04-1901-09-09 Biblical Resonance Analysis

Volume 4 — September 9, 1901 “Effectiveness of the intentions.”

STAGE ONE — Independent Biblical Identification

The September 9 entry has two movements: (1) the crown-of-thorns exchange and the humility-reparation doctrine — suffering the divine thorns relieves the divine; humbling oneself as unworthy repairs the sins of pride; (2) the universal-intention prayer and its visible effect — Luisa’s intention to give glory for all creatures and ask grace for all creatures is shown visually operating within Jesus who contains the whole world, and the entry closes with the divine’s astonishment at how much good could be done by repeating this intention. Processed as a single unit.

The Crown of Thorns Exchange: Relief and Reparation

“when you suffer my own thorns, You relieve Me, and in suffering them yourself, I feel completely free of those pains. When you humble yourself and believe yourself unworthy of suffering them, you repair for the sins of pride which are committed in the world.”

The double structure is precise: the positive act (suffering the thorns) relieves the divine completely of those pains; the accompanying interior disposition (humbling oneself as unworthy of suffering them) repairs for the specific category of sin that caused the thorns — pride. The reparation’s precision is remarkable: not generic reparation but the specific repair that matches the specific wound (pride → crown of thorns → humility-reparation).

Colossians 1:24 — “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and fill up on my part that which is lacking of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the assembly,” Hogan cites “Galatians 6:17 where Paul says I make up for what is wanting in the body of Christ” — but this is actually the Colossians passage (antanaplērō ta hysterēmata tōn thlipseōn tou Christou — filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions). Galatians 6:17 reads “I bear on my body the marks of Jesus” (ta stigmata tou Iēsou) — a related but distinct statement. Both passages apply; Hogan’s content is Colossians 1:24. See citation note in Stage Two. Direct doctrinal parallel

Isaiah 53:5 — “But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed.” The crown-of-thorns within the Passion’s wound-economy — Luisa taking the thorns is the co-redemptive participation in the mussar šĕlōmēnû (the chastisement that brings our peace). Direct doctrinal parallel

Matthew 27:29 — “They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” The crown of thorns as the specific instrument of mockery at the site of pride — the crown placed on the head of the One who is King is the supreme embodiment of the pride-insult: the creature’s pride crowning and mocking the Creator. Luisa’s taking the crown repairs this specific site. Direct doctrinal parallel

Proverbs 8:13 — “The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.” Gā’ôn wĕgā’ăwāh wĕderek rā’ — pride and arrogance are what the LORD hates — the crown-of-thorns reparation specifically addresses the sin that caused the most hateful offense to the divine wisdom. Direct doctrinal parallel

The Universal-Intention Prayer

“‘for as many drops as You shed, for as many thorns as You suffered, for as many wounds, so much glory do I intend to give You for as much glory as all creatures should give You if the sin of pride did not exist; and so many graces do I intend to ask of You for all creatures, so that this sin be destroyed.‘”

The prayer is the most formally structured single reparatory-intention in the corpus: each unit of the Passion (each drop, each thorn, each wound) becomes a unit of glory-intention and a unit of grace-petition. The two-fold structure: glory-giving (to fill what pride has withheld) and grace-petitioning (to destroy the pride). This is the September 4 universal-intention commission enacted in its most Passion-specific form.

Isaiah 2:11–12 — “The lofty looks of man will be brought low, the arrogance of men will be bowed down, and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. For there will be a day of the LORD of Armies for all that is proud and arrogant, and for all that is lifted up, and it shall be brought low—” Hogan cites Isaiah chapter 2. Šaḥ gĕbah hā’ādām — the pride of man brought low — is the eschatological form of what Luisa’s prayer petitions: “so that this sin be destroyed.” Direct doctrinal parallel

Romans 5:20 — “The law came in that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly,” The grace-abounding-over-sin logic — Luisa’s petitioning for “as many graces as there are wounds” is the September 9 form of the huperperisseusen hē charis (grace superabounded): the petition is for grace proportional to each Passion wound to flood over the pride-sin. Direct doctrinal parallel

The Vision: Jesus Containing the World as All Creatures Receive the Intention’s Effect

“I saw that Jesus contained the whole world within Himself, like a machine containing objects in itself. All creatures moved within Him, and Jesus moved toward them, and it seemed that Jesus would receive the glory of my intention and that creatures had returned to Him in order to receive the good impetrated by me for them.”

