Volume 3 — July 14, 1900 “The decree of chastisements is signed…”

STAGE ONE — INDEPENDENT BIBLICAL IDENTIFICATION

The Mutual Refreshment: Milk and the Crown of Thorns

“After He refreshed me with milk that flowed from His mouth by pouring it into me, and I refreshed Him by removing the crown of thorns from His head to drive it onto mine…”

1 Peter 2:2–3 — “as newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk, that with it you may grow, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” The milk flowing from the divine’s mouth into Luisa is the 1 Peter 2:2–3 spiritual milk in its most intimate form: not sought by the soul but poured directly into her by the divine, as the mother gives milk to the infant. The sustaining function Hogan identifies — Luisa’s miraculous bodily preservation — is the spiritual milk’s life-giving property applied to the whole person. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Isaiah 55:1 — “Hey! Come, everyone who thirsts, to the waters! Come, he who has no money, buy, and eat! Yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.” The divine’s free gift of milk — without cost, poured directly — is the Isaiah 55:1 invitation enacted in the most intimate form: the soul who comes to the divine receives nourishment without price, the milk of the divine’s own mouth. Type: typological

Song of Songs 5:1 — “I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride. I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk my wine with my milk. Friends Eat, friends! Drink, yes, drink abundantly, beloved.” The Bridegroom’s offering of milk in the Song of Songs — part of the mutual exchange of the bridal feast — is the affective register for the divine refreshing Luisa with milk. The bilateral exchange (milk given; crown of thorns taken) is the bridal exchange in the form of mutual refreshment. Type: affective/meditative

June 29 / June 14 / June 3 connection: The mutual refreshment continues the bilateral-exchange trilogy confirmed across June. The crown of thorns removal was enacted at June 10 (thorn by thorn, silently); here it is the reciprocal gift within the mutual refreshment — Luisa’s contribution to the exchange that gives the divine a respite from the thorns’ torment. The milk-and-crown exchange is the most intimate bilateral form yet: nourishment flowing in one direction, suffering absorbed in the other.

Colossians 1:24 (paraphrase) — The crown of thorns driven onto Luisa’s own head is Colossians 1:24 enacted again in its most concentrated physical form — the specific instrument of the Passion assumed into the victim soul’s body as her contribution to the bilateral exchange. The June 10 thorn-removal was intercessory; the July 14 driving-onto-the-head is the willing assumption of the thorns as refreshment for the divine. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

”The Decree Is Signed”: The Threshold of Irreversibility

“My daughter, the decree of chastisements is signed; there is nothing left but to decide the time of the execution.”

Isaiah 28:28 (paraphrase) — Hogan cites explicitly. The threshing that cannot be indefinitely prolonged — the grain that must at some point be processed — is the Isaiah 28 form of the “decree signed”: at some point the divine action that has been prepared must be executed. The signing of the decree is the completion of the preparation; the timing of the execution is all that remains undetermined. Type: typological

Revelation 10:6 — “and swore by him who lives forever and ever, who created heaven and the things that are in it, the earth and the things that are in it, and the sea and the things that are in it, that there will no longer be delay,” Hogan cites explicitly. The angel’s oath that there will be no more delay — the time of waiting is over — is the Revelation form of the decree signed: the eschatological judgment that has been held back is now released. The signing of the decree is the moment Revelation 10:6 names: the waiting is finished. Type: typological

Daniel 9:24–27 — “Seventy weeks are decreed on your people and on your holy city, to finish disobedience, to put an end to sin, to make reconciliation for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy. “Know therefore and discern that from the going out of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem to the Anointed One, the prince, will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks. It will be built again with street and moat, even in troubled times. After the sixty-two weeks the Anointed One will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the prince who come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. Its end will be with a flood, and war will be even to the end. Desolations are determined. He will make a firm covenant with many for one week. In the middle of the week he will cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. On the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate. Even to the full end that is decreed, wrath will be poured out on the desolate.” The divine decree about the people — fixed, signed, awaiting only the timing — is the Daniel 9 form of the chastisement-decree. The “going out of the word” is the decree issued; the subsequent events are its execution. The July 14 “signed decree” is the same structure: the divine word has gone out; only the timing remains. Type: typological

