11-1916-08-06 Biblical Resonance Analysis

Volume 11 — August 6, 1916 “Need of Jesus for souls who live in the Divine Will to multiply.”

STAGE ONE — INDEPENDENT BIBLICAL IDENTIFICATION

”Places of My Quarters”: The DW Soul as Divine Dwelling

“My love feels an irresistible need for souls who live in my Will to multiply, because they are the places of my quarters.”

John 14:23 — “Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” The “make our home” (monē — dwelling place) is the precise scriptural parallel to “quarters.” The DW soul who keeps the divine word is the one in whom the Father and Son establish permanent residence — the home Jesus’s love searches for and finds. Direct doctrinal parallel

1 Corinthians 3:16 — “Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you?” The DW soul as temple — the living structure in which God dwells and from which he operates — is Paul’s formulation of what the entry names “quarters.” Not a metaphor of spiritual intimacy only but a structural claim about the soul as the architectural site of the divine indwelling. Direct doctrinal parallel

2 Corinthians 6:16 — “What agreement does a temple of God have with idols? For you are a temple of the living God. Even as God said, “I will dwell in them and walk in them. I will be their God and they will be my people.” The OT covenant promise — “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them” — finds its NT realization in the soul-as-temple. God’s “walking among them” through the DW souls is the mechanism by which the surrounding towns receive the benefit. Direct doctrinal parallel

Revelation 3:20 — “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with me.” The divine searching for quarters is precisely the Laodicean image: Jesus standing at the door, seeking entry, dwelling within when found. The irresistible need of love is the same longing behind the knocking. Affective/meditative

Ephesians 3:17 — “that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love,” The indwelling Christ in hearts rooted and grounded in love is the Pauline statement of the quarters-doctrine: the soul grounded in the DW is the stable domicile the divine love inhabits without resistance. Direct doctrinal parallel

Sins Prevent the Outpouring; The DW Soul as Unobstructed Channel

“My love wants to do good to all, but sins prevent Me from pouring my benefits upon them, therefore I keep searching for these quarters; in them I am not prevented from pouring my graces.”

Isaiah 59:1–2 — “Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it can’t save; nor his ear dull, that it can’t hear. But your iniquities have separated you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.” The divine power unlimited and the divine desire universal — what prevents the outpouring is entirely on the creaturely side. The DW soul is the one in whom the separation is closed; through her the unlimited power can flow freely. Direct doctrinal parallel

John 15:4–5 — “Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.” The DW soul as the branch in unbroken abiding — the condition in which the divine life flows without obstruction through to fruit. The contrast with the obstructed soul is explicit: sin is the broken abiding that stops the flow. Direct doctrinal parallel

Romans 5:5 — “and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” The love poured into the DW soul is the precise content of what overflows through her to others: the Spirit-poured love in the quarters is what “pours itself out into benefits for the good of humanity.” Direct doctrinal parallel

Grace Flowing to Surrounding Towns and Peoples

“Through them, the towns and the people that surround them take part in them. Therefore, the more quarters I have on earth, the greater vent can I give to my love, and the more it pours itself out into benefits for the good of humanity.”

Matthew 5:14–16 — “You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden. … let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” The geographic radiance of the DW soul is precisely the light-of-the-world image: the soul set in a location cannot but illuminate the surrounding area, and the towns nearby “take part in” what shines from the soul within them. Direct doctrinal parallel

Matthew 13:33 — “He spoke another parable to them. “The Kingdom of Heaven is like yeast which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal, until it was all leavened.” The DW soul as the active principle working from within the surrounding community — the small quantity of leaven whose action permeates the whole. The entry’s “the more quarters I have, the more love can pour” follows the parable’s logic: more leaven accelerates the leavening of the whole mass. Typological

Genesis 18:26–32 (paraphrase) — The LORD agreeing to spare the city for the sake of fifty, forty-five, forty… righteous within it. The righteous presence in a geographic location benefits the entire area; the proportion of righteous determines the measure of mercy extended. The entry’s “the more quarters, the greater the benefit” is the positive formulation of what the Sodom passage discloses negatively. Typological

