14-1922-08-29 Biblical Resonance Analysis

Volume 14 — August 29, 1922 “One who lives in the Divine Will receives the grafting of the works of Jesus and of the goods which they contain.”

STAGE ONE — Independent Biblical Identification

The Humanity’s Goods: Always in Act of Giving

“All that my Humanity did — prayers, words, works, steps and pains — is in act of giving itself to man. But who takes it? Who receives the grafting of my works?”

John 1:16 — “From his fullness we all received grace upon grace.” The perpetual outpouring from the Humanity’s fullness — “grace upon grace,” the second wave following the first in continuous succession — corresponds to the Humanity always being “in act of giving itself.” The fullness does not diminish with giving; the graces are perpetually available to those who receive. Direct doctrinal parallel

Hebrews 7:25 — “Therefore he is also able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, seeing that he lives forever to make intercession for them.” “Always lives to make intercession” names the perpetual act-of-giving that the Humanity sustains: the intercession is not a past event but an eternal present. The “always” is the precise register of the goods that are perpetually “in act of giving themselves.” Direct doctrinal parallel

Colossians 2:3 — “in whom all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden.” The goods of the Humanity — all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge — are not depleted by giving but hidden in the one who holds all; they await those who draw near to receive them. Direct doctrinal parallel

Ephesians 1:7–8 — “In him we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace which he made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,” The lavishing of grace — according to the riches, not a rationed minimum — corresponds to the Humanity wanting to give its goods “with so much love.” The divine disposition is toward abundance, not economy; the restraint is on the receiving side, not the giving. Direct doctrinal parallel

The Grafting Principle: Union as the Condition of Reception

“One who draws near Me, and prays uniting herself with Me, receives the grafting of my prayer and the goods it contains. One who speaks, who teaches, united with Me, receives the grafting and the fruits of my words… If there is no union, the goods of one remain as though dead for the other.”

John 15:4–5 — “Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. … apart from me you can do nothing.” The vine-and-branch abiding is the governing scriptural image for the grafting doctrine. The branch grafted into the vine receives the sap of the vine’s life — but the unconnected branch produces nothing. “The goods of one remain as though dead for the other” is John 15:6 stated in the reverse: the vine’s life is available, but it is dead to the branch that does not abide. Direct doctrinal parallel

Romans 11:17–18 — “But if some of the branches we… But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the root and of the richness of the olive tree, don’t boast over the branches. But if you boast, remember that it is not you who support the root, but the root supports you.” Paul uses explicit grafting language — the soul “grafted in” as a wild olive shoot and thereby made to share in the nourishing root — which directly echoes the entry’s “grafting of my works.” The grafting is not metaphorical in Paul’s usage; it describes the actual mechanism of participation in the goods of the root. Direct doctrinal parallel

Galatians 2:20 — “I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.” The crucified-and-yet-living union — the life lived in the flesh by the Son’s own life — is the Pauline experiential register of receiving the grafting of Christ’s pains and works. The one who suffers united with Christ does not suffer alongside Him but through Him: it is the Humanity’s suffering active in and through the soul’s own. Direct doctrinal parallel

John 14:20 — “In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.” The mutual indwelling as the structure that makes the specific grafting possible: the soul in Christ receives the goods of what Christ is; Christ in the soul distributes those goods through the soul’s specific activities. Direct doctrinal parallel

Philippians 3:10 — “that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed to his death,” The activity-specific sharing — sharing His sufferings, becoming conformed to His death — corresponds to the specific-grafting principle: not a generic union but a participative identification with each particular form of His redemptive activity. One who suffers united with Him receives the grafting of His pains specifically. Direct doctrinal parallel

John 15:6 — “If a man doesn’t remain in me, he is thrown out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them, throw them into the fire, and they are burned.” The branch without abiding withers — the goods of the vine available to it remain inaccessible, as though dead. The goods don’t disappear from the vine; the branch simply does not receive them. This is the negative image of “the goods of one remain as though dead for the other”: the suspended goods and the withered branch are the same reality from two angles. Direct doctrinal parallel

