Volume 14 — August 6, 1922 “The Divine Will is balance and order.”

STAGE ONE — Independent Biblical Identification

The Divine Will as Perfect Balance / The Balance-Order-Harmony Chain

Jesus opens with a comprehensive cosmological statement: His Will contains perfect balance, and balance generates the entire chain — order, regime, utility, harmony — so that “all things harmonize together as if they were one single thing.”

“My Will contains perfect balance. Balance brings order, regime, utility, harmony. All things harmonize together as if they were one single thing. Order brings equality; equality brings likeness.”

Wisdom 11:20 — “Yes and without these they might have fallen by a single breath, being pursued by Justice, and scattered abroad by the breath of your power; but you arranged all things by measure, number, and weight.” The divine ordering principle is the direct background of Jesus’s balance-claim: the Will that contains perfect balance is the Will that arranged all things by measure, number, and weight — the Wisdom tradition’s precise characterization of the creative ordering. Direct doctrinal parallel

Colossians 1:17 — “He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.” The holding-together is the cosmological form of the balance: the Will in which all created things cohere is the Will whose balance sustains each created thing in its right relation to every other. Direct doctrinal parallel

Romans 11:36 — “For of him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory for ever! Amen.” The cosmological circuit — originating, sustaining, and returning to the divine — is the deeper form of the balance: every created thing is in balance because it is held in the circuit of the Will from which it came. Direct doctrinal parallel

Proverbs 8:22–31 — “The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his work, … I was there. When he set a circle on the surface of the … I was the craftsman by his side.” The Wisdom who was present at creation as the divine craftsman gives the harmony, order, and likeness their sapiential ground: the DW as the Wisdom through whom the balance was originally established. Typological

Trinitarian Harmony as the Archetype

“This is why there is so much harmony, order and likeness in the Three Divine Persons.”

John 17:21–23 — “that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me. The glory which you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one, even as we are one, I in them, and you in me, that they may be perfected into one, that the world may know that you sent me and loved them, even as you loved me.” The Trinitarian unity is the archetype of the harmony and likeness: the perfect oneness of the Three Persons is the source from which the balance of all created things flows and toward which the restoration of man is ordered. Direct doctrinal parallel

1 Corinthians 8:6 — “yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we live through him.” The Trinitarian structure as the cosmological ground of created order. Direct doctrinal parallel

Created Things in Perfect Harmony / Mutual Support

“All created things are in perfect harmony — one is the support, the strength and the life of the other. If just one created thing disharmonized, all the others would roll about and end up in ruin.”

Colossians 1:16–17 — “things have been created through him and for him. … and in him all things are held together.” The mutual support of created things — each sustaining the others — is grounded in Christ as the cosmic bond who holds the entire order in coherence. Direct doctrinal parallel

Hebrews 1:3 — “His Son is the radiance of his glory, the very image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, who, when he had by himself purified us of our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high,” The divine word as the sustaining force of the cosmic harmony — the created order’s balance maintained moment by moment by the Will’s active upholding. Direct doctrinal parallel

Acts 17:28 — “‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’” The divine Will as the medium in which all created things have their mutual interdependence. Direct doctrinal parallel

Man’s Withdrawal as Cosmic Derangement

“Only man moved away from Us, from the balance of Our Will. Oh, how man rolled about, and from the highest place he fell into the deepest abyss!… the gravest thing is to withdraw from the balance of Our Will; it means hurling oneself into chaos, into disorder, into the abyss of all evils.”

Genesis 1:1–2 (CPDV) — “In the beginning, God created heaven and earth But the earth was empty and unoccupied, and darknesses were over the face of the abyss; and so the Spirit of God was brought over the waters” The primordial chaos — tohu wabohu — as the scriptural image for the disorder that man’s withdrawal from the Will’s balance reintroduces into creation. Typological

Genesis 3:17–18 — “Cursed is the ground because of you… it will produce thorns and thistles for you.” The cosmic consequences of man’s departure from the divine order: the derangement of the earth as the external sign of the interior disorder. Direct doctrinal parallel

Romans 8:20–22 (translation pending) — “For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it… the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.” The cosmic derangement from man’s fall — all created things set rolling when the one creature who was meant to hold them in ordered relation to the Creator withdrew. Direct doctrinal parallel

Isaiah 24:4–6 — “The earth mourns and fades away. The world languishes and fades … earth also is polluted under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, and broken the everlasting covenant.” The cosmic mourning and derangement as the consequence of creaturely violation of the divine covenant-order. Typological

Luisa Called to Balance All of Deranged Humanity

“this is why I have called you in a special way into this balance of my Will — so that, as you live in It, you may come to balance all the work of deranged humanity.”

