Confidence (Staircase and Arm-Binder)
The theological virtue of confidence identified as a two-armed staircase: one arm embraces Christ’s Humanity as the rungs for ascending to the Divinity; the other embraces the Divinity and draws celestial graces in torrents; the confident soul’s petition so captivates the divine that God’s own arms are “bound” — unable to refuse without doing violence to His own love.
