11-1916-04-15 Biblical Resonance Analysis
Volume 11 — April 15, 1916 “Jesus is the Word which multiplies in every act of all creatures, together with the one who lives in His Volition.”
STAGE ONE — INDEPENDENT BIBLICAL IDENTIFICATION
A cosmological entry of exceptional scope. Jesus identifies himself as the Word who multiplies into as many voices as there are acts in all creatures — a speaking universe in which every step, thought, glance, and desire has its corresponding divine Voice seeking the return of love. The DW soul becomes one voice with this multiplying Word, her every act co-speaking with him to the acts of all creatures. Three movements: the mutual-indwelling swimming in immensity; the Word’s multiplication into voices for every creaturely act; and the DW soul as co-Voice and recompense for the whole work of Creation.
Movement One: Swimming in the Immensity — Mutual Indwelling
“I found myself completely in Jesus, as if I were swimming in the immensity of my Highest Good. Then I looked inside myself and I saw Jesus in me.”
John 14:20 — “In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.” The mutual-indwelling formula in its most compact Johannine form — Luisa in Jesus and Jesus in Luisa simultaneously — is the doctrinal ground for the entry’s opening: swimming in his immensity (the soul in Jesus) while seeing him within herself (Jesus in the soul). The two moves are the two halves of the one formula. Christological/Trinitarian
John 17:21–23 — “that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me. The glory which you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one, even as we are one, I in them, and you in me, that they may be perfected into one, that the world may know that you sent me and loved them, even as you loved me.” The Trinitarian oneness into which the soul is drawn — the immensity she swims in is the Trinitarian depth of the divine Being — is the John 17 petition in its experiential fulfillment. Christological/Trinitarian
Acts 17:28 — “‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’” The swimming-in-immensity experience is Acts 17:28 made contemplatively available: the soul who becomes aware that she already lives, moves, and exists within the divine immensity finds the theological claim of Paul suddenly experienced rather than merely believed. Direct doctrinal parallel
Movement Two: I Am the Word — Multiplying into Voices for Every Act of Every Creature
“I am the Word, and my Love toward the creature is so great that I multiply Myself into as many voices for as many acts, thoughts, affections, desires, etc. as each creature does, in order to receive from them the return of those acts done for love of Me.”
John 1:1–14 — “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him. Without him, nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it. There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came as a witness, that he might testify about the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but was sent that he might testify about the light. The true light that enlightens everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, and the world didn’t recognize him. He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him. But as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become God’s children, to those who believe in his name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. The Word became flesh and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the only born Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.” Jesus’s self-identification as “the Word” is the Johannine Prologue’s deepest name; the multiplication of the Word into as many voices as there are creaturely acts is the Incarnation’s consequence extended across all space and time: the Word who became flesh in one place now speaks to every act of every creature in every place. Christological/Trinitarian
Psalm 33:6 — “By the LORD’s word, the heavens were made: all their army by the breath of his mouth.” The creative Word that called all things into being now addresses each created thing at the level of its individual acts — the same generative Word that produced the creature now seeks from it the return of love in each act. Direct doctrinal parallel
Psalm 139:1–4 — “David. LORD, you have searched me, and you know me. You know my sitting down and my rising up. You perceive my thoughts from afar. … is not a word on my tongue, but behold, LORD, you know it altogether.” The divine knowledge encompassing every act — sitting, rising, thinking, speaking — is the structural precondition for the multiplication of the Voice: only the omniscient Word can address each act individually, because only he knows each one as it occurs. Direct doctrinal parallel
