11-1915-07-28 Biblical Resonance Analysis
Volume 11 — July 28, 1915 “One who does the Divine Will is so much identified with Jesus that their hearts become one; so they share the merit of saving souls.”
STAGE ONE — Independent Biblical Identification
Privation Converted: The Crown of Pain Around the Heart
“I offer You this privation of You… in order to give salvation to as many souls for as many instants as I am deprived of You. I place the pains which I suffer when I am without You like a crown around your Heart in order to prevent the offenses of the creatures from entering into It, and to prevent You from condemning any soul to hell.”
Colossians 1:24 — “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the assembly,” The instant-by-instant offering of privation for souls’ salvation is the Pauline “filling up” applied with granular precision — not a general offering of suffering but each nanosecond of deprivation directly apportioned for souls. Direct doctrinal parallel
2 Corinthians 12:9–10 — “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” … when I am weak, then am I strong.” The privation that Luisa feels as continuous death is the weakness in which the divine power operates most purely — the condition of privation is not a deficit in the apostolic work but its most potent instrument. Direct doctrinal parallel
Psalm 22:3 — “But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel.” The pains placed “like a crown around your Heart” create an enthroned space — a protective enclosure that is simultaneously a gift and a barrier; the crown of praise/pain that elevates and protects the Heart. Affective/meditative
Song of Songs 3:11 — “Go out, you daughters of Zion, and see King Solomon, with the crown with which his mother has crowned him, in the day of his weddings, in the day of the gladness of his heart.” The crowning of the Beloved as a love-act — Luisa’s crown of pains around the Heart is the bridal crowning of the Spouse’s Heart, a love-offering that protects it from the grief of creatures’ offenses. Affective/meditative
Ezekiel 22:30 — “I sought for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I would not destroy it; but I found no one.” The crown of pain forming a protective perimeter around the Heart to prevent offenses entering and to prevent condemnation — the breach-standing posture now encircled around the Heart itself; Luisa’s pains as the wall of defense. Typological
Mutual Holding: Inseparability from Both Sides
“So you desire what I want. With this, you really hold Me in your power, and I hold you. You cannot detach yourself from Me, nor can I from you. Then, how can you say that I have left you?”
John 17:21–23 — “that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me. The glory which you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one, even as we are one, I in them, and you in me, that they may be perfected into one, that the world may know that you sent me and loved them, even as you loved me.” The unity that makes separation impossible from both sides — “you cannot detach yourself from Me, nor can I from you” — is the unity-prayer fulfilled symmetrically; neither side can withdraw because the union is complete. Direct doctrinal parallel
John 15:4 — “Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me.” The mutual abiding that makes mutual detachment impossible — the vine cannot leave the branch any more than the branch can leave the vine once the grafting is complete. Direct doctrinal parallel
Song of Songs 2:16 — “My beloved is mine, and I am his. He browses among the lilies.” The mutual possession stated as the ground of inseparability — Luisa desires what Jesus desires; their desires are one; the mutual holding follows from the mutual ownership. Affective/meditative
1 Corinthians 6:17 — “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.” The spirit-union underlying the mutual inseparability — one spirit admits no separation from either side; the “nor can I from you” follows from the structural oneness. Direct doctrinal parallel
Romans 8:38–39 — “For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The inseparability Paul names as absolute — the entry discloses it is absolute from Christ’s side as well as ours: “nor can I from you.” Direct doctrinal parallel
One Single Heart: The Unity Through Which All Souls Are Saved
“One who does my Will is so identified with Me, that her heart and Mine form one single heart. And since all souls who are saved, are saved through this Heart, and as Its heartbeat is formed, they take off toward salvation coming out from the mouth of this Heart — I will give to the soul the merit of these saved souls, since she wanted together with Me the salvation of those souls, and since I used her as the very life of my own Heart.”