The vision shows the mechanism: Jesus contains all creatures (the April 5 all-generations-in-Jesus and the August 6 traffic-of-love at the operational level). The glory-intention flows to Jesus; Jesus then moves toward the creatures within Him, and they receive the grace that Luisa impetrated. The whole-world-within-Jesus is the visual demonstration of why the universal-intention works: there is no creature outside the range of the intention made within Jesus, because all creatures are within Jesus.

John 1:1–5 — “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him. Without him, nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness hasn’t overcome it.” Hogan cites John 1:1–5. The panta di’ autou egeneto — all things came to be through Him — is the doctrinal ground for “Jesus contained the whole world within Himself.” Direct doctrinal parallel

Colossians 1:16–17 — “For by him all things were created in the heavens and on the earth, visible things and invisible … and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.” Hogan cites Colossians 1. Ta panta en autō synestēken — in him all things hold together — is the structural basis of the vision: the world within Jesus is not a vision of spatial containment but ontological dependence. Direct doctrinal parallel

Ephesians 1:10 — “to an administration of the fullness of the times, to sum up all things in Christ, the things in the heavens and the things on the earth, in him.” Anakephalaiōsasthai ta panta en tō Christō — to sum up all things in Christ — the eschatological gathering of all creatures within Christ is the vision’s telos: Luisa’s prayer is made within the One in whom all will be summed up. Direct doctrinal parallel

Acts 17:28 — “‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’” En autō gar zōmen kai kinoumetha kai esmen — in him we live and move — “all creatures moved within Him” is this Acts principle made visually explicit in the vision. Direct doctrinal parallel

Matthew 19:26 — “Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” Para de Theō panta dynata — Hogan explicitly cites this for the universal-intention’s scope: “everything is possible with God.” Direct doctrinal parallel

STAGE TWO — Comparison with Hogan’s Commentary

CORRESPONDENCES

John 1:1–5 — Both identified. Hogan cites it for the all-things-made-through-Him basis of the world-within-Jesus vision.

Colossians 1 — Both identified. Hogan cites it; Stage One identifies Colossians 1:16–17 specifically.

Ephesians 1 — Both identified. Hogan cites it; Stage One identifies Ephesians 1:10 specifically.

Isaiah 2 — Both identified. Hogan cites Isaiah 2 for the pride-being-brought-low petition.

Matthew 19:26 — Both identified. Hogan cites it; Stage One for the same.

DEVIATIONS

Galatians 6:17 vs. Colossians 1:24 (Hogan): Hogan cites “Galatians 6:17 where Paul says I make up for what is wanting in the body of Christ.” Galatians 6:17 reads: “From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus” (ta stigmata tou Iēsou bastazō). This is a related statement (bearing the marks of Jesus in the body) but not the “filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions” formulation. That formulation is Colossians 1:24 (antanaplērō ta hysterēmata tōn thlipseōn tou Christou). Hogan has conflated two related passages about bodily participation in Christ’s suffering. See citation correction below.

ADDITIONS — MINE

  • Isaiah 53:5 — pierced for our transgressions; the Passion-wound economy within which the crown-of-thorns exchange operates
  • Matthew 27:29 — the crown of thorns placed on the mocked King; the pride-insult at the site of the reparation
  • Proverbs 8:13 — “pride and arrogance I hate”; the crown-of-thorns wound’s specific cause in what the LORD most hates
  • Romans 5:20 — grace superabounded over sin; the petition for grace proportional to each wound
  • Acts 17:28 — in him we live and move and have our being; “all creatures moved within Him” made visually explicit

ADDITIONS — HERS

  • “If the church is the leaven in the dough of society and if the leaven is wrong, the dough will never make bread”: Hogan opens with the Church-as-leaven application that connects September 2 (Church through the Cross) to September 9 (the intention to destroy pride in all creatures): the Church’s purity and the universal reparatory prayer are the same concern at different scales.

  • “Multiply this intention to infinity to cover all creatures, all times, all places, all conditions”: Hogan’s most significant pastoral elaboration — the intention should not be left at the individual prayer’s scope but explicitly multiplied to infinity within the divine will. One drop does not water the garden; a shower does. This extends the September 4 universal-intention commission to its maximum possible scope: infinite multiplication in the divine will.

  • Citation note — Galatians 6:17 vs. Colossians 1:24: See Stage Two DEVIATIONS. Hogan cites Galatians 6:17 for the “filling up what is lacking” content that belongs to Colossians 1:24. Citation correction recorded in observation notes.

VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS

No VIP designation, but Hogan opens: “this is a very important message about the effectiveness of our intentions.”

STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS

September 9 is the most visually demonstrated entry in the late Volume 4 sequence — the vision of all creatures within Jesus receiving the effect of Luisa’s intention is the most concrete visual confirmation of the universal-intention commission’s scope and effectiveness. Both citation streams converge on John 1:1–5, Colossians 1, Ephesians 1, Isaiah 2, and Matthew 19:26. Stage One adds Isaiah 53:5 (the Passion-wound economy), Matthew 27:29 (the crown-of-thorns as the pride-insult’s specific site), and Acts 17:28 (in him we live and move). Hogan’s citation error (Galatians 6:17 vs. Colossians 1:24) is the entry’s citation correction.

Cross-Entry Synthesis

Volume 4 — September 9, 1901 “Effectiveness of the intentions.”

STAGE THREE — Cross-Entry Synthesis

The Crown-of-Thorns Reparation: Precision Matching

The September 9 entry advances the reparation theology with a formally precise element: the reparation for pride is accomplished specifically through the crown-of-thorns exchange combined with the humbling of oneself as unworthy. The precision is doctrinal: pride was the sin that produced the crown of thorns as its specific offense to the divine; the repair that addresses this site is the taking of the thorns (relieving the divine of the pains pride caused) combined with the interior humbling (directly repairing the pride-sin through its opposite). The repair is proportional and site-specific.

Matthew 27:29 names the site: the crown placed on the mocked King-of-the-Jews is the pride-insult at its most concentrated — the creature’s pride crowning and mocking the Creator. Luisa’s taking the crown is the most precisely targeted reparation available: it addresses the specific instrument, the specific wound, the specific sin. Proverbs 8:13 (pride and arrogance are what the LORD hates most) names why this sin requires the most specific repair.

Isaiah 53:5 (pierced for our transgressions, wounded for our iniquities) frames the crown within the Passion’s full wound-economy: the September 4 commission to give glory for “as many wounds” finds its specific application here in the crown specifically, where each thorn is a unit of the pride-wound demanding a unit of humble-reparation.

The Universal-Intention Vision: September 4’s Commission Confirmed

The vision is the September 4 universal-intention commission confirmed visually. September 4 commanded: “place the intention of giving Me all the glory which others should give Me in that action, and of making up for the good they should do.” September 9 shows Luisa making this intention specifically for the pride-glory, and the vision shows what happens: Jesus receives the glory, moves toward the creatures within Him, and they receive the grace.

The mechanical logic is explicit: Jesus contains all creatures within Himself (John 1:1–5 — all made through Him; Colossians 1:16–17 — all things hold together in Him; Ephesians 1:10 — all to be summed up in Him; Acts 17:28 — in Him we live and move). The intention made by a soul within Jesus is therefore made within the One who contains all the intended recipients. The glory flows to Jesus; Jesus flows toward His creatures; the creatures receive what was impetrated. The October 2 prophetic arc and the entire intercessory sequence are given their most visually explicit single confirmation in this entry.

Hogan’s multiplication-directive is the synthesis’s most practically significant addition: “multiply this intention to infinity to cover all creatures, all times, all places, all conditions so that everybody’s covered.” One drop does not water the garden; a shower does. Within the divine will, the multiplication is possible — because “everything is possible with God” (Matthew 19:26) and because the divine will’s infinity makes the finite intention accessible to all creatures across all time.

The entry connects to August 6’s traffic-of-love (DW-SEED-2’s most explicit form) and to September 4’s universal-intention commission (the most operationally detailed directive): September 9 shows visually what those entries described doctrinally — the intention made within Jesus reaches all creatures because all creatures are within Jesus.

Synthesis Conclusion

The dominant biblical imagination is the Christ-contains-all tradition: John 1:1–5 (all things made through Him), Colossians 1:16–17 (all things hold together in Him), Ephesians 1:10 (all to be summed up in Him), and Acts 17:28 (in Him we live and move). Isaiah 2:11–12 (the pride of man to be brought low) gives the prayer its prophetic eschatological form; Colossians 1:24 (filling up what is lacking in Christ’s afflictions) grounds the reparatory-intention’s apostolic precedent.

The two findings of most theological significance from the combined analysis are: (1) The crown-of-thorns reparation as site-specific precision repair — the September 9 entry establishes that the most effective reparation matches the sin’s specific instrument, with humility specifically repairing pride at its exact wound-site; (2) The vision as the September 4 universal-intention commission’s visual confirmation — Jesus containing all creatures is the ontological ground of why the universal intention works: made within Jesus, it reaches all who are within Jesus, which is all creatures.