Jeremiah 4:6–7 — “Set up a standard toward Zion. Flee for safety! Don’t wait; for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.” A lion has gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations. He is on his way. He has gone out from his place, to make your land desolate, that your cities be laid waste, without inhabitant.” The divine decree executing destruction — already decided, now proceeding — is the Jeremiah form of the signed decree. The “destroyer of nations” setting out is the chastisement in the moment before its execution. Type: typological

Amos 3:7 (paraphrase) — Already confirmed across the volume. The divine disclosing the coming judgment to the prophetic interlocutor before it falls — “the decree is signed” disclosed to Luisa — is the Amos 3:7 pattern at its threshold moment: the disclosure that precedes the execution. Nothing further can be done to prevent; only the timing is undetermined. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Hogan’s identification: The signed decree is named as World Wars I and II: “the chastisements are world war one and two — anything that Luisa could have done to actually stop the wars, that time is over; the wars will happen and the Lord will show Luisa how to respond from here on in.”

STAGE TWO — COMPARISON WITH HOGAN’S COMMENTARY

CORRESPONDENCES

Isaiah 28:28 — Both identified. Hogan cites explicitly.

Revelation 10:6 — Both identified. Hogan cites explicitly.

World Wars I and II as the “signed decree” — Both analyses confirm Hogan’s identification.

The crown of thorns driven onto Luisa’s head as refreshment for the divine — Both analyses confirm the bilateral-exchange structure.

The milk as divine nourishment — Both confirm; Hogan is agnostic on whether it is purely spiritual or also bodily; Stage One identifies 1 Peter 2:2–3 and Isaiah 55:1 as the scriptural registers.

DEVIATIONS

No significant deviations.

ADDITIONS — MINE

  • 1 Peter 2:2–3 — “long for the pure spiritual milk”; the milk as nourishment for growth into salvation
  • Isaiah 55:1 — “come, buy milk without money and without price”; the divine’s free gift of nourishment
  • Song of Songs 5:1 — “I drank my wine with my milk”; the bridal feast’s milk as the affective register
  • Colossians 1:24 — the crown of thorns driven onto Luisa’s head as the physical assumption of Christ’s afflictions
  • Daniel 9:24–27 — the divine decree about the people, fixed and awaiting execution
  • Jeremiah 4:6–7 — the destroyer setting out; the chastisement in the moment before its execution

ADDITIONS — HERS

Luisa’s miraculous bodily sustenance: Hogan’s most contextually significant pastoral addition — “according to ordinary medical standards Luisa should be dead — she should have osteoporosis, muscle wasting — but she got none of that because the Lord sustains her.” The milk may be partly what sustains the body Luisa has not nourished normally. This is the volume’s most explicit acknowledgment of Luisa’s miraculous physical preservation.

“From here on in the Lord will show Luisa how to respond”: Hogan’s forward note — the intercession can no longer prevent the wars; the mode of Luisa’s participation shifts from prevention to response. This is a significant theological turn: the victim soul’s role in the chastisement-sequence moves from mitigation-seeking (May–July 1900) toward a different mode of engagement in the higher volumes.

VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS

No formal VIP designation. “The decree of chastisements is signed” is the entry’s most gravely weighted moment — the threshold of irreversibility in the volume’s chastisement-arc.

STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS

The entry presents two movements: the mutual refreshment (1 Peter 2:2–3, Isaiah 55:1, Song of Songs 5:1, Colossians 1:24) and the signed decree (Isaiah 28:28, Revelation 10:6, Daniel 9:24–27, Jeremiah 4:6–7, Amos 3:7). Both analyses converge on Isaiah 28:28 and Revelation 10:6. Stage One’s most significant additions are 1 Peter 2:2–3, Isaiah 55:1, Song of Songs 5:1, Daniel 9:24–27, and Jeremiah 4:6–7. Hogan’s most significant additions are the miraculous-bodily-sustenance note and the forward pastoral observation that Luisa’s mode of participation shifts from this point.

