Sin-Effects-Dichotomy Doctrine
The doctrine that the identical event of a fall has two pedagogically distinct effects according to interior disposition: for the ill-disposed it operates as “an example, a spur, an incentive to fall into the abyss of evil”; for the well-disposed it operates as “an antidote, a deterrent, help and defense so as not to fall” — the exculpatory corollary being that Adam, who had no prior fall to serve as antidote, bore a lighter moral burden than all subsequent humanity for whom each fall of another could have served as deterrent.
