Upright Intention as Operative Light
The VIP doctrine that the upright intention is the soul’s light — converting her into light and enabling her to operate in a divine manner — grounded in Christ’s teaching that the eye (intention) is the lamp of the body (Matthew 6:22-23; Luke 11:34-36) and the identification of God himself with light (1 John 1:5); unlike ordinary sunlight that illuminates walls without transforming them, the upright working transforms everything it touches into light itself (2 Corinthians 3:18: transformed into the same image), because God works within the soul to will and to act (Philippians 2:13), so that the soul becomes light in the Lord (Ephesians 5:8) rather than merely illuminated.