1 Corinthians 6:17 — “But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.” The joining that produces one spirit — the condition of participation in the Humanity’s goods — is the concise Pauline statement of what the grafting requires: not proximity but union. Direct doctrinal parallel

The Wheel of the Humanity: Center, Rays, and Circumference

“Imagine a wheel: the center of the wheel is my Humanity; the rays, all that It did and suffered; the circumference on which the rays are fixed is the whole human family which rotates around the wheel. Now, if this circumference, this second circle of the wheel, does not draw near to receive the connection with the rays, the rays remain suspended and cannot communicate the goods which the center of the wheel contains.”

Colossians 1:17–18 — “He is before all things, and in him all things are held together. He is the head of the body, the assembly, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he might have the preeminence.” The Humanity as the center in whom all things hold together — the structural cohesion of the whole radiating from the one head — is the christological ground for the wheel image. Every ray is what it is only because it is connected to the center; the circumference draws near to receive what flows from the center through the rays. Christological/Trinitarian

Ephesians 1:10 — “to an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in him.” The anakephalaiōsis — all things recapitulated in Christ — is the eschatological form of what the wheel accomplishes: all creaturely activities gathered into the center, all the Humanity’s goods distributed through the rays to the circumference. Christological/Trinitarian

Acts 17:28 — “‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’” The Humanity as the cosmic center within which all creaturely movement occurs corresponds to the circumference rotating around the wheel: the human family already moves and has its being within the one whose goods are perpetually offered. The tragedy is that most of the circumference rotates without drawing near to receive the connection. Direct doctrinal parallel

Romans 11:36 — “For of him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory for ever! Amen.” The circular structure — from the center (from him), through the rays (through him), and returning to the center (to him) — is the cosmic logic of the wheel. The rays extend from the Humanity; the goods flow from the Humanity through the rays; and through the grafting they return to God as the human family’s restored participation in the divine life. Christological/Trinitarian

Hebrews 9:14 — “how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without defect to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?” The eternal Spirit as the ground of the Humanity’s offering being perpetually available — not exhausted by the historical Passion but eternally present before God — corresponds to the goods being “in act of giving themselves” in an eternal now. The offering is not past; the rays are permanently extended. Christological/Trinitarian

The DW Soul as the Second Circle: Receiving All the Rays

“This is why with great eagerness I go in search for souls who want to live in my Will: to be able to fix in them the rays of my wheel. My Will will give them grace, so as to be able to form the circumference of the second circle of the wheel, and they will receive all my goods which others reject and despise.”

Colossians 1:24 — “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the assembly,” The soul grafted into the Humanity’s pains receives their goods and distributes them through the body — which is precisely what forming the second circle accomplishes: the DW soul receives the rays others reject and thereby becomes the node through which the suspended goods reach the whole body. Direct doctrinal parallel

John 17:22–23 — “The glory which you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one, even as we are one, I in them, and you in me,” The transfer of divine glory — given to those brought into union — corresponds to the soul receiving “all my goods which others reject and despise.” The goods given are not consolation prizes for those who receive second-hand; they are the same glory transferred to those who form the second circle. Christological/Trinitarian

Revelation 3:11 — “I am coming quickly! Hold firmly that which you have, so that no one takes your crown.” The crown held by those who persevere — the goods of the Kingdom reserved for those who remain connected — corresponds to the DW soul receiving “all my goods which others reject and despise.” What others reject accumulates to those who remain in union; the rejection does not cancel the goods but transfers them to the second circle. Typological

Matthew 22:8–9 — “Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy. Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the wedding feast.’” The goods of the feast not received by the first-invited going instead to those gathered from the highways is the parabolic type of the DW soul receiving “all my goods which others reject and despise.” The refusal of the invited does not empty the feast; it transfers its abundance to the gathered. Typological

STAGE TWO — Comparison with Hogan’s Commentary

CORRESPONDENCES

No explicit scripture citations from Hogan in this segment; she works entirely through pastoral illustration and doctrinal paraphrase. Correspondences are therefore of content rather than citation.

