Volume 3 — May 18, 1900 “Filling one’s interior with God.”
STAGE ONE — INDEPENDENT BIBLICAL IDENTIFICATION
”Fill Your Interior with Me, and Fatten It with All Virtues, to the Point of Overflowing Outside”
“Try to fill your interior with Me, and to fatten it with all virtues, to the point of overflowing outside; and when you come to make this overflow, then will I take you to Heaven and all your privations will end.”
John 7:37–39 — “Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink! He who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.” But he said this about the Spirit, which those believing in him were to receive. For the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus wasn’t yet glorified.”Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.“’ Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive.” Hogan cites this explicitly. Already confirmed at January 31 for the overflow-to-creatures principle and February 19 for the exclusive-love teaching. The “overflow outside” that the interior filled with God produces is John 7:37–39’s rivers of living water: the soul filled to overflowing becomes the source through which the Spirit’s living water flows to others. The “overflow” is the condition for the eschatological completion: “when you come to make this overflow, then will I take you to Heaven.” Type: direct doctrinal parallel
Ephesians 3:19 — “and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” The “filled with all the fullness of God” is the Pauline form of “fill your interior with Me, and fatten it with all virtues.” The fullness of God filling the interior is the Pauline goal; the “fattening with virtues” is the progressive form of filling — each virtue added is more of the divine interior filling the soul’s interior. Type: direct doctrinal parallel
John 15:4–5 — “Remain in me, and I in you. As the branch can’t bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you, unless you remain in me. … apart from me you can do nothing.” The abiding in the vine that produces fruit is the Johannine form of “fill your interior with Me”: the interior filled with Christ is the branch fully abiding in the vine, and the overflow outside is the fruit-bearing. The abiding and the filling are the same interior condition from two angles. Type: direct doctrinal parallel
Colossians 3:16 — “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your heart to the Lord.” The word of Christ dwelling richly — not sparingly but to the fullness — is the Pauline form of “fill your interior with Me.” The rich dwelling produces the singing and teaching that overflow to others, corresponding to the “overflow outside” that follows the interior filling. Type: direct doctrinal parallel
Galatians 5:22–23 — “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.” The “fatten it with all virtues” finds its specific content in the fruit of the Spirit: the virtues that fill the interior are the Spirit’s own fruit, and the fattening-with-virtues is the progressive growth of the Spirit’s fruit within the soul. Type: direct doctrinal parallel
November 27 connection (RP-5): The “when you come to make this overflow, then will I take you to Heaven” is the most explicit statement in the volume of the overflow as the eschatological threshold. The November 27 VIP teaching (“grace is nothing other than to possess Me… the soul possesses her paradise wherever she is”) and the May 18 overflow-and-Heaven teaching are the same reality: the soul filled to overflowing possesses the interior paradise that will open into the heavenly paradise when the filling is complete.
Three Days of Chastisement
“Three distinct days have been prepared, each far from the other, with storms, hail, lightnings and floods, which will cause great damage to men and to plants.”
Amos 3:7 (paraphrase) — Already confirmed throughout the volume. The prophetic disclosure of the three days of chastisement is the governing principle: the Lord shows the prophet so that intercession can be made. Type: direct doctrinal parallel
Revelation 8:7–12 — “The first sounded, and there followed hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth. One third of the earth was burned up, and one third of the trees were burned up, and all green grass was burned up. The second angel sounded, and something like a great burning mountain was thrown into the sea. One third of the sea became blood, and one third of the living creatures which were in the sea died. One third of the ships were destroyed. The third angel sounded, and a great star fell from the sky, burning like a torch, and it fell on one third of the rivers, and on the springs of water. The name of the star is “Wormwood.” One third of the waters became wormwood. Many people died from the waters, because they were made bitter. The fourth angel sounded, and one third of the sun was struck, and one third of the moon, and one third of the stars, so that one third of them would be darkened; and the day wouldn’t shine for one third of it, and the night in the same way.” The three distinct days of storms, hail, lightnings, and floods correspond to the Apocalyptic pattern of successive trumpet-judgments: each brings a different form of natural catastrophe at a different time. The three distinct days “each far from the other” mirrors the sequential nature of the trumpet-blasts. Type: typological
Hogan’s lightning-as-divine-anger observation: Hogan’s most theologically interesting pastoral note — “if God is light and this light comes to us very gently with the sun on the outside and grace on the inside, then it means that lightning means God is angry” — provides the meteorological-theological interpretive key: the gentle dew of grace on the inside corresponds to the gentle light of the sun on the outside; the storms and lightning on the outside correspond to the divine wrath when the interior grace has been refused. The implicit scriptural ground is Psalm 18:14 (“he sent out his arrows and scattered them; he flashed forth lightnings and routed them”) and Habakkuk 3:11 (“the sun and moon stood still in their place at the light of your arrows as they sped, at the flash of your glittering spear”).
