03-1900-07-27 Biblical Resonance Analysis

Volume 3 — July 27, 1900 “Visions of attacks against the Church and of persecutions in China.”

STAGE ONE — INDEPENDENT BIBLICAL IDENTIFICATION

The Proposal, the Flight, and the Searching

“My daughter, what do you want Me to do? Tell Me – I will do what you want… I remained mute… He escaped like a flash, and I, running after that light, found myself outside of myself… wandering around the earth, the heavens, the stars, calling Him with my voice, with my singing.”

Amos 3:7 / Isaiah 64:10 (paraphrase) — Hogan cites both as the prophetic-disclosure frame for the entire entry. The divine disclosing the China persecutions and the ecclesial attacks to Luisa before she could have known them is the Amos 3:7 pattern operative throughout. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Psalm 63:1–3 (translation pending) — “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water… My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.” Hogan cites this explicitly. The wandering through earth, heavens, and stars calling for the divine is the Psalm 63 form of the desperate seeking: the soul thirsting for the divine in the wasteland of the privation, crying out across every space it can traverse. Type: affective/meditative

Song of Songs 5:6–8 (translation pending) — “I opened to my beloved, but my beloved had withdrawn himself and was gone. My soul failed me when he spoke. I sought him, but found him not; I called him, but he gave no answer… the watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city; they struck me, they wounded me.” Hogan cites Song of Songs 5:6 explicitly. The bride searching desperately for the Bridegroom who has gone — “I sought him but found him not, I called him but he gave no answer” — is the July 27 searching across earth and sky in its bridal form. The singing and calling with which Luisa hopes to “wound” Jesus and draw Him back is the Song’s search enacted on a cosmic scale. Type: affective/meditative

Matthew 6:10 — “Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” The confusion Luisa experiences at “I will do what you want” — “while it is I who must do what He wants” — is the Matthew 6:10 principle encountered in its deepest form: the soul formed in the divine will is rendered speechless when the divine inverts the relationship and offers to serve her will. The confusion is the evidence of formation: the soul shaped by “Your will be done” cannot process the inversion. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

The China Persecutions and the False Religious: The Attack on the Church

“I saw the cruel torment that continues in the war of China – churches knocked down, images of Our Lord thrown to the ground… later it will be done by false religious who, removing their masks and letting themselves be known for who they are, uniting with the open enemies of the Church, will launch such an attack as to be incredible to the human mind.”

Revelation 11:18 (translation pending) — “The time has come… for destroying the destroyers of the earth.” Hogan cites this explicitly again (as at July 21). The divine “taking revenge over them by destroying them” — the destroyers of the Church destroyed in their turn — is the Revelation 11:18 judgment applied to the ecclesial attackers. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Isaiah 28:7–22 (paraphrase) — Hogan cites explicitly. The prophets and priests staggering from strong drink, stumbling in judgment (Isaiah 28:7–8), the scoffing rulers making a covenant with death (Isaiah 28:15) — the Isaiah 28 form of the false religious who have aligned with the Church’s enemies. The “covenant with death” is the specific image for the false religious removing their masks and uniting with the open enemies. Type: typological

Matthew 15:1–12 (paraphrase) — Hogan cites explicitly. Jesus’s confrontation with the scribes and Pharisees — religious leaders who honor with lips while hearts are far from the divine — is the NT form of the false religious. “These people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me” (Matthew 15:8) is the mask before the unmasking. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Matthew 23:27–28 — “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones and of all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inwardly you are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.” Hogan cites Matthew 23 explicitly as the pulling-off of masks. The false religious “removing their masks” and revealing themselves is the Matthew 23 unmasking applied to the 20th-century Church’s internal attack. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Ezekiel 34:1–6 (translation pending) — “Woe to the shepherds of Israel who have been feeding themselves! Should not shepherds feed the sheep?… The weak you have not strengthened, the sick you have not healed… and you have scattered them… with force and harshness.” The false shepherds of Ezekiel 34 — who use their position to feed themselves rather than the flock — are the OT form of the false religious “in the appearance of dragons and vipers.” The shepherds who scatter and harm the sheep are the ecclesial authorities who, having removed their masks, devastate the garden-Church. Type: typological

