Commanded Silence as Justice Cooperation
The doctrine that the commanded silence imposed on the soul during times of divine chastisement is itself an act of justice-cooperation: as God told Moses to let him act (Exodus 32:10) and Lamentations names sitting in silence under the yoke as the proper response (Lamentations 3:26-28), the soul’s non-interposing silence allows the decreed chastisement (Isaiah 10:22-23) to run its sanctifying course.