Isaiah 55:10–11 — “For as the rain comes down and the snow from the sky, and doesn’t return there, but waters the earth, and makes it grow and bud, and gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so is my word that goes out of my mouth: it will not return to me void, but it will accomplish that which I please, and it will prosper in the thing I sent it to do.” The Word sent out seeking a return — “I give love and I want love” — is Isaiah 55:11 in its personal form: the Word going out to each creaturely act as rain seeking to water, purposing to receive the return of love, and not returning empty where it is received. Direct doctrinal parallel
Colossians 1:17 — “He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.” The Word in whom all things cohere speaks to each thing at the level of its individual existence; the feet of Jesus speaking to the feet of creatures is this structural coherence made audible at each step: the creature’s every movement takes place within and is addressed by the one who holds it together. Christological/Trinitarian
Hosea 11:1–4 — “When Israel was a child, then I loved him, … I taught Ephraim to walk. I took them by their arms, but they didn’t know that I healed them.” The divine Love attending to the very steps of the creature — “I taught Ephraim to walk” — is the OT form of the feet-of-Jesus-speaking-to-the-feet-of-creatures. God has always addressed each step; the creatures never knew that the voice accompanying each step was Love seeking love. Direct doctrinal parallel
Jeremiah 2:5 — “The LORD says, “What unrighteousness have your fathers found in me, that they have gone far from me, and have walked after worthless vanity, and have become worthless?” The divine complaint at ingratitude — the harmonies broken by offenses, love repaid with offenses — is Jeremiah’s form of Jesus’s afflicted disclosure. The Voice that went out to every act and received offense instead is the Jeremiah 2 dynamic operating at cosmological scale. Direct doctrinal parallel
Movement Three: The DW Soul as Co-Voice — Recompense for the Work of Creation
“The soul who lives united with Me and from my Volition, swimming in my immensity, becomes one voice together with Me… only from these souls do I find my reward, beginning with the work of Creation.”
Romans 8:19 — “For the creation waits with eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed.” The DW soul as the voice-of-the-Word in every creature is the “revealing of the sons of God” that all creation has awaited: the one through whom the Word finally speaks to creation without being repaid with offense. Direct doctrinal parallel
Wisdom 7:27 — “Although she is one, she has power to do all things. Remaining in herself, she renews all things. From generation to generation passing into holy souls, she makes friends of God and prophets.” Divine Wisdom entering holy souls to constitute them as the divine Voice in the world — the DW soul as co-Voice is the Wisdom tradition’s “friend of God and prophet” in its highest application: not merely speaking about God but speaking as his Voice to every creature. Direct doctrinal parallel
Ephesians 1:10 — “to an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in him.” The anakephalaiōsis — the recapitulation of all things in Christ — proceeds through the DW soul’s voice-unity with the Word: she speaks to every act of every creature on his behalf, co-executing the plan by which all things are gathered back to their origin. Christological/Trinitarian
1 Corinthians 2:16 — “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he should instruct him?” But we have Christ’s mind.” The soul’s thoughts as “voices to the minds” of other creatures is the 1 Corinthians 2:16 participation: the mind of Christ operating through the soul’s thinking, her every thought a transmission of the divine mind to the creaturely intellectual life around her. Direct doctrinal parallel
2 Corinthians 5:20 — “We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.” The soul whose steps pursue the sinner and whose thoughts speak to minds is the 2 Corinthians 5:20 ambassadorship in its most operationally comprehensive form: not an explicit appeal but the appeal made through every act — walking, thinking, looking — all as God’s communication to creatures. Direct doctrinal parallel
Ephesians 4:10 — “He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.” The Word filling all things — the ascended Christ present in every act of every creature through the voice that addresses each one — finds his instrument for that filling in the DW soul who is co-Voice: she carries the filling-all-things Word to every place her acts reach. Christological/Trinitarian
1 John 4:8 — “He who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, for God is love.” The entry’s central pathos — love offered in every act, repaid with offense — is the 1 John 4:8 reality inverted: God who is love offers himself in each Voice; when the creature offends instead of loving, it denies the most fundamental fact about the one addressing it. Direct doctrinal parallel
STAGE TWO — COMPARISON WITH HOGAN’S COMMENTARY
CORRESPONDENCES
John 1:1–14 identified by both sources for Jesus’s “I am the Word” self-identification. The entire doctrine of multiplication-into-voices rests on the Johannine Prologue as its Christological ground.