  • The vine-and-branch structure (John 15) — Hogan invokes the principle through her “connectedness” language (“we’ve got to keep the connectedness with the divine will”) without citing it directly. Stage One identifies John 15:4–5 and 15:6 as the governing scriptural anchor for the grafting doctrine.
  • The perpetual availability of the Humanity’s goods — Hogan’s “eternal now” framing corresponds to Stage One’s Hebrews 7:25 and Ephesians 1:7–8 citations for the same claim.

DEVIATIONS

No scriptural citation by Hogan to deviate from; all of Stage One’s citations are independent.

  • Matthew 22:8–9 — the feast’s abundance going to those gathered from the highways as the parabolic type for the DW soul receiving what others reject

ADDITIONS — HERS

  • “Spiritual bank” framing — Hogan’s interpretive gloss: the Humanity’s goods are a fully-capitalized spiritual bank, completely available for use. The entry’s point is not possession but use: “All these goods are for use. They’re not to be put on a shelf with a nice flower in front of it.” The Bible left unopened on the Irish household shelf is her illustration of goods suspended through non-engagement.
  • “Eternal now” framing — Hogan’s paraphrase: the Humanity’s goods are “in the eternal now, completely available.” This corresponds to Stage One’s Hebrews 7:25 but gives it the temporal precision of the eternal-present register.
  • Forward bridge — wheel will recur — Hogan notes that “he’s going to love this idea of the wheel now in future messages.” The wheel of the Humanity introduced here will recur and develop in subsequent volumes. This corresponds to and extends the wheel-of-eternity forward bridge noted at August 12; the two wheel images (eternity / Humanity) are related but distinct.
  • Pastoral application — Hogan’s emphasis that the DW presumes and requires union with God (“Just notice that. And if you feel you’re not there, just say, Lord, excuse me, but you need to put me into a lift…”). The union is not assumed as already present but is the condition Luisa is describing as necessary.

VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS

Hogan does not designate this entry as VIP. No elevated designation language is used.

STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS

The entry’s biblical imagination is dominated by two traditions that converge at the grafting principle: the vine-and-branch / abiding complex (John 15; Romans 11:17–18; Galatians 2:20) and the cosmic-Christ / all-things-in-him complex (Colossians 1:17–18; Ephesians 1:10; Acts 17:28; Romans 11:36). The first tradition establishes the grafting mechanism (abiding as the condition of receiving the vine’s sap); the second establishes the cosmic scope of the wheel’s center (all things in him, from him, through him). Hogan provides no explicit scripture citations for this entry but contributes two significant interpretive frames — the spiritual bank and the eternal now — that accurately paraphrase the entry’s doctrinal logic. Stage One supplies the full scriptural architecture for both the grafting principle and the wheel structure. The John 15 vine-and-branch tradition is the single most load-bearing scriptural complex for the entry’s governing claim.

Cross-Entry Synthesis

Volume 14 — August 29, 1922 “One who lives in the Divine Will receives the grafting of the works of Jesus and of the goods which they contain.”

The Humanity’s Goods: Always in Act of Giving

“All that my Humanity did — prayers, words, works, steps and pains — is in act of giving itself to man.” The present tense and the participial “in act of” are the entry’s first doctrinal claim: the Humanity’s goods are not historical events that are now over and available only by memory or sacrament, but a perpetual offering in an eternal present. Hebrews 7:25 names this directly: “he always lives to make intercession” — the “always” covering all time and the “lives” naming it as an ongoing present act. Hogan paraphrases it as “the eternal now, completely available.” John 1:16 gives it the fullness-register: “grace upon grace” — each wave of giving following the last in continuous succession, the source not diminished by distribution.

The Humanity’s goods are thus available at every moment and for every specific activity: prayers, words, works, steps, pains — each category of human engagement has a corresponding treasure in the Humanity’s treasury. The disposition on the divine side is toward unrestricted lavishing (Ephesians 1:7–8: “the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us”). The constraint is entirely on the receiving side: “but who takes it?”