Romans 5:15–19 — “one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the … sinners, even so through the obedience of the one, many will be made righteous.” The one-for-many representative structure — Luisa’s acts in the Will as the “rulers of all the others” follow the same representative logic: one soul living in the balance of the Will providing the ordering principle for the deranged many. Direct doctrinal parallel

1 Corinthians 15:22 — “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.” The second-Adam logic: Adam’s disordering passed to all; Luisa’s re-ordering in the Will provides the counter-movement. Typological

Colossians 1:24 — “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the assembly,” Filling the void of balance — “fill the void of balance of the human will” — is the balance-register of what Paul names as filling up what is lacking. Direct doctrinal parallel

Proverbs 31:10–31 (paraphrase) — the capable woman who “looks well to the ways of her household,” whose acts provide order, provision, and benefit for all. The Queen-figure with her comprehensive ordering role corresponds to Luisa’s being “like a Queen” who brings “all conquests and all harmonies.” Typological

Acts as Seals of Order / The Queen’s Governance

“We will constitute your acts in Our Will as the rulers of all the others, and We will be repaid of the chaos of unfortunate humanity. Each act of yours will be the seal of the order which We will receive in the name of all the others. You will be like a Queen, and will bring Us all conquests and all harmonies.”

Revelation 3:21 — “He who overcomes, I will give to him to sit down with me on my throne, as I also overcame and sat down with my Father on his throne.” The co-enthronement that underlies the Queen designation — the DW soul who conquers (lives in the balance) is granted the throne-share from which all harmonies flow. Direct doctrinal parallel

Genesis 1:28 — “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion.” The Queen’s comprehensive governance as the restoration of the original human vocation: man was created to exercise dominion in the Will’s order, and Luisa’s acts in the Will restore this dominion on behalf of all who surrendered it. Typological

Wisdom 8:1 — “But she reaches from one end to the other with full strength, and orders all things well.” The Wisdom who orders all things — now operative in the DW soul whose acts govern all other acts in the Will’s balance. Typological

Isaiah 9:7 — “Of the increase of his government and of peace there shall be no end, on David’s throne, and on his kingdom, to establish it, and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from that time on, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of Armies will perform this.” The governance and peace of the Kingdom as the eschatological form of the balance restored — Luisa’s acts as the seals of the order anticipating the Kingdom’s fullness. Typological

STAGE TWO — Comparison with Hogan’s Commentary

CORRESPONDENCES

Stage One and Hogan converge on:

  • Genesis 1:1–2 — the primordial chaos before divine ordering; both identify this as the background of the disorder/chaos language
  • Colossians 1:17 — all things held together in Christ; Hogan’s description of the interdependence of creation corresponds to Stage One’s citation
  • The Adam-and-fall structure as the specific form of man’s withdrawal from the Will’s balance
  • The substitution-and-reparation structure of Luisa’s acts as governing all others

DEVIATIONS

Hogan’s Genesis 1:1–2 identification carries an additional theological interpretation Stage One notes but does not develop: the primordial chaos (tohu wabohu) was caused by the rebellion of the angels. This is a patristic reading not stated in the Genesis text itself; it provides a pre-human dimension to the chaos that precedes the divine ordering. Stage One stays with the more textually immediate identification (man’s fall as the re-introduction of chaos) without developing the angelic rebellion interpretation.