Acts 17:28 identified by both sources for the Word speaking to every act within the divine immensity in which all creatures live.
Romans 8:19 identified by both sources for the DW souls as the “revealing of the sons of God” that creation awaits — the recompense for the work of Creation.
DEVIATIONS
Hogan cites “John 14:21” for the mutual-indwelling formula “you and me, and I and you.” John 14:21 reads: “Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.” The love-and-manifestation content is present but the explicit mutual-indwelling formula (“you in me, I in you”) is at John 14:20, not 14:21. Citation correction: Hogan’s “John 14:21” for the mutual-indwelling formula corrected to John 14:20.
Hogan cites “John 4:7” for “God is love.” John 4:7 is the Samaritan woman (“Give me a drink”). Recurring known error — not incremented. Correct references: 1 John 4:8 (“God is love”) and 1 John 4:16 (“God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God”). This error has appeared throughout the corpus without being incremented.
ADDITIONS — MINE
- John 14:20 — “you in me, and I in you” mutual-indwelling formula (replaces Hogan’s erroneous 14:21)
- John 17:21–23 — Trinitarian oneness extended to the soul (the immensity she swims in)
- Psalm 33:6 — Word creating by command / creative Word addressing created things
- Psalm 139:1–4 — God knowing every act, thought, word (precondition for voice-to-each-act)
- Isaiah 55:10–11 — Word sent out not returning empty / seeking a return (Word-as-Voice seeking love)
- Colossians 1:17 — all things hold together in him (coherence at the micro level of each act)
- Hosea 11:1–4 — taught Ephraim to walk / attending to each step (OT form of feet-speaking-to-feet)
- Jeremiah 2:5 — “What wrong did I do?” / harmonies broken by ingratitude
- Wisdom 7:27 — Wisdom passing into holy souls / making them friends of God and prophets
- Ephesians 1:10 — recapitulation of all things in Christ (DW soul as co-executor)
- 1 Corinthians 2:16 — we have the mind of Christ (soul’s thoughts as voices to minds)
- 2 Corinthians 5:20 — ambassadors for Christ / God making his appeal through us
- Ephesians 4:10 — Christ filling all things through the ascended Word
- 1 John 4:8 — God is love / love refused is denial of God’s nature
ADDITIONS — HERS
- Deuteronomy 6:4–10 — the Shema as the required response to the Word that goes out to every act seeking love; the total love of heart, soul, and strength as the creature’s proper return
- Speaking-universe cosmology: Hogan develops the implication that galaxies and the non-human creation cannot speak for themselves; the DW soul through the intercessory rounds speaks on their behalf and glorifies God in the name of all creation. The soul is the universe’s voice as well as the Word’s voice. This is a forward bridge to the “immense sea” imagery anticipated in higher volumes.
- Hours of the Passion connection: Hogan explicitly connects the entry’s feet-hands-heart-mouth vocabulary to the Hours of the Passion’s adorations of each part of Christ’s body — the intercessory logic of the Hours is that by addressing each wounded part the soul intercedes for every corresponding dimension of the human family.
VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS
None formally designated by Hogan.
STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS
The combined findings establish this entry as the most cosmologically expansive single disclosure in the corpus regarding the Word’s relationship to creaturely existence. The Johannine Prologue (John 1:1–14) and the divine-omniscience tradition (Psalm 139, Isaiah 55) supply the Christological and OT ground; Acts 17:28 and Colossians 1:17 supply the structural coherence; Romans 8:19 and Ephesians 1:10 supply the eschatological-apostolic frame. The entry’s most significant doctrinal contribution is the disclosure that the DW soul’s co-Voice unity with the Word makes her the recompense for the whole work of Creation — the instrument through whom the Word’s outgoing love finally finds its return.
