Creation’s Rivers of Love
The doctrine that at the act of creating each thing — sun, stars, rain, earth, air — God embedded operative oceans of uncreated love in each physical effect, so that each drop of sunlight pounds the creature’s eye with his eternal kiss, each sparkling of star repeats his “I love you,” and divine love runs actively and perpetually toward the creature through every moment of sensory existence — “As my uncreated Love created the Sun, It placed oceans of love in it. In each drop of light… my Love ran toward her; and almost pounding sweetly on her eye, hand, step and mouth, It gives her my eternal kiss” — grounded in the Logos-creation theology (John 1:3-5: all created light participating in the uncreated Logos-Light that is Life; Colossians 1:16-17: all things created through and for Christ and held together in him), the theological disclosure of creation as love-communication (Romans 1:19-20: invisible attributes clearly seen through the visible; Psalm 19:1-4: the heavens’ day-and-night speech as this embedded divine address; Wisdom 11:24-26: God loves all things he has made, which exist because he wills them), with Song of Songs 1:2 identifying what the Bride longed for as intimate gift as already constitutively present in each drop of sunlight — only in the Divine Will can the soul find love sufficient to return it in the name of all.