Cross-Entry Synthesis

Volume 3 — July 14, 1900 “The decree of chastisements is signed…”

CROSS-ENTRY SYNTHESIS

The Mutual Refreshment: Milk and the Crown of Thorns

“After He refreshed me with milk that flowed from His mouth by pouring it into me, and I refreshed Him by removing the crown of thorns from His head to drive it onto mine.”

The entry opens with the most intimate bilateral exchange in the volume’s final sequence. The mutual refreshment — divine milk poured into Luisa, Luisa’s crown of thorns assumed as her contribution — is the June 3 / May 24 / June 29 bilateral-exchange trilogy carried to its most bodily and most theologically concentrated form. At June 3, the divine breathed into the soul; at May 24, flowers and fruits were exchanged; at June 29, kisses and caresses were returned. July 14’s exchange is the most asymmetric of the series: the divine gives sustaining nourishment; Luisa gives the assumption of the specific instrument of the Passion’s most visible suffering.

1 Peter 2:2–3 — “long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation” — gives the milk its doctrinal register: the nourishment that enables growth, poured into the infant soul by the divine. Isaiah 55:1 gives the economic register: “come, buy milk without money and without price” — the divine’s gift requiring no creaturely merit, freely poured. Song of Songs 5:1 gives the bridal register: the Bridegroom’s sharing of milk in the feast of mutual love. Hogan is agnostic on whether the milk is purely spiritual or also bodily — noting that Luisa’s physical preservation defies ordinary medical expectation. The milk may be both: the spiritual nourishment and the bodily sustenance that maintains the victim soul for the volume’s remaining work.

The crown of thorns driven onto Luisa’s own head is Colossians 1:24 at its most concentrated bilateral form. The June 10 thorn-removal was enacted silently, without instruction, as love’s spontaneous impulse; July 14’s driving-onto-the-head is the deliberate assumption within the mutual refreshment’s structure — Luisa’s gift to the divine in return for the milk. The exchange has a precise economy: nourishment in, suffering assumed. The bilateral refreshment is complete.

”The Decree Is Signed”: The Threshold of Irreversibility

“My daughter, the decree of chastisements is signed; there is nothing left but to decide the time of the execution.”

Revelation 10:6 — confirmed by both analyses — is the governing image: “there would be no more delay.” The angel’s oath that the waiting is over is the Revelation form of the signed decree: the judgment held back has now been released into its pre-execution phase. Isaiah 28:28 — confirmed by both analyses — provides the OT process-form: the threshing that must at some point be executed cannot be indefinitely prolonged. Daniel 9:24–27 gives the decree-structure its prophetic form: the word gone out, the events set in motion, the timing alone remaining undetermined. Jeremiah 4:6–7 gives the moment its dramatic form: the destroyer setting out, the land’s waste already determined.

Amos 3:7 — the prophetic-disclosure pattern confirmed across the volume — frames the entire disclosure: the divine does nothing without revealing it to the prophetic interlocutor. “The decree is signed” is the final form of the Amos 3:7 disclosure: Luisa is told not of a coming chastisement (as in the earlier visions) but of the irreversible threshold. Hogan identifies the referent explicitly: World Wars I and II. The chastisements Luisa has been mitigating since May 1900 are the prologue; the signed decree names what the prologues were preparing.

The entry’s theological weight is concentrated in the word “signed.” The decree of chastisements is not merely decided or imminent — it is signed, finalized, sealed. The intercessory work of the entire May–July chastisement sequence has modulated the timing and the intensity (the one-third and one-half mitigations, the hurricanes routed, the storm dispersed, the fury temporarily broken) but has not — and could not — prevent the decree itself. Hogan’s most architecturally significant pastoral observation follows: “anything Luisa could have done to stop the wars — that time is over. The wars will happen. The Lord will show Luisa how to respond from here on in.” The mode of the victim soul’s participation is about to shift.

This is the chastisement-arc’s doctrinal resolution: not the prevention of the chastisements but the signing of the decree in the presence of the one who has done everything the intercessory office allows. The victim soul has stood in the breach, broken the fury, routed the storms, absorbed the bitternesses, shared the thorn-crown — and the decree is still signed. The intercessory economy does not prevent the decree; it shapes the conditions under which the decree is executed and the souls who experience it.

