Wills-as-Cross Doctrine
The doctrine that the human will and the Divine Will are each the other’s Cross — disclosed through a double structure: (a) when the human will acts from self, it crucifies the Divine Will, driving a nail for each act of opposition through breath, heartbeat, and motion, rejecting the Divine Will’s desire to do good and causing the “night” of God’s absence; (b) when the creature lives in the Divine Will, that Will becomes her Cross in return, but with nails of Light, Sanctity, and Love that “don’t give sufferings, rather they make her Happy and Beautiful with an Enchanting Beauty” and are the Bearers of Great Conquests — the inverse Cross whose inescapable Nails enact the transformation from darkness to light, weakness to fortitude, poverty to riches, passions to virtue (from most wicked slave to Noble Queen); the doctrine’s formal principle: “If the two wills — the human and the Divine — are not United, one will form the Cross of the other,” making the will-relationship inherently cruciform in either direction.