The Grafting Principle: Union as the Condition of Reception

The central doctrine of this entry is stated with precise logical form: “One who prays uniting herself with Me receives the grafting of my prayer… one who works, who suffers, united with Me, receives the grafting and the goods which are contained in my pains and works… If there is no union, the goods of one remain as though dead for the other.” The grafting is not generic — it is activity-specific. Each mode of creaturely engagement united with the corresponding mode of the Humanity’s engagement produces the grafting of the goods that mode contains.

John 15:4–5 is the governing scriptural image: “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine…” The vine-and-branch abiding is the structural form of what Jesus describes: the branch does not merely touch the vine but is organically continuous with it, receiving the vine’s sap through the point of connection. John 15:6 gives the inverse: the branch without abiding withers, and the vine’s goods remain as though dead to it — not because the vine withholds them but because the structural connection is absent.

Romans 11:17–18 supplies Paul’s explicit grafting vocabulary: the wild olive shoot “grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root.” The grafted-in branch participates in the root’s goods precisely because the grafting is an organic union, not a proximity or a spiritual intention. Stage One’s most theologically concentrated pair for this movement is Galatians 2:20 and Philippians 3:10: the “I have been crucified with Christ… Christ who lives in me” gives the experience of grafting into the Humanity’s pains its Pauline form, and “sharing his sufferings, becoming like him in his death” gives the activity-specific structure — participation indexed to the specific mode of Christ’s engagement, not a diffuse general union.

“If there is no union, the goods of one remain as though dead for the other” is the entry’s most concentrated negative statement. Neither party is changed by the non-grafting — the vine’s fullness remains unchanged, the soul continues to exist — but the goods are simply inaccessible because the structural condition of their transfer is absent. This gives the doctrine its pastoral urgency: the goods are entirely available; the only restraint is the soul’s own non-engagement.

The Wheel of the Humanity: Structure of Cosmic Mediation

The wheel image is the entry’s most architecturally complete statement of the Humanity’s mediatory function and its mechanism. Center = Humanity; rays = all the Humanity did and suffered; circumference = the whole human family rotating around the wheel. The rays are what the Humanity is to the family: the structural means by which the center’s goods reach the circumference. But the connection is not automatic — “if this circumference does not draw near to receive the connection with the rays, the rays remain suspended.”

Colossians 1:17–18 provides the christological ground for the Humanity as center: “in him all things hold together… and he is the head of the body.” The one in whom all things cohere structurally, the Head from whom all flow, is the wheel’s center. Acts 17:28 gives the cosmic scope: “in him we live and move and have our being” — the circumference already rotates within the one at the center. The tragedy is structural, not spatial: the family is already moving within the one who holds all, but most are not drawing near to receive the connection that would transfer the goods.

Romans 11:36 names the circular logic underlying the wheel’s design: “from him and through him and to him are all things.” The goods originate in the center (from him), are distributed through the rays (through him), and through the grafting they return to the Father as the human family’s restored creaturely offering (to him). The wheel is not merely an image of distribution but of the cosmic circular return — the anakephalaiōsis of Ephesians 1:10 — that the entire Incarnate economy is designed to accomplish.

Hogan notes that the wheel image will recur in future messages; the Humanity’s wheel developing as a governing concept in higher volumes, related to but distinct from the wheel of eternity introduced at August 12.

The DW Soul as the Second Circle

“This is why with great eagerness I go in search for souls who want to live in my Will: to be able to fix in them the rays of my wheel.” The DW soul is not simply another member of the circumference — she is constituted as a second circle that receives all the rays others reject and despise. The “great eagerness” names the divine urgency behind the search: the goods are suspended, the wheel’s rays are extended but not received, and the DW soul’s unique reception is the mechanism by which the suspended goods are distributed.

Colossians 1:24 provides the operative Pauline anchor: “filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions for the sake of his body.” The soul who receives the grafting of the Humanity’s pains becomes the distributive agent through whom the suspended goods reach the whole body. Matthew 22:8–9 gives the parabolic type with structural precision: the feast’s abundance, refused by those first invited, goes to those gathered from the highways. The DW soul as the second circle receives precisely “all my goods which others reject and despise” — the goods refused by those who were offered them first accumulate to those who receive them with eagerness. John 17:22–23 confirms the character of what is received: the same glory transferred, not a lesser substitute.

