Faith-Trust Distinction
The VIP doctrine that faith (Hebrews 11:6: assenting to what God has revealed) and trust (Proverbs 3:5-6: leaning not on one’s own understanding; Jeremiah 17:7-8: the tree by the stream) are distinct and sequentially ordered: faith knows about God but trust reaches what faith knows, actively relying on him; the soul rich but ignorant of need (Revelation 3:17) has faith without trust; God shares his plans only with those who trust (Amos 3:7).