Cross-Entry Synthesis
Volume 11 — April 15, 1916 “Jesus is the Word which multiplies in every act of all creatures, together with the one who lives in His Volition.”
Swimming in Immensity: The Experiential Form of Acts 17:28
The entry opens with Luisa’s privation reversed in a moment of unusual depth — not merely consolation but total immersion: swimming in the immensity of the divine Being, then finding Jesus within herself, hearing his entire Being speak. John 14:20’s mutual-indwelling formula governs both directions: the soul in Jesus (swimming in immensity) and Jesus in the soul (seen within). John 17:21–23 establishes the theological depth of the immensity she swims in — the Trinitarian depth that Jesus petitioned might envelop the soul. Acts 17:28 names the same reality from the Pauline angle: what Luisa experiences in the entry — swimming in the immensity — is Paul’s “in him we live and move and have our being” made contemplatively accessible rather than merely intellectually assented to.
The Word Multiplying into Voices: Cosmological Scope of the Incarnation
The entry’s doctrinal center — “I am the Word, and my Love toward the creature is so great that I multiply Myself into as many voices for as many acts, thoughts, affections, desires, etc. as each creature does” — is among the most cosmologically comprehensive doctrinal statements in the corpus. The Johannine Prologue (John 1:1–14) is the governing Christological ground: the Word who became flesh in one act now multiplies that incarnational presence into every act of every creature across all time. The Incarnation is not a single bounded historical event but the mode of the Word’s permanent address to creaturely existence — each act of each creature hearing a corresponding divine Voice seeking the return of love.
Psalm 33:6 establishes the creative Word’s prior claim on all things: the Word that made them now speaks to them, seeking what it made them to give. Psalm 139’s omniscient knowledge of every act — every sitting, rising, thought, and word — is the structural precondition: the Voice can address each act because it knows each act, the omniscience making the multiplication possible. Isaiah 55:10–11 is the closest single OT statement of the Word’s operation in the entry: the word that goes out not returning empty, purposing to accomplish what it was sent to do, precisely because it was sent in love and seeks love’s return. Colossians 1:17’s “all things hold together in him” discloses the micro-structural ground: each creature’s every movement is already occurring within the Word; the Voice speaks to each step because each step happens inside the one who is its coherence.
The most humanly affecting OT parallel is Hosea 11:1–4: “I taught Ephraim to walk; I took them up by their arms, but they did not know that I healed them.” The divine Voice attending to the very first steps of the creature, the hands that steadied each stumble, the healing the child never recognized — this is precisely the feet-of-Jesus-speaking-to-the-feet-of-creatures in its historical and parental form. The creature has never walked a step without the Word accompanying it; the entry makes this structural reality audible.
The pathos of the entry — harmonies broken by ingratitude, love repaid with offense — is Jeremiah 2:5’s divine question (“What wrong did I do?”) at cosmological scale: the Voice that has addressed every act of every creature across all history, and received offense from most of them. The ECA-1 arc established that Christ’s earthly acts remain in perpetual continuous operation; this entry discloses the wider structure within which that operates — the Word’s continuous address to every creaturely act is itself the eternal-operative-act applied to the whole of creation rather than to Christ’s specific historical works.
The DW Soul as Co-Voice: Recompense for the Work of Creation
The second doctrinal contribution — the DW soul becoming “one voice together with Me” — advances the AJD-1 arc into the vocational-apostolic register. Prior AJD-1 formulations identify the soul as organ-of-the-Will, co-redemptrix, new-Humanity, “My Life,” other-Christ: all these names address what the soul is in herself through union. The co-Voice identity addresses what she does in that union: she speaks. Her steps speak to sinners; her thoughts speak to minds; her glances speak to glances. Every act of the DW soul is the Word’s act applied to the corresponding creaturely act — she is the Word’s apostolic multiplication into the specific region of creaturely existence her own life occupies.
