Will as Life-Principle and Archive Doctrine
The doctrine that the will is the animating life-principle of all the soul’s faculties — not itself a thought, word, gaze, or act, but the source that gives life to each: “the will is not thought, but it gives life to the act of her mind; it is not eye, but it gives life to her gaze; it is not word, but it gives life to each word” — so that acts performed within the Divine Will are permanently sealed in the will as in a living archive, remaining accessible to God and preserving their vital efficacy beyond the moment of their performance: “the gazes she gave, the thoughts she formed, the words she said, the actions she performed remain as though sealed in her will.” The scriptural ground is Genesis 2:7 (God breathing the breath of life into the creature’s nostrils as the animating act corresponding to the will’s giving-of-life to all faculties), Proverbs 4:23 (keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life — the heart/will as the life-source of all that flows from it), Deuteronomy 6:4–5 (love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and strength — the will as the unifying principle named in the Shema’s total-self offering), and Malachi 3:16 / Psalm 56:8 (the divine book of remembrance and divine recording of the tears and acts of the faithful — the will as the created correlate of the divine record).