Revelation 12:3–4 — “Another sign was seen in heaven. Behold, a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and on his heads seven crowns. His tail drew one third of the stars of the sky, and threw them to the earth. The dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child.” The crowd “in the appearance of dragons” and “vipers and other raging beasts” in the Church-garden is the Revelation 12 form: the dragon within the community of faith, operating against the woman-Church. The ecclesial masonry Hogan identifies has the Revelation dragon’s interior-destructive function. Type: typological

La Salette reference (Hogan): Hogan cites the 1846 La Salette apparition explicitly — Our Lady of La Salette saying “cardinals, bishops, and priests are taking many of the laity with them” — as the Marian corroboration of the July 27 vision. The False Religious attack was disclosed to Luisa in 1900, to La Salette in 1846, and is confirmed by both.

The Garden-Church Devastated

“I found myself inside a garden which seemed to be the Church, and inside of it there was a crowd of people in the appearance of dragons, of vipers and of other raging beasts, which devastated that garden, and then went outside, forming the ruin of the peoples.”

Jeremiah 12:10–11 — “Many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard. They have trodden my portion under foot. They have made my pleasant portion a desolate wilderness. They have made it a desolation. It mourns to me, being desolate. The whole land is made desolate, because no one cares.” The shepherds destroying the divine’s vineyard — trampling, making desolate — is the Jeremiah 12 form of the dragons devastating the garden-Church. The ruin spills outward from the vineyard to the land; the July 27 vision follows the same trajectory: devastation of the garden, then going outside “forming the ruin of the peoples.” Type: typological

Jude 1:12–13 — “These are hidden rocky reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you, shepherds who without fear feed themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots; wild waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the blackness of darkness has been reserved forever.” The hidden dangers within the community of faith — blemishes at the love feast, shepherds feeding themselves — are the Jude form of the dragons within the garden. The “twice dead, uprooted” is the Jude judgment awaiting the destroyers. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

”I Am Quite Tired — Let Us Go into Your Bed to Rest”

“All afflicted, He added: ‘My daughter, I am quite tired; let us go into your bed to rest if you want Me to remain with you.’ And I, fearing that He might leave, kept silent, allowing Him to fall asleep.”

Mark 4:38 — “He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion; and they woke him up and asked him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are dying?” Hogan cites explicitly. The divine falling asleep — the July 3 sleep-mirroring in its most intimate and explicitly voluntary form — is the Mark 4:38 rest. The divine who is tired from the weight of what has been disclosed chooses to rest in the victim soul’s bed, as He rested in the stern of the boat during the storm. The difference: the disciples woke Him; Luisa keeps silent and allows Him to sleep. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Matthew 8:24–25 — “Behold, a violent storm came up on the sea, so much that the boat was covered with the waves; but he was asleep. The disciples came to him and woke him up, saying, “Save us, Lord! We are dying!” The storm around the sleeping divine is the context: the visions of persecution and devastation are the storm; the divine sleeps in Luisa’s interior as in the boat’s stern. But this time Luisa does not wake Him — the silence she maintains is the “be quiet and obey” of July 3 enacted voluntarily and willingly. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Psalm 4:8 — “In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me live in safety.” The divine sleeping in the victim soul’s interior “in peace” — after the terrifying visions — is the Psalm 4:8 rest: the Lord who gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2) now receives sleep in the beloved’s interior. The intimacy is the entry’s most tender moment. Type: affective/meditative

  • Psalm 4:8 — “in peace I will lie down and sleep”; the divine’s rest in the victim soul’s interior

ADDITIONS — HERS

La Salette (1846) as Marian corroboration: Our Lady of La Salette warning that “cardinals, bishops, and priests are taking many of the laity with them” — the July 27 vision confirmed by the 1846 apparition 54 years earlier. The false-religious attack was disclosed to multiple prophetic witnesses across the 19th–20th centuries.