The AJD-1 dimension is significant here: the activity-specific grafting means that the DW soul who prays grafted with the Humanity’s prayer becomes another Jesus in that specific mode; the soul who teaches grafted with His teaching becomes another Jesus in that mode; the soul who suffers grafted with His pains becomes another Jesus in that mode. The second circle is not merely a recipient of goods but their active mediator — through the grafting, the Humanity’s suspended goods become distributed through the second circle to the whole.

Synthesis

Dominant biblical imagination: Two traditions in structural convergence: the vine-and-branch / grafting complex (John 15:4–6; Romans 11:17–18; Galatians 2:20) and the cosmic-Christ / all-things-in-him complex (Colossians 1:17–18; Ephesians 1:10; Acts 17:28; Romans 11:36). The vine tradition establishes the grafting mechanism; the cosmic-Christ tradition establishes the wheel’s center. Together they give the entry’s teaching its full range: the soul must abide (vine tradition: organic union as the condition of reception) within the one in whom all things hold together (cosmic-Christ tradition: the center whose rays reach the whole circumference).

Most load-bearing scriptural traditions: John 15:4–5 for the governing grafting image. Romans 11:17–18 for Paul’s explicit grafting vocabulary and the nourishing-root participation. Colossians 1:17–18 / Acts 17:28 for the Humanity as the cosmic center of the wheel. Colossians 1:24 for the DW soul as the distributive agent of the suspended goods.

Three findings of highest theological significance: First, the grafting principle is the most precise AJD-1 mechanism yet stated: activity-specific grafting means the soul’s prayer grafted with the Humanity’s prayer becomes the Humanity’s prayer active through the soul; the soul’s teaching grafted with His words distributes the Humanity’s teaching through a new creaturely instrument. The “as-many-of-Myself” form from July 24 is now given its operative mechanism. Second, the wheel image introduces the most architecturally complete ECA-1 structure: the center (Humanity), the rays (all acts and sufferings), the circumference (the human family), and the second circle (the DW soul who receives all the suspended rays) constitute a complete account of how the Humanity’s goods are distributed cosmically — with the DW soul as the node connecting the suspended rays to the whole. Third, “the goods of one remain as though dead for the other” without union is the entry’s most stark statement of the cost of non-grafting — not divine withholding but structural inaccessibility — which gives the urgency of the divine search (“with great eagerness I go in search”) its precise theological ground: the suspended goods represent a divine investment whose return is forestalled by the absence of the structural connection.

14-1922-08-29

AJD-1 — activity-specific grafting / second-circle mechanism form: The grafting principle introduces the most precise AJD-1 mechanism yet stated: “one who prays uniting herself with Me receives the grafting of my prayer… one who speaks, who teaches, united with Me, receives the grafting and the fruits of my words.” Activity-specific grafting means the soul’s prayer grafted with the Humanity’s prayer becomes the Humanity’s prayer active through a creaturely instrument; the soul’s teaching grafted with His words distributes the Humanity’s teaching through the second circle. This gives the July 24 “as-many-of-Myself” form its operative mechanism. Romans 11:17–18 and Galatians 2:20 are the governing anchors.

ECA-1 — wheel-of-the-Humanity / second-circle / suspended-goods-distributed form: The wheel image (center = Humanity; rays = all the Humanity did and suffered; circumference = human family; second circle = DW soul receiving all suspended rays) is the most architecturally complete ECA-1 structure yet: a full account of how the Humanity’s goods are cosmically distributed, with the DW soul as the node through which suspended goods reach the whole. Colossians 1:17–18 and Acts 17:28 are the governing cosmic anchors; Colossians 1:24 anchors the DW soul’s distributive function. Note: Hogan flags the wheel of the Humanity will recur in future messages — related to but distinct from the wheel of eternity (August 12).