2 Corinthians 2:14 — “Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and reveals through us the sweet aroma of his knowledge in every place.” The spreading of divine fragrance through the DW soul to every location she inhabits is the Pauline image of the same geographic-distribution dynamic. The triumphal procession passing through all territories, leaving the fragrance of Christ behind. Typological

Ezekiel 47:8–12 (paraphrase) — The river flowing from the temple outward, “everything will live where the river goes… wherever the river goes, every living creature that swarms will live… leaves will not wither nor their fruit fail… their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for healing.” The DW soul as the temple from which divine life flows in an ever-widening radius, healing and fructifying the surrounding land. Typological

Isaiah 58:10–11 — “and if you pour out your soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light will rise in darkness, and your obscurity will be as the noonday; and the LORD will guide you continually, satisfy your soul in dry places, and make your bones strong. You will be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters don’t fail.” The soul who pours herself out becomes an inexhaustible spring — the overflowing quarters whose waters never run dry, providing for the surrounding dry land. Typological

STAGE TWO — COMPARISON WITH HOGAN’S COMMENTARY

CORRESPONDENCES

Both streams identify 1 Corinthians 3:16 (temple of God) as the “quarters” anchor. Both recognize the geographic-radiance principle: the DW soul’s presence benefits surrounding towns and peoples. Both identify 2 Corinthians 2:14 for the spreading of divine grace through the DW soul’s location and movement. The mission-application — multiplying DW souls to expand the coverage — is recognized by both as the entry’s practical conclusion.

DEVIATIONS

Hogan reads the entry primarily through the lens of apostolic mission: “all of us have to reach out to try and help others to come into the divine will.” Stage One reads the geographic benefit as passive as well as active: the DW soul’s mere presence as divine headquarters radiates grace to the surrounding area regardless of her active outreach (Ezekiel 47’s river flows from the temple without the temple doing anything; Matthew 5:14’s city on a hill illuminates passively). The two emphases are complementary: Hogan stresses the active apostolic responsibility; Stage One stresses the passive structural radiation of grace through residence.

ADDITIONS — MINE

  • John 14:23 — “we will come to him and make our home with him” as the most direct scriptural parallel to “quarters”
  • 2 Corinthians 6:16 — “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them” as the OT covenant promise realized in DW souls
  • Ephesians 3:17 — Christ dwelling in hearts as the Pauline quarters-doctrine
  • Revelation 3:20 — Jesus knocking, seeking entry and dwelling, as the affective register of the divine search for quarters
  • Isaiah 59:1–2 — LORD’s hand not shortened, sin as the structural barrier, as the ground of “sins prevent Me”
  • John 15:4–5 — unbroken abiding as the condition of unobstructed flow
  • Matthew 13:33 — leaven parable as the multiplication-of-DW-souls dynamic
  • Genesis 18:26–32 — righteous presence in the city determining the measure of mercy as the OT ground
  • Ezekiel 47:8–12 — temple-river flowing outward, healing everything, as the geographic-distribution image
  • Isaiah 58:10–11 — soul who pours out becoming an inexhaustible spring for surrounding land

ADDITIONS — HERS

Hogan supplies the geographic-personal application: she names “Sallbridge and all its surrounds” as the local community benefiting from one DW soul’s presence, making the abstract doctrine concrete. She identifies 2 Corinthians 2:14’s “partners in his triumph” as the DW soul’s apostolic identity, and adds the eschatological frame: the DW souls are “putting the red carpet together for his return” — a forward bridge connecting the multiplication-of-quarters doctrine to the Second Coming. Hogan’s 1 Corinthians 3:16 citation matches Stage One’s identification.

VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS

No formal VIP designation. Hogan uses “NB” (nota bene) and “isn’t it wonderful?” — elevated attention without reaching VIP threshold.

STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS

The entry is brief and its doctrine focused: the DW soul as divine quarters, the unobstructed channel of grace, and the local source-point of geographic benefit. The two streams converge on 1 Corinthians 3:16, 2 Corinthians 2:14, and the geographic-radiance principle. Stage One supplies the passive-structural architecture (Ezekiel 47; Matthew 5:14; Matthew 13:33); Hogan supplies the active-apostolic application and the eschatological frame.

Cross-Entry Synthesis

Volume 11 — August 6, 1916 “Need of Jesus for souls who live in the Divine Will to multiply.”

Cross-Entry Synthesis

A brief entry carrying concentrated doctrinal content. The quarters metaphor organizes three interlocking claims: the DW soul as the place where Jesus dwells without obstruction; the surrounding geography benefiting from that residential presence; and the multiplication of DW souls as the proportional expansion of divine-grace coverage across humanity.

The Quarters Doctrine

John 14:23 — “we will come to him and make our home with him” — is the primary anchor: the monē (dwelling-place) in the DW soul is the same word Jesus uses for the “many rooms” of the Father’s house (John 14:2). The DW soul is the Father’s house made present on earth. 1 Corinthians 3:16 (temple of God), 2 Corinthians 6:16 (I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them), and Ephesians 3:17 (Christ dwelling in hearts through faith) together constitute the Pauline parallel to the Johannine indwelling: the soul-as-temple is the NT realization of the OT covenant promise, the structural architecture on which the entry’s entire claim rests.

The “irresistible need of love” for quarters resonates with Revelation 3:20’s knocking: Jesus stands at the door, longing to enter, finding in the DW soul the one who opens immediately. The divine love does not need quarters for its own satisfaction but for its operative capacity: in the quarters it can pour what elsewhere sin blocks.

The Obstruction Problem

Isaiah 59:1–2 (sin as separation, not divine limitation) and John 15:4–5 (broken abiding stopping the fruit-flow) define the structural problem the DW soul solves. The divine love is unlimited and universally directed; sin is the barrier on the creaturely side. The DW soul is the exception: in her the sin-barrier is absent, making her the unobstructed channel through which the unlimited love can flow. This is consistent with the August 3 defense-broken mechanics and the June 4 CEA-1 self-causal disclosure: the obstruction is always creaturely, never divine. The DW soul is distinguished not by any special positive quality Jesus adds but by the absence of the creaturely obstacle that everywhere else prevents the outpouring.

VSC-1 Register 37: Geographic-Radius-of-Benefit

“Through them, the towns and the people that surround them take part in them.” This constitutes VSC-1 Register 37: the geographic-radius-of-benefit register. The formal distinction from prior registers is the level of agency: Registers 1–36 describe the soul’s active intercessory acts and their causal effects. Register 37 describes the passive structural effect of residential presence: grace radiates outward to surrounding geographies simply because the divine headquarters is located there. Matthew 5:14 (city on a hill illuminating passively), Ezekiel 47:8–12 (the river flowing from the temple, everything living where it goes), and Genesis 18:26–32 (the righteous within the city determining its mercy) together establish the OT-NT convergence. The soul’s presence is the source-point; the surrounding population is the radius.

The multiplication corollary follows directly: more DW souls = wider geographic coverage = greater vent for love. Matthew 13:33 (leaven working through the whole mass) provides the mechanism; Hogan’s eschatological annotation — the DW soul multiplication as preparation for the Lord’s return — provides the terminus. VSC-1 Register 37 thus has both a present dimension (current geographic benefit) and an eschatological dimension (the saturation of humanity with DW souls as the condition preceding the Second Coming).

Summary

The entry’s governing traditions: Johannine indwelling theology (John 14:23; 15:4–5) and Pauline temple theology (1 Corinthians 3:16; 2 Corinthians 6:16) for the quarters-doctrine; Isaiah 59:1–2 for the obstruction mechanics; Matthew 5:14 / Ezekiel 47 / Genesis 18 for the geographic-radius register. VSC-1 Register 37 (geographic-radius-of-benefit) opens the passive-structural dimension of co-redemptive causality: the DW soul as divine headquarters from which grace flows outward without active effort, proportional to her fidelity and multiplied by the number of such souls on earth.
