Verbum-Identity Doctrine
The VIP doctrine that the Verbum’s very identity — manifestation, communication, divine union with the human — explains why the Incarnation is the only possible means of achieving divine-human union: the Word who took flesh “did not remain flesh — He remained as He was” (John 1:1; Philippians 2:6-7: form of God retained), so the Incarnation is the supreme enactment of what the Verbum always already is; without it, there would be no means to unite God and man (John 1:14; Hebrews 1:1-3; 1 John 1:1-2; Colossians 1:15; 1 Timothy 2:5; Ephesians 2:14-16).