ADDITIONS — MINE

  • Wisdom 11:20 — “arranged all things by measure and number and weight”; direct sapiential ground of the balance-claim
  • Romans 11:36 — cosmological circuit as the form of the balance
  • Proverbs 8:22–31 — Wisdom as craftsman at creation; sapiential ground of DW balance
  • John 17:21–23 — Trinitarian unity as the archetype of harmony, order, and likeness
  • 1 Corinthians 8:6 — Trinitarian structure as ground of created order
  • Hebrews 1:3 — upholding all things by the word of his power
  • Genesis 3:17–18 — cursed ground; cosmic consequences of the Fall
  • Romans 8:20–22 — creation subjected to futility; groaning for restoration
  • Isaiah 24:4–6 — earth mourning and languishing; cosmic derangement
  • Romans 5:15–19 — one-for-many representative structure of the re-ordering
  • 1 Corinthians 15:22 — Adam/Christ substitution logic
  • Proverbs 31:10–31 — the Queen-figure’s comprehensive ordering
  • Revelation 3:21 — co-enthronement as the ground of the Queen designation
  • Genesis 1:28 — original dominion-vocation; Queen’s acts as its restoration
  • Wisdom 8:1 — Wisdom ordering all things well
  • Isaiah 9:7 — governance and peace without end; eschatological form of the balance restored

ADDITIONS — HERS

  • Genesis 1:1–3 with the patristic interpretation of tohu wabohu as the aftermath of the angelic rebellion — the chaos preceding divine order as pre-human in origin, with the ordering of Genesis 1 as the divine response both to the angelic disorder and, later, to man’s. This multi-layered reading deepens the cosmos-derangement motif beyond what Stage One developed.
  • Hogan’s diagnostic note: the balance of the Will manifests as spiritual maturity looks increasingly “normal” — early religious fervor tends toward imbalance and excess; deep spiritual integration into the Will produces practical order rather than visible religiosity. No specific Scripture citation; the implicit anchor is Galatians 5:22–23 (the fruits of the Spirit as ordered, not excessive).

VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS

No VIP designation for this entry.

STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS

The entry is cosmological in scope, working from the Trinitarian harmony through the created order’s mutual interdependence to man’s disruption and Luisa’s re-ordering function. The dominant traditions are sapiential (Wisdom 11:20; Proverbs 8:22–31; Wisdom 8:1) and Pauline-cosmological (Colossians 1:16–17; Romans 8:20–22; Romans 5:15–19). The Trinitarian archetype of harmony, order, and likeness (John 17:21–23) provides the goal toward which the DW soul’s balance-restoration is ordered. Hogan’s Genesis 1:1–2 patristic reading is the most distinctive Stage Two contribution: the primordial chaos pre-dates man and anticipates man’s re-introduction of it — the divine re-ordering of Genesis 1 is the type of the DW’s ongoing re-ordering through Luisa’s acts.

Cross-Entry Synthesis

Volume 14 — August 6, 1922 “The Divine Will is balance and order.”

The Divine Will as Perfect Balance / The Cosmological Chain

The entry opens with the most cosmologically comprehensive statement in the Volume 14 corpus: “My Will contains perfect balance,” and from that single claim an entire chain descends — balance to order, order to regime and utility and harmony, harmony to equality, equality to likeness. The chain is generative and irreversible: each term produces the next, and the whole chain has its ground in the Will that contains the balance from which everything else flows.

Stage One’s Wisdom 11:20 — “you have arranged all things by measure and number and weight” — is the sapiential antecedent the entry is reaching back to. The Will that contains perfect balance is the Will that Wisdom describes as the creator’s ordering instrument: measure, number, and weight are the balance in its cosmic form. Colossians 1:17 and Romans 11:36 provide the Pauline anchors: Christ holds all things together (the balance maintained moment by moment), and all things proceed from, through, and for Him (the circuit that is the balance’s deepest form). Proverbs 8:22–31 — Wisdom present at the creation as the craftsman at the Creator’s side — positions the DW as the Wisdom through whom the balance was originally established and through whom it is now being restored.

Hogan adds the diagnostic observation: spiritual maturity looks increasingly balanced and “normal,” while early religious fervor can look impressively holy but structurally unbalanced. The implication is that the DW’s balance is not religious intensity but integrated order — the deeper the entry into the Will, the more natural and ordered the life looks from outside. The implicit scriptural ground is Galatians 5:22–23: the fruits of the Spirit are not dramatic but ordered.

