Attentive Vigilance Priority
The VIP doctrine that continuous attentive vigilance against sin not only takes the place of retrospective sorrow (which is vain and fruitless if it does not prevent sin — 2 Corinthians 7:10) but surpasses it by pushing special grace continuously (Ezekiel 36:27; Philippians 4:7) to prevent falling and maintaining the soul always purged; sorrow without amendment also fails as the ground of valid absolution (Matthew 26:41; Proverbs 4:23).
