Perpetual Victim Doctrine
The doctrine that in every age God has had victim souls from whom, as a creature is capable, he receives the purpose of Creation, Redemption, and Sanctification; without at least one such soul in each time, the divine work would be frustrated and the world shattered (Ezekiel 22:30: seeking one to stand in the gap; Genesis 18:26-32: Abraham’s threshold); Mary was the perfect instance at the Passion, gathering all creaturely response within herself (John 19:25-27); victim souls recapitulate Christ’s representative-sufficiency in each age (Romans 11:5; Hebrews 11:38; Romans 5:18-19; Colossians 1:24).