Trinitarian Harmony as the Archetype

“This is why there is so much harmony, order and likeness in the Three Divine Persons.”

The Trinitarian unity is not one illustration among many but the source from which the entry’s entire cosmological chain derives its content. Harmony, order, and likeness in the Three Persons is not a parallel to creaturely harmony — it is the original of which creaturely harmony is the image and reflection. The Will that contains perfect balance is the Trinitarian Will; the balance of created things is the participation in the Trinitarian order.

Stage One identifies John 17:21–23 as the primary scriptural ground: “that they may be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you.” The Trinitarian oneness is the archetype of the harmony and likeness toward which the DW soul’s balance-restoration is ordered. The entry thus positions the DW not as a discipline of self-improvement but as a participation in the Trinitarian life’s own internal ordering — balance restored in the creature is the Trinitarian harmony echoing through creation.

The Cosmic Harmony and Its Fragility / Man’s Catastrophic Departure

“If just one created thing disharmonized, all the others would roll about and end up in ruin. Only man moved away from Us, from the balance of Our Will.”

Hogan names this rightly as God’s ecosystem: every created thing is dependent on every other, and the balance is what allows each to carry out its function without disruption. The mutual interdependence Colossians 1:16–17 (“all things were created through him and for him… in him all things hold together”) describes structurally is here described dynamically: each thing is “the support, the strength and the life of the other.” The Will is the medium in which all things support each other, and withdrawing from the Will is withdrawing from the supporting medium — the result is rolling and ruin.

The Fall is the entry of the one creature who could choose into the chaos that was constitutively impossible for the rest of creation. Genesis 1:1–2 provides the type — Hogan identifies it with the patristic reading that the tohu wabohu reflected the prior angelic rebellion — and Genesis 3:17–18 provides the human form: the cursed ground, the thorns and thistles, the entire creaturely order bent by the one creaturely departure. Romans 8:20–22 gives this its doctrinal form: “the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now” — the groaning is precisely the rolling-about that followed the one creature’s departure from the balance. Isaiah 24:4–6 extends the picture: “the earth mourns and withers… the earth is defiled under its inhabitants; they have transgressed the laws.” The cosmic derangement from human sin is not metaphor but the literal consequence of man’s structural position within the created order.

The identification of the Fall’s consequence as “chaos” and “disorder” — words Hogan uses to explain the Genesis 1:2 chaos — creates a typological loop: the primordial chaos that God ordered into creation is re-introduced by man’s sin, and what Genesis 1 accomplished through the divine ordering command must now be accomplished again through the DW’s re-ordering work. The entry positions Luisa’s role within this second-ordering as structurally analogous to the Spirit hovering over the waters in Genesis 1:2 — the divine operative principle that will bring order out of the renewed chaos.

Luisa Called to Balance All of Deranged Humanity / Acts as Seals of Order

“We will constitute your acts in Our Will as the rulers of all the others, and We will be repaid of the chaos of unfortunate humanity. Each act of yours will be the seal of the order which We will receive in the name of all the others.”

The substitution-structure of this movement is precise: one soul’s acts in the Will become the “rulers” and “seals” of all other acts — governing and ordering them representatively. Stage One identifies Romans 5:15–19 as the primary Pauline anchor: “by the one man’s obedience the many will be made righteous.” The representative logic is identical: one’s ordered act in the Will provides the governing principle for the disordered many. 1 Corinthians 15:22 supplies the Adam/Christ substitution type: as Adam’s disordering passed to all, so the DW soul’s re-ordering in Christ provides the counter-movement.

Hogan notes the important word “deranged”: humanity moved away from the balance and is now deranged — structurally out of order. The word is clinical, not poetic: derangement means the loss of the proper arrangement, the configuration gone wrong. The DW soul’s acts “in order” are therefore the seals of what derangement removed — the proper configuration restored, act by act, in the Will that maintains the original arrangement.