John 14:20–21 — “In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. One who has my commandments and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.” The mutual indwelling taken to its ultimate register: one single heart is the structural reality named here — not two hearts linked but one heart formed by the total interpenetration of indwelling love. Direct doctrinal parallel
Ezekiel 36:26 — “I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh.” The new heart given by God — the DW soul’s heart transformed into and unified with the Heart of Jesus; the prophetic promise of divine heart-gift reaching its maximum in the one-heart union. Typological
Jeremiah 31:33 — “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says the LORD: “I will put my law in their inward parts, and I will write it in their heart. I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” The heart as the site of divine indwelling and union — the one-heart union is the maximum form of this inscription; the law written on the heart is now the Will forming one heart with the soul. Typological
John 19:34 — “However, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.” The Sacred Heart as the source from which salvation flows — the blood and water pouring forth from the pierced Heart is the sacramental outpouring of the saving Heart through which all souls are saved; the DW soul inside this Heart shares in the outpouring. Typological
Hebrews 7:25 — “Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.” All souls saved are saved through this Heart that always lives to intercede — the entry discloses the DW soul as the life of this Heart, sharing from within its constitutive intercessory act. Direct doctrinal parallel
John 12:32 — “And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” The drawing-all-to-himself is the Heart’s fundamental motion — “as its heartbeat is formed, they take off toward salvation coming out from the mouth of this Heart” is the personal interior experience of what John 12:32 names as the universal drawing-act. Direct doctrinal parallel
Revelation 22:17 — “The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” He who hears, let him say, “Come!” He who is thirsty, let him come. He who desires, let him take the water of life freely.” The one-heart of Christ-and-DW-soul is the Spirit-and-Bride heart whose united “Come” draws souls to salvation; the heartbeat’s forming is the “Come” spoken from within the one Heart. Direct doctrinal parallel
Daniel 12:3 — “Those who are wise will shine as the brightness of the expanse. Those who turn many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever.” The merit of turning many to righteousness — “I will give to the soul the merit of these saved souls” — is the eschatological reward Daniel names for those whose lives become instruments of others’ salvation; the DW soul turns all souls to righteousness through the one Heart. Direct doctrinal parallel
Acts 4:32 — “The multitude of those who believed were of one heart and soul. Not one of them claimed that anything of the things which he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.” The early Church’s one-heart-and-soul as the ecclesial figure for the deeper one-heart of Christ and the DW soul — the entry’s one-heart union is the doctrinal root of which Acts 4:32 is the communal fruit. Typological
1 John 3:1–2 — “See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the … when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is.” The conformity-to-Christ in its ultimate form — one heart, not merely likeness but shared existence; the “like him” of 1 John 3:2 reaches its maximum in the one-heart union. Direct doctrinal parallel
Romans 8:34 — “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” The Heart interceding from the right hand — the DW soul as the life of this Heart participates in the intercession through which all souls are saved; she is inside the act named here. Christological/Trinitarian

ADDITIONS — HERS
- Thérèse of Lisieux parallel: Hogan draws the entry’s “I desire what You want” alongside Thérèse’s “I choose whatever you choose for me” — noting the similarity in voluntary self-alignment with the divine will. The distinction Hogan draws is important: it is not resigned acceptance but active choice — “I choose. It’s a fantastic act of the will.” Implicit scriptural background: Psalm 40:8 (“I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart”) and Luke 22:42 (“not my will, but yours, be done”). Both Luisa and Thérèse move beyond Gethsemane’s resignation toward the Psalmic delight in the divine will.
- “Little harvest” in heaven: Hogan’s pastoral application of the merit-for-saved-souls promise: “you’re going to have a little harvest… someone who can say to you ‘I’m here because of you.‘” This is the eschatological dimension of Daniel 12:3 given personal and communal form.
- Looking through Christ’s eyes: Hogan applies “I used her as the very life of my own Heart” to the practical present: “when we’re consciously living in the divine will… he’s looking out through our eyes, he’s speaking through our mouth, he is reaching out to people, he’s loving them through our love, he’s serving them through our hands.” This is the July 9 new-Humanity disclosure in its practical instantiation.
VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS
VIP #18 (Volume 11): Hogan explicitly designates this entry as a VIP. The one-heart disclosure — “her heart and Mine form one single heart” — is the specific content she highlights, identifying it as the advance from will-unity to heart-unity: “we have just been looking at the fact that we become one will with him, now we shove on to one heart with him.”
STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS
The entry advances the will-unity arc into heart-unity — the most architecturally significant SUW-1 development since the will-indistinguishability of February 8, 1915. Hogan’s identification of the progression (will → heart) and the one-heart as the ground of the soul’s merit for all saved souls gives the entry its doctrinal frame; Stage One’s John 19:34, Revelation 22:17, and Daniel 12:3 provide the scriptural architecture Hogan does not develop. The crown-of-pains image (Luisa’s privation-sufferings placed as a protective ring around Christ’s Heart) extends the May 18 sheltering-distributing register into a new protective-crown form, grounded in Ezekiel 22:30 and Song of Songs 3:11.
Cross-Entry Synthesis
Volume 11 — July 28, 1915 “One who does the Divine Will is so much identified with Jesus that their hearts become one; so they share the merit of saving souls.”
Privation Converted: The Crown Around the Heart
The entry opens in the same mode as July 25 — Luisa lamenting the privation — but introduces a new element of doctrinal precision: the privation itself is being apportioned, instant by instant, for souls. Each nanosecond of suffering the absence is offered for a soul’s salvation. The granularity is deliberate and significant: not a general offering of suffering but a direct correspondence, one instant of deprivation redeemed as one instant of apostolic currency.
The crown-of-pains image — “I place the pains which I suffer when I am without You like a crown around your Heart” — is the entry’s most structurally novel apostolic gesture. The May 18 sheltering-distributing movement (Register 25) had Luisa holding Jesus sheltered within herself from offenses. This entry inverts the geometry: the pains are placed around the Heart as an external protective crown, a perimeter that prevents offenses from entering. Ezekiel 22:30’s breach-standing posture is now encircled around the Heart itself — not standing at a single breach-point but forming a complete enclosing wall of protective pain.
Song of Songs 3:11 — the king crowned by his mother on the day of his wedding — gives this image its bridal register: the crown of pains is a love-offering, the bride crowning the Heart of the Spouse with the only gift she currently has to give — her suffering of his absence. Colossians 1:24 grounds the mechanism: the filling up of what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ for the sake of the body. The specific “lacking” here is the Heart’s exposure to offenses; the crown of privation-pain is what fills that gap.
Mutual Holding: The Symmetric Inseparability
Jesus’s response to Luisa’s lament discloses the inseparability from both sides simultaneously: “you cannot detach yourself from Me, nor can I from you.” This is the SUW-1 arc’s clearest approach to the consummation declaration. The July 9 formulation stated it from Christ’s side (“I should get rid of Myself, which is not possible”). This entry states it symmetrically — neither can detach — disclosing the full mutual structure of the will-union that has been building across Volumes 11’s second half.
The mechanism Jesus identifies is precise: “So you desire what I want. With this, you really hold Me in your power, and I hold you.” The holding is not affective sentiment but ontological consequence: desiring what Jesus desires means the soul’s will has become his will; his will is his own nature; to detach from the soul would be to detach from his own will. John 17’s unity-prayer formulation — “that they may be one as we are one” — is disclosed here as having reached its structural completion: the unity is now mutual and indissoluble. Song of Songs 2:16’s “my beloved is mine, and I am his” gives the bridal register to what is equally an ontological reality: mutual ownership and mutual holding as the same condition.
1 Corinthians 6:17 — “he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him” — supplies the structural ground: one spirit admits no separation from either side. Romans 8:38–39’s comprehensive list of things that cannot separate — “nor anything else in all creation” — is now disclosed as applying from Christ’s side as well: “nor can I from you.” The separation is cosmically impossible not only because of Christ’s faithfulness to us but because of what the union has made us to each other.