Romans 8:19 frames the eschatological weight of this: all creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of these souls, because they alone provide the Word’s multiplication what most creatures deny — the return of love. Wisdom 7:27 supplies the sapientral form: divine Wisdom entering holy souls to make them “friends of God and prophets.” The DW soul is the prophet through whom the Word speaks not in formal utterances but through the entire biological and intentional life of every moment. 2 Corinthians 5:20’s ambassadorship and Ephesians 4:10’s Christ-filling-all-things converge: the ascended Word fills all things through the DW souls who carry his Voice into every corner of creaturely existence.
Hogan’s speaking-universe extension supplies the most expansive implication: the non-human creation — galaxies, creatures without speech — cannot speak for themselves; they cannot return the love the Word sends to them; they need a voice. The DW soul, through the intercessory rounds Luisa performs, speaks on behalf of the entire cosmos to the Word who addressed it. She is not only the Word’s ambassador to creatures but the creation’s voice to God — the point at which the universe’s worship and response, which it cannot articulate, becomes articulate through a human will fused with the divine. Ephesians 1:10’s anakephalaiōsis — the recapitulation of all things in Christ — finds its instrument here: the DW soul as the co-Voice through whom the multiplication of the Word into all things becomes the gathering of all things back to their source.
Synthesis
The entry’s dominant biblical imagination is the Johannine Logos tradition (John 1:1–14, 14:20, 17:21–23) grounded in the OT creative-Word tradition (Psalm 33:6, Isaiah 55:10–11, Colossians 1:17) and opening onto the Pauline-eschatological apostolic frame (Romans 8:19, 2 Corinthians 5:20, Ephesians 1:10 and 4:10). The three findings of most theological significance: first, the multiplication of the Word into voices for every creaturely act as ECA-1’s most comprehensive cosmological statement — the eternal-operative-act applied not to specific historical works of Christ but to the divine address to every act of every creature across all time; second, the DW soul as co-Voice advancing the AJD-1 arc into its vocational-apostolic form — every biological and intentional act of her life transmitting the Word’s address to corresponding creaturely acts; third, the recompense-for-Creation disclosure — the DW soul being the only creature from whom the Word receives what all of creation owes and has largely refused, making her the concentrated answer to the entire pathos of the divine Love multiplied into voices and met with offense.
Observation Notes
See this note in volume context →
11-1916-04-15
ECA-1 — cosmological-Word register: “I am the Word, and my Love toward the creature is so great that I multiply Myself into as many voices for as many acts, thoughts, affections, desires, etc. as each creature does.” This is ECA-1’s most cosmologically comprehensive formulation: the eternal-operative-act applied not to Christ’s specific historical works but to the divine Word’s continuous address to every act of every creature across all time. Every creaturely act has its corresponding divine Voice seeking the return of love. Governing anchors: John 1:1–14; Isaiah 55:10–11; Psalm 139:1–4; Colossians 1:17.
AJD-1 — co-Voice vocational register: “The soul who lives united with Me and from my Volition… becomes one voice together with Me.” The AJD-1 arc advances into its vocational-apostolic form: the soul’s identification with Christ disclosed not only in what she is (new-Humanity, My Life, other-Christ) but in what she does — her every act transmitting the Word’s address to corresponding creaturely acts, her steps pursuing sinners, her thoughts speaking to minds. Governing anchors: 2 Corinthians 5:20; Ephesians 4:10; Romans 8:19.
Recurring known error — John 4:7: Hogan cites “John 4:7” for “God is love.” Correct references: 1 John 4:8 and 4:16. Recurring uncounted error; not incremented.
Forward bridge — speaking-universe / creation’s voice: Hogan’s development of the DW soul as the creation’s voice — galaxies and non-speaking creatures finding their articulation through the soul’s intercessory rounds — points toward the cosmological elaborations Hogan has anticipated above Volume 20. Consistent with the cosmological-interior series forward bridge already active.