Ecclesiastical masonry named explicitly: Hogan’s most doctrinally specific ecclesial identification — “men who have got the highest jobs in the Church actually working against the Church” — combined with reference to the Blessed Lady’s warning to Don Gobbi about “ecclesiastical masonry.” This gives the dragons-and-vipers image its 20th-century ecclesial form with named precision.

The China Boxer Rebellion context: The “war of China” is identified as the 1900 Boxer Rebellion — the historical context for the churches knocked down and images thrown to the ground. The vision is both historically immediate (1900) and prophetically forward (the later false-religious attack).

VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS

No formal VIP designation. Hogan signals the gravity throughout: “really sad sad sad sad — they’ve done terrible damage to the Church.”

STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS

The entry presents four movements: the proposal-and-flight-and-search (Amos 3:7, Psalm 63, Song of Songs 5:6, Matthew 6:10); the China persecutions and false religious (Revelation 11:18, Isaiah 28:7–22, Matthew 15:1–12, Matthew 23, Ezekiel 34, Revelation 12:3–4); the garden-Church devastated (Jeremiah 12:10–11, Jude 1:12–13); and the divine falling asleep in the victim soul’s interior (Mark 4:38, Matthew 8:24–25, Psalm 4:8). Both analyses converge on Psalm 63, Song of Songs 5:6, Revelation 11:18, Isaiah 28:7–22, Matthew 15 and 23, and Mark 4:38. Stage One’s most significant additions are Matthew 6:10, Ezekiel 34, Revelation 12:3–4, Jeremiah 12:10–11, Jude 1:12–13, Matthew 8:24–25, and Psalm 4:8. Hogan’s most significant additions are the La Salette corroboration, the ecclesial masonry identification, and the Boxer Rebellion context.

Cross-Entry Synthesis

Volume 3 — July 27, 1900 “Visions of attacks against the Church and of persecutions in China.”

CROSS-ENTRY SYNTHESIS

“My daughter, what do you want Me to do? Tell Me – I will do what you want… I remained mute… I wandered around the earth, the heavens, the stars, calling Him with my voice, with my singing.”

The divine’s unexpected inversion — “I will do what you want” — produces Luisa’s silence. Matthew 6:10 gives the theological ground for the silence: the soul formed in “Your will be done” is rendered speechless when the divine inverts the relationship. The confusion is the evidence of formation: the soul shaped by the divine will cannot process the offer of having her own will served, because her will has been absorbed into the divine’s. The silence is the correct response, though Luisa does not yet understand why.

Psalm 63 — confirmed by both analyses — is the cosmic search’s governing text: “my soul thirsts for you… my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land.” The wandering through earth, heavens, and stars — calling, singing — is the Psalm 63 desperate seeking enacted on a cosmic scale. Song of Songs 5:6 — “I sought him but found him not, I called him but he gave no answer” — is the bridal form: the bride’s frantic search after the Bridegroom has withdrawn, the hope that voice and song will “wound” the beloved and draw him back. The July 27 search is the most cosmic form of the privation-search in the volume: not searching within the interior or the city but across the entire created order.

The China Persecutions and the False Religious: Interior Devastation

“I saw the cruel torment that continues in the war of China – churches knocked down… later it will be done by false religious who, removing their masks and letting themselves be known for who they are, uniting with the open enemies of the Church, will launch such an attack as to be incredible to the human mind.”

Amos 3:7 — the prophetic-disclosure frame — governs both the China persecution vision and the false-religious prophecy. The immediate context is the 1900 Boxer Rebellion; the forward content is the 20th-century ecclesial crisis. The two-stage structure — external barbarians first (Boxer Rebellion), then internal false religious — is the July 27 prophecy’s most alarming element. The external attack is visible and comprehensible; the internal attack, which will be “incredible to the human mind,” is the more severe.

