1:20, and 2 Corinthians 3:18 governing. Hogan confirms Romans 8:19 explicitly.

CWD-1 advance — “Part of Myself” / most Christological form: “I bless these writings from the heart. I bless every word; I bless the effects and the value they contain. These writings are part of Myself.” This is CWD-1’s most Christological statement in the corpus. Prior CWD-1 most recent: teacher-who-makes-teachers / doctrinal-transmission (May 24, 1924). This entry advances beyond the writings as new-Sun-for-the-Church (February 10, 1924) and teacher-who-makes-teachers to the participatory-identity form: the writings do not merely proceed from Christ or communicate his teaching — they are “part of Myself.” The writings carry the Word’s own identity without separation, as the word going out from God in Isaiah 55:10–11 does not return empty because it does not separate from its sender. John 1:1, Isaiah 55:10–11, Hebrews 4:12, and 2 Timothy 3:16 governing.

PHD-1 advance — Holy-Spirit-for-understanding / angelic-mediation-for-reception form: “Jesus told the Angels to touch their foreheads to impress in them the Holy Spirit, so as to infuse in them the light in order to make them understand the truths and the good contained in these writings.” This is PHD-1’s most formally ecclesial preparation-for-reception form. Prior PHD-1 most recent: privation-as-receptive-preparation / alternating-rhythm (May 29, 1924). This entry gives the Spirit-for-understanding form: the purposive hiddenness of the writings is accompanied by the divine provision of the Spirit needed to receive them, through angelic mediation. John 14:26 and 1 Corinthians 2:9–10 governing. Hogan confirms Hebrews 1:13–14 for the angelic mission explicitly; adds the Genesis 18 (Oak of Mamre) typology for angels as mediators in divine-judgment contexts.