One Single Heart: Through Which All Souls Are Saved
The entry’s most architecturally novel disclosure is the advance from will-unity to heart-unity. Hogan identifies the sequence explicitly: we have heard about one will; now we hear about one heart. The will is the faculty of decision; the heart is the faculty of love. The will-unity of February 8, 1915 and the heart-unity of July 28 together constitute the complete identification that the entry’s title names: “her heart and Mine form one single heart.”
The theological depth of this disclosure is considerable. Will-unity means two wills have become indistinguishable. Heart-unity means two loves have become a single organ of love. The Divine Will is the divine life as power and direction; the divine Heart is the divine life as love and self-gift. The DW soul’s identification with Jesus is now complete at both levels — directive and affective, volitional and desirative, will and love together as one.
John 14:20’s “I in you, and you in me” — the entry’s only Hogan-identified citation — is the mutual indwelling disclosed now as generating a structural unity: not two hearts in mutual indwelling but one heart formed by total interpenetration. Ezekiel 36:26’s “new heart” and Jeremiah 31:33’s law written on hearts give this the prophetic foundation — God’s own heart-gift, promised to Israel, fulfilled at its maximum in the DW soul who receives not merely the law written on her heart but the Heart itself as hers.
The salvific consequence is architecturally stunning: “all souls who are saved, are saved through this Heart.” The Heart of Jesus is the single organ through which all salvation flows — Hebrews 7:25 (saves to the uttermost, always interceding), John 12:32 (draws all people to himself), John 19:34 (blood and water from the pierced Heart). The DW soul is inside this Heart as its life. As the Heart beats — as its saving motion is formed — souls “take off toward salvation coming out from the mouth of this Heart.” Revelation 22:17’s “Spirit and Bride say, Come” is the closest scriptural form of this joint-Heart invitation: the one Heart’s voice drawing souls to salvation is the unified voice of Christ and the DW soul from within the single heart they form.
The merit-disclosure that follows is the entry’s most formally significant apostolic statement: Jesus gives the soul the merit of all souls saved through the one Heart. This is MWI-1 at its doctrinal maximum. The first MWI-1 instance (October 1, 1914) established that the will’s identification with the divine scope measures merit — the Passion merited as if all were saved because Jesus willed all. The second instance (November 4, 1914) added the post-mortem apostolic-extension dimension. This entry adds the heart-union dimension: the DW soul receives the merit of all saved souls because (a) she desired their salvation together with Christ and (b) Jesus used her as “the very life of my own Heart” through which their salvation was accomplished. The credit is grounded in both desire-alignment (will-unity) and structural identity (heart-unity as the life of the saving organ).
Daniel 12:3 — “those who turn many to righteousness, like the stars forever and ever” — gives the eschatological form of this harvest: the DW soul who is the life of the saving Heart inherits the stellar brightness of those who have turned multitudes to righteousness, her merit the full measure of all the Heart’s saving acts.
Synthesis
Hogan designates this entry VIP #18.
Dominant biblical imagination: The Sacred Heart tradition (John 19:34, Hebrews 7:25, John 12:32) and the mutual-indwelling tradition (John 14:20–21, 17:21–23, Song of Songs 2:16) are the two primary imaginative poles — the first establishing the Heart as the single organ through which all salvation flows, the second establishing the one-heart union as the structural form of the complete identification between the DW soul and Christ.
Most load-bearing scriptural traditions:
The Sacred Heart / saving-Heart tradition (John 19:34, Hebrews 7:25, John 12:32, Revelation 22:17) carries the weight of the one-heart salvific disclosure: the Heart from which blood and water poured at Calvary, which always intercedes to the uttermost, which draws all to itself — the DW soul is the life of this Heart, inside its saving motion, the Spirit-and-Bride voice of its “Come.”
The mutual indwelling / inseparability tradition (John 14:20–21, John 17:21–23, 1 Corinthians 6:17, Romans 8:38–39) carries the weight of the symmetric mutual-holding: neither can detach because the union is structural, the spirit is one, and nothing in creation can accomplish from outside what the union itself makes impossible from within.