Matthew 15:1–12 and Matthew 23 — confirmed by both analyses — give the false religious their Gospel form: the religious leaders who honor with lips while hearts are far (Matthew 15:8) and whose masks are pulled off in the woes of Matthew 23 (“whitewashed tombs… full of dead men’s bones”). Isaiah 28:7–22 gives the OT prophetic form: priests and prophets staggering in their judgments, rulers making a “covenant with death.” Ezekiel 34:1–6 gives the shepherd-form: those who feed themselves rather than the flock, scattering and harming the sheep.

Hogan’s most theologically precise contribution is the naming of “ecclesiastical masonry” — men occupying the highest positions in the Church while working against it — as the 20th-century form of the false religious removing their masks. The La Salette apparition of 1846 is the Marian corroboration: Our Lady warned 54 years before the July 27 vision that “cardinals, bishops, and priests are taking many of the laity with them.” The prophetic witness converges: La Salette (1846), Luisa (1900), and the 20th-century historical unfolding all name the same ecclesial crisis.

Revelation 11:18 — “for destroying the destroyers of the earth” — gives the destroyers’ judgment its Revelation form. Revelation 12:3–4 gives the garden-garden dragons their cosmic identification: the great red dragon within the woman-Church. The garden-vision is not metaphor but theological disclosure: the ecclesial community has within it the dragon’s own agents.

The Garden-Church Devastated and the Ruined Peoples

“Inside of it there was a crowd of people in the appearance of dragons, of vipers and of other raging beasts, which devastated that garden, and then went outside, forming the ruin of the peoples.”

Jeremiah 12:10–11 — “many shepherds have destroyed my vineyard; they have trampled down my portion; they have made it a desolate wilderness” — is the prophetic form of the garden devastated by its own false shepherds. The trajectory of the July 27 vision follows Jeremiah’s exactly: the vineyard-garden destroyed from within, then the desolation spreading outward to the people. The “ruin of the peoples” is the Jeremiah form of the ecclesial destruction’s social consequence: the Church’s internal betrayal does not remain internal but radiates outward as the civilization’s ruin.

Jude 1:12–13 gives the “blemishes on the love feast” form: the dangerous agents hidden within the community of faith, shepherds feeding themselves, twice dead and uprooted — awaiting the “gloom of utter darkness.” The dragon-vipers in the garden are the Jude “blemishes” at their most revealed.

”I Am Quite Tired”: The Divine Sleeping in the Victim Soul’s Interior

“All afflicted, He added: ‘My daughter, I am quite tired; let us go into your bed to rest if you want Me to remain with you.’ And I… kept silent, allowing Him to fall asleep.”

Mark 4:38 — confirmed by both analyses — gives the divine’s sleep its Gospel ground: Jesus asleep in the stern of the boat during the storm. The July 27 storm is the ecclesial persecution and the devastating vision; the divine’s rest is in Luisa’s interior rather than the boat’s stern — but the structural correspondence is exact. The difference from June 12 (when Luisa shook Him awake) and July 3 (when the disciples’ waking was the model for Luisa’s importunity) is significant: here Luisa keeps silent and allows the sleep. The formation arc from June to July — “be quiet and obey” (July 3) → voluntary silence enabling the divine’s rest (July 27) — is the development of the fruit of the most-perfect-humility teaching. The silence is no longer commanded; it is chosen.

Matthew 8:24–25 — the storm and the sleeping divine — gives the full parallel: the storm rages (persecution, ecclesial devastation), the divine sleeps (in the victim soul’s interior, as in the boat), the disciples (Luisa) have cried out and been told to be still, and now she keeps still. The “saved” Luisa does not cry “we are perishing” but allows the sleeping divine to rest. This is the July 3 “be quiet and obey” enacted as a free act of love. Psalm 4:8 — “in peace I will lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” — gives the divine’s rest its most tender form: the Lord who gives peace and safety to the beloved now receives peace and rest in the beloved’s own interior.

Synthesis Conclusion

Dominant biblical imagination: Psalm 63 / Song of Songs 5:6 (the cosmic search for the hidden divine), Matthew 15 / Matthew 23 / Isaiah 28:7–22 (the false religious unmasked), Revelation 12:3–4 (the dragon within the Church-garden), Mark 4:38 / Matthew 8:24–25 (the divine sleeping in the storm; Luisa’s voluntary silence as the formation’s fruit).

