Eternal Love Seed Doctrine
The doctrine that at the act of creating each human person, God cast the seed of his eternal love into every faculty — “in creating man, I cast into him many seeds of love; in his intelligence, in his eyes, in his word, in his heart, in his hands, in his feet — in everything I placed the seed of love” — making the love-seed eternal by virtue of having been placed by an eternal God, so that “man contains an eternal love within himself, and an eternal love goes toward him constantly”; God then “working inside and outside” simultaneously: from outside through all created things as the external wave (sun, water, food, earth, flower, fire each delivering the wave of eternal love to germinate the interior seed), and from inside to “arrange, confirm and seal” the mutual love-exchange as creation’s purpose (“as I give him eternal love, eternal love he may give to Me — so the creature also can love Me with eternal love, because he contains the seed of it”); the seed’s dignity grounded in the imago Dei (Genesis 1:26-27: to be made in the image of the God who is love is to carry the love-seed constitutively in every faculty — 1 John 4:7-8: love is from God; God is love), the Trinitarian depth of the seed established by its participation in the Father-Son exchange (John 15:9: as the Father loved me, so I have loved you — the seed is of this quality), with the Holy Spirit as agent of interior implantation (Romans 5:5: God’s love poured into our hearts through the Spirit) and the double-light principle as the governing analogy (Psalm 36:9: with you is the spring of life, in your light we see light — the interior seed requires the exterior source to actuate it, neither alone sufficient); the suffocation of the seed named as the mechanism of sin’s blindness — “having suffocated the seed, he has become blind; even though he burns, he does not get warm, and as much as he may drink and eat, his thirst is not quenched” — while the love-wave from creation continues unabated outside, rendering the soul inexcusable (Romans 1:20) yet unreachable.