The merit-of-turning-many tradition (Daniel 12:3, Colossians 1:24) carries the weight of the credit-for-saved-souls promise: the filling up of the Heart’s saving work and the eschatological brightness awarded to those who have turned multitudes to righteousness.
Three findings of highest theological significance:
First: the advance from will-unity to heart-unity is the SUW-1 arc’s most complete disclosure in the corpus to date. Will-unity (February 8, 1915) established the indistinguishability of decisions and directions; heart-unity (July 28, 1915) establishes the indistinguishability of loves. Together they complete the two-sided identification that the entry’s title names: “so identified with Me that her heart and Mine form one single heart.” The formal “inseparable Luisa” title remains undeployed in the diary text, but its doctrinal ground is now fully constituted.
Second: the entry discloses that all souls saved are saved through the one Heart that the DW soul and Christ together form. This is not an instrumental claim (that the DW soul’s intercession contributes to salvation) but a constitutive one: she is the life of the saving organ itself. The Heart beats; souls fly to salvation; she is what makes the Heart alive. The Sacred Heart tradition and the DW soul’s identification converge here at their structural maximum.
Third: the merit-for-all-saved-souls disclosure is MWI-1’s doctrinal apex. The soul receives credit for every soul saved through the one Heart because she desired their salvation together with Christ and was the life of the saving organ. Both conditions are named: the desire (will-unity as co-intent) and the identity (heart-unity as co-life). The harvest Hogan names — souls saying “I’m here because of you” — is the eschatological realization of Daniel 12:3’s stellar brightness: the reward calibrated to the Heart’s full salvific scope.
Observation Notes
See this note in volume context →
11-1915-07-28
VIP #18 (Volume 11): Hogan designates this entry explicitly as a VIP. Specifically marks the one-heart disclosure: “her heart and Mine form one single heart” — identifying it as the advance from will-unity to heart-unity: “we have just been looking at the fact that we become one will with him, now we shove on to one heart with him.” VIP count Volume 11: #18.
SUW-1 — heart-unity apex: “One who does my Will is so identified with Me, that her heart and Mine form one single heart.” The will-unity of February 8, 1915 (will-indistinguishability) now advances to heart-unity — the two loves forming a single organ of love. Combined with the symmetric inseparability formulation (“you cannot detach yourself from Me, nor can I from you”), this is the SUW-1 arc’s most complete disclosure in the corpus to date. The formal “inseparable Luisa” title has not yet appeared in the diary text but its doctrinal ground is now fully constituted.
MWI-1 — heart-merit apex: “I will give to the soul the merit of these saved souls, since she wanted together with Me the salvation of those souls, and since I used her as the very life of my own Heart.” This is MWI-1’s doctrinal maximum: the soul credited with the merit of every soul saved through the one Heart, grounded in both desire-alignment (will-unity as co-intent) and structural identity (heart-unity as co-life of the saving organ). Two conditions named: desiring salvation with Christ (will-scope principle) and being the life of the saving Heart (heart-union principle). Governing anchors: Daniel 12:3; Colossians 1:24; Hebrews 7:25.
AJD-1 — life-of-the-Heart extension: “I used her as the very life of my own Heart” — advances the July 9 new-Humanity disclosure; the DW soul is not only the Humanity in the world but the life of the saving Heart through which all salvation flows. The AJD-1 identification is now complete at both the active (Humanity) and the affective (Heart’s life) levels.
VSC-1 — crown-around-Heart — Register 28 candidate: “I place the pains which I suffer when I am without You like a crown around your Heart in order to prevent the offenses of the creatures from entering into It.” The privation-pains placed as a protective ring encircling the Heart — distinct from Register 25 (holding Christ within as shelter / distributing outward) in geometry: the crown is external and encircling, not internal. Flagged as Register 28 candidate; confirmation sought in subsequent entries.