Most load-bearing scriptural traditions: The seeking-and-searching tradition (Psalm 63, Song of Songs 5:6) for the cosmic search; the false-shepherd tradition (Matthew 23, Isaiah 28, Ezekiel 34, Jeremiah 12:10–11) for the ecclesial attack; the storm-and-sleep tradition (Mark 4:38, Matthew 8:24–25) for the tender conclusion; Revelation 12:3–4 and Revelation 11:18 for the ecclesial persecution’s eschatological register.

Most theologically significant findings:

First, the false-religious prophecy is the most architecturally significant ecclesial vision in the volume. The two-stage attack — external barbarians (China, 1900) followed by internal false religious (20th-century ecclesial crisis) — is the more alarming because the internal attack is by definition harder to name, resist, and survive. The La Salette corroboration (1846) and the 20th-century historical unfolding confirm the prophetic disclosure. The volume’s chastisement-arc is not only civic; it is ecclesial, and the ecclesial form of the chastisement is the most severe.

Second, Luisa’s voluntary silence enabling the divine’s rest is the formation’s most concentrated fruit in the volume. From “I will try all stratagems to draw You to come” (June 20) through “be quiet and obey” (July 3) through the Balaam-angel correction (July 21), the arc arrives at a silence chosen freely and willingly, enabling the tired divine to rest. The Matthew 6:10 confusion at “I will do what you want” and the silent permission for the divine to sleep are the same formation seen from beginning and end.

Third, the entry’s structural movement — cosmic search → ecclesial devastation vision → tender sleeping — is the volume’s most complete single-entry arc: the soul seeking the divine across the cosmos finds it at last in the most quiet and domestic possible form, resting in the victim soul’s interior while the storms rage outside.

OBSERVATION NOTE

False-religious prophecy — most architecturally significant ecclesial vision in Volume 3: The two-stage attack on the Church: external barbarians (Boxer Rebellion, 1900) → internal false religious removing their masks and uniting with the Church’s open enemies. La Salette (1846) as Marian corroboration. Ecclesiastical masonry named explicitly by Hogan. Isaiah 28:7–22, Matthew 23, Ezekiel 34, and Revelation 12:3–4 as the governing scriptural complex.

Voluntary silence enabling the divine’s rest — formation arc’s most concentrated fruit: From “I will try all stratagems” (June 20) through “be quiet and obey” (July 3) through the angel-correction (July 21) to the freely chosen silence of July 27 that allows the tired divine to rest. The most-perfect-humility teaching enacted as a free act of love. Mark 4:38 / Matthew 8:24–25 as the structural archetype.

China Boxer Rebellion confirmed as immediate context (Hogan): The “war of China” is the 1900 Boxer Rebellion — churches knocked down, images thrown to the ground. The vision is simultaneously immediate (1900) and prophetically forward (20th-century ecclesial crisis).

False-religious prophecy — most architecturally significant ecclesial vision in Volume 3: Two-stage attack: external barbarians (Boxer Rebellion, 1900) → internal false religious removing masks and uniting with the Church’s open enemies. La Salette (1846) as Marian corroboration confirmed by Hogan. Ecclesiastical masonry named explicitly. Isaiah 28:7–22, Matthew 23, Ezekiel 34, and Revelation 12:3–4 as the governing scriptural complex. The ecclesial form of the chastisement is identified as more severe than the civic form.

Voluntary silence enabling the divine’s rest — formation arc’s most concentrated fruit: From “I will try all stratagems” (June 20) through “be quiet and obey” (July 3) through the angel-correction (July 21) to freely chosen silence (July 27) that allows the tired divine to rest in the victim soul’s interior. The most-perfect-humility teaching (June 20) enacted as a free act of love. Mark 4:38 / Matthew 8:24–25 as the structural archetype.

China Boxer Rebellion confirmed as immediate context (Hogan): The “war of China” is the 1900 Boxer Rebellion. The vision is simultaneously immediate and prophetically forward.
