Rights of Justice/Love Equilibrium
The VIP-class Christological doctrine that divine Love and divine Justice hold co-equal, irrevocable, and mutually asserting rights within the divine economy — “Justice said to my Love: ‘You wanted the right of Love; it has been granted to You. I too want the rights of Justice’” — disclosed through Christ’s acknowledgment that even his redemptive Love could not go further than Wisdom and Justice permitted, his own submission in Gethsemane (Luke 22:42: “not my will but yours”) being the historical enactment of this co-equal assertion; since God cannot be only Love at the expense of Justice (Romans 3:25-26: just AND justifying — the divine attributes equally expressed in the one atonement), the equilibrium in which mercy and truth meet and righteousness and peace kiss (Psalm 85:10) is achieved not through Love overriding Justice but through Love fulfilling Justice’s claim (Isaiah 53:10-11: it pleased the LORD to crush him, the satisfaction of both Love and Justice in the accomplished work; Hebrews 5:8-9: the Son learning obedience through suffering, becoming the source of eternal salvation), with Revelation 15:3 doxologically affirming that Justice itself is worthy of praise — “righteous and true are your ways” — not merely a constraint on Love’s generosity.
