Soul-as-Food Doctrine
The doctrine that just as Christ makes himself the creature’s Eucharistic food (John 6:51), the creature can make herself Christ’s food by converting all her interior (thoughts, affections, desires, inclinations, heartbeats, sighs, love) toward him — the mechanism being Christ’s own definition of his food as doing the Father’s will (John 4:34), so the soul who orients all toward Christ provides exactly that; the mutual exchange is grounded in the Eucharistic mutual-abiding (John 6:55-57; Song of Songs 5:1; Romans 12:1; Galatians 2:20; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