Synthesis Conclusion

Dominant biblical imagination: Revelation 10:6 (no more delay; the waiting is over), Isaiah 28:28 (the threshing that must be executed), Amos 3:7 (prophetic disclosure of the irreversible threshold), 1 Peter 2:2–3 / Song of Songs 5:1 (the milk as divine nourishment within the bridal exchange), Colossians 1:24 (the crown of thorns assumed as the victim soul’s bilateral contribution).

Most load-bearing scriptural traditions: The prophetic-decree tradition (Revelation 10:6, Isaiah 28:28, Daniel 9:24–27, Amos 3:7) for the signed decree and its irreversibility; the bilateral-exchange tradition (1 Peter 2:2–3, Song of Songs 5:1, Colossians 1:24) for the mutual refreshment as the entry’s opening movement.

Most theologically significant findings:

First, the signed decree is the chastisement-arc’s threshold of irreversibility and the most gravely weighted single statement in the volume’s chastisement sequence. The entire May–July intercessory sequence — the petitions, the mitigations, the storms routed, the fury temporarily broken — has not prevented the decree. The victim soul’s work shapes the execution’s conditions; it does not prevent the decree itself. The July 14 entry is honest about the limit of the intercessory office’s scope.

Second, the mutual refreshment that immediately precedes the signed decree is structurally deliberate: the most intimate bilateral exchange in the volume (milk given, thorns assumed) is placed immediately before the most gravely weighted doctrinal announcement. The divine does not announce the decree from distance; He announces it from within the embrace of mutual refreshment. The closeness of the relationship is at its peak in the moment the most difficult news is given.

Third, Hogan’s forward note — “the Lord will show Luisa how to respond from here on in” — is the volume’s most significant pastoral transition-marker. The intercession mode of May–July 1900 (prevention-seeking, mitigation-pressing, fury-breaking) gives way to a different mode of participation. The higher volumes will develop what that mode is. The July 14 entry is the hinge.

OBSERVATION NOTE

Chastisement-arc threshold of irreversibility — doctrinal resolution: “The decree of chastisements is signed; there is nothing left but to decide the time of the execution.” The signed decree (Revelation 10:6, Isaiah 28:28) is the May–July intercessory sequence’s honest limit: the victim soul modulates conditions, not the decree. World Wars I and II are the named referent (Hogan). The arc does not resolve in prevention; it resolves in the honest accounting of what intercessory work can and cannot do.

Luisa’s mode of participation shifts (Hogan): The prevention-seeking mode is closed as of July 14. “The Lord will show Luisa how to respond from here on in.” Track for the shift in Luisa’s intercessory mode in subsequent entries and higher volumes.

July 14 mutual refreshment — bilateral-exchange series complete: June 3 (breath), May 24 (flowers and fruits), June 29 (kisses and caresses), July 14 (milk and crown of thorns). The most asymmetric and bodily of the four: nourishment in, Passion-instrument assumed. The series escalates in intimacy and physical specificity.

Luisa’s miraculous bodily sustenance confirmed (Hogan): The milk may be partly what preserves the body that medical norms say should not survive. The most explicit acknowledgment of Luisa’s physical preservation in Volume 3.

Chastisement-arc threshold of irreversibility — doctrinal resolution: “The decree of chastisements is signed; there is nothing left but to decide the time of the execution.” Revelation 10:6 and Isaiah 28:28 are the governing anchors. The entire May–July intercessory sequence has modulated conditions but not the decree. World Wars I and II are the named referent (Hogan). The arc resolves not in prevention but in the honest accounting of the intercessory office’s scope.

Luisa’s mode of participation shifts (Hogan): The prevention-seeking mode is closed as of July 14. “The Lord will show Luisa how to respond from here on in.” Track for the shift in the intercessory mode in subsequent entries and higher volumes.

Bilateral-exchange series complete: June 3 (breath), May 24 (flowers and fruits), June 29 (kisses and caresses), July 14 (milk and crown of thorns). Most asymmetric and bodily of the four. Series escalates in intimacy and physical specificity.

Luisa’s miraculous bodily sustenance confirmed (Hogan): Most explicit Volume 3 acknowledgment that Luisa’s physical preservation defies ordinary medical expectation. The milk may partly sustain the body that normal nourishment has not maintained.