The Queen-figure who brings “all conquests and all harmonies” connects Revelation 3:21 (co-enthronement) to Genesis 1:28 (original dominion-vocation). The Queen’s governance is not a new dignitary role but the restoration of what was always man’s proper position in the created order: to exercise dominion from within the Will’s balance, so that the creation is held in its ordered relation to the Creator. Stage One identifies Proverbs 31:10–31 (the capable woman who orders her household comprehensively) as the Wisdom tradition’s form of the Queen-figure. Wisdom 8:1 — “she orders all things well” — supplies the sapiential quality of the governance: the DW soul’s ordering acts as the operative form of the Wisdom that orders all things.

Synthesis

The dominant biblical imagination is sapiential-cosmological: Wisdom 11:20 (measure and number and weight), Proverbs 8:22–31 (Wisdom as craftsman at creation), Wisdom 8:1 (ordering all things well), and Colossians 1:16–17 (all things created through and held together in Christ) constitute the scriptural infrastructure of the entry’s balance-doctrine. The Trinitarian harmony as archetype (John 17:21–23) provides the ultimate referent; the Pauline co-representative structure (Romans 5:15–19) provides the mechanism of Luisa’s re-ordering function.

The scriptural traditions most load-bearing are: the sapiential ordering tradition (Wisdom 11:20; Proverbs 8:22–31), the Pauline cosmic-coherence passages (Colossians 1:16–17; Romans 8:20–22), and the representative-obedience structure (Romans 5:15–19; 1 Corinthians 15:22). Hogan’s Genesis 1:1–2 patristic reading is the most significant Stage Two contribution: the primordial chaos as the angelic rebellion’s aftermath, with the divine ordering of Genesis 1 as the type of the DW’s re-ordering through Luisa’s acts.

Three findings carry the greatest weight. First, the entry discloses the PDW-1 purpose in a new key: the purpose of creation is not only that the creature render glory to the Creator but that the creature maintain the cosmic balance through which all created things fulfill their function. When man withdrew from the Will’s balance, he disrupted not only his own relation to God but the entire created order’s coherence — and the PDW-1 purpose is fulfilled when Luisa’s acts in the Will restore that cosmic balance representatively. Second, the ECA-1 mechanism receives its cosmological form: acts performed in the Will become “the rulers of all the others” — governing not just other acts but the ordering principle of the entire created disorder, sealing the order in the Will’s name on behalf of all. Third, the Trinitarian harmony-order-likeness chain grounds the entry’s cosmology in the divine life itself: the balance Luisa restores is not merely cosmic tidiness but the participation of the created order in the Trinitarian life’s own internal ordering — which is why “harmony, order and likeness” characterize both the Trinity and the created things living in the Will’s balance.

14-1922-08-06

ECA-1 update — cosmological-balance / acts-as-rulers-of-all-others form: “We will constitute your acts in Our Will as the rulers of all the others… Each act of yours will be the seal of the order which We will receive in the name of all the others.” The ECA-1 mechanism given its cosmological scope: acts in the Will become the governing ordering-principle of all deranged human acts, sealing the balance in the Will’s name on behalf of all. Most cosmologically comprehensive ECA-1 register in the corpus. Governing anchors: Romans 5:15–19; 1 Corinthians 15:22; Wisdom 8:1.

PDW-1 update — balance-restoration / cosmic-order-repaid form: “We will be repaid of the chaos of unfortunate humanity.” The purpose of creation disclosed in the balance-register: not only the rendering of glory but the maintenance of the cosmic balance through which all created things fulfill their function. Man’s withdrawal from the Will’s balance disrupted the entire created order; the DW soul’s acts restore it representatively. Governing anchors: Romans 8:20–22; Colossians 1:16–17; Wisdom 11:20.

IDR-1 update — balance-restoration / cosmic-order-reintegration form: “By living in my Will, you will balance yourself, you will be in order and in perfect harmony with Us and with all things created by Us.” The IDR-1 image-restoration in its cosmological register: the deranged image re-ordered through the Will’s balance, man restored to his position in the created harmony. Governing anchors: Genesis 1:28; Romans 5:19; Colossians 1:17.
