Trinitarian Will as Animator
The doctrine that within the immanent Trinity itself — antecedent to and grounding all economic outward acts — the divine Will is the animating principle that actualizes Love, Wisdom, and Power, making them operative rather than latent: “Our Love is great, infinite and eternal, but if We did not have a Will that animates and gives life to this Love, Our Love would be without life, without works. Our Wisdom seems incredible, Our Power can crush everything in one minute… But if We did not have a Will that wanted to manifest the mastery of Our Wisdom… both Wisdom and Power would have had nothing to do” — the Will’s intratrinitarian animation being the ground for all outward creative acts (Ephesians 1:11: all things done according to the counsel of his will; Proverbs 8:22-31: Wisdom present at creation as master workman activated by the Will’s intention to manifest it; Hebrews 1:3: all things upheld by the word of his power; Romans 11:33-36: wisdom and knowledge operative through the inscrutable divine will; 1 Corinthians 1:24: Christ the power and wisdom of God as the economic form of the intratrinitarian unity; John 1:1-3: the Word as the divine creative principle) — with the same animating-Will required in the creature as the DW: as the body without the soul is lifeless despite having all its senses (Ezekiel 37:1-14: the dry bones requiring the breath; Genesis 2:7: the breath of life animating Adam), so the creature not animated by the DW is “a life of sanctity that is missing,” and by extension the same Will that animates Love/Wisdom/Power within the Trinity makes new surprises of creations in the soul it animates (Isaiah 43:19; Revelation 21:5: behold I make all things new).