STAGE TWO — COMPARISON WITH HOGAN’S COMMENTARY
CORRESPONDENCES
John 7:37–39 — Both identified. Hogan cites explicitly. Stage One confirms.
The filling-to-overflow as the eschatological threshold — Both analyses confirm: “when you come to make this overflow, I will take you to Heaven.” Hogan: “there’s still a lot of growing to be done” (confirmed by his observation that Luisa has 47 more years to live).
Amos 3:7 (three days of chastisement) — Both analyses confirm. Stage One confirms.
DEVIATIONS
No significant deviations.
ADDITIONS — MINE
- Ephesians 3:19 — “filled with all the fullness of God”; the Pauline form of filling the interior
- John 15:4–5 — abiding in the vine / apart from me you can do nothing; the Johannine filling-and-fruit form
- Colossians 3:16 — let the word of Christ dwell richly; the rich-dwelling form of interior filling
- Galatians 5:22–23 — the fruit of the Spirit; the specific content of “all virtues” that fatten the interior
- Revelation 8:7–12 — the successive trumpet-judgments; the Apocalyptic form of the three distinct days of chastisement
ADDITIONS — HERS
Lightning as the divine’s anger: Hogan’s most theologically distinctive pastoral note — the gentle light of the sun corresponds to the gentle grace of the interior; the lightning corresponds to the divine’s anger when the grace is refused. This interpretive key provides the meteorological-theological coherence for the volume’s recurring hailstorm-and-flood chastisements: they are the exterior form of what happens when the interior grace (the dew) has been rejected.
Luisa has 47 more years to live: Hogan’s pastoral observation — placing the “who knows when I get to make this overflow” question in the context of Luisa’s remaining lifespan — is the most chronologically precise forward bridge in the volume. The overflow that will transport her to heaven is still 47 years away (1947). The filling is a life’s work, not a moment’s achievement.
VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS
No formal VIP designation.
STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS
The entry presents the interior-filling-to-overflow as the eschatological threshold: the soul filled with God and fattened with virtues to the point of overflow is the soul ready for heaven. Both analyses converge on John 7:37–39 and Amos 3:7. Stage One’s most significant additions are Ephesians 3:19 (the fullness-of-God form), John 15:4–5 (the abiding-in-the-vine form), Galatians 5:22–23 (the fruit-of-the-Spirit as the virtues’ content), and Revelation 8:7–12 (the three distinct days as the Apocalyptic sequential-judgment type). Hogan’s most significant additions are the lightning-as-anger interpretive key and the 47-years forward bridge.
Cross-Entry Synthesis

CROSS-ENTRY SYNTHESIS
Fill Your Interior with Me: The Eschatological Threshold
“Try to fill your interior with Me, and to fatten it with all virtues, to the point of overflowing outside; and when you come to make this overflow, then will I take you to Heaven and all your privations will end.”
John 7:37–39 — confirmed by both analyses — is the governing anchor: “out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” The overflow outside is the Spirit’s rivers flowing through the soul who has been filled to overflowing. The filling is progressive (“fatten it with all virtues”), not instantaneous; the overflow is the threshold between the earthly completion and the heavenly consummation.
The entry’s eschatological statement — “when you come to make this overflow, then will I take you to Heaven” — is the most explicit Volume 3 statement of the condition for the earthly beatitude’s completion in heaven. The November 27 VIP teaching (grace = possessing Christ = interior paradise) and the February 26 divine will threshold (the beatitude within the circle) are here given their eschatological endpoint: the interior paradise does not end at death but overflows into the heavenly paradise when the filling reaches the point of overflow.
Ephesians 3:19 (“filled with all the fullness of God”) names the content: it is not merely the soul’s own spiritual maturity that must fill the interior, but God Himself — “fill your interior with Me.” The fattening-with-virtues is the filling’s visible form: each virtue added is more of the divine’s own life filling the interior space. Galatians 5:22–23 (the fruit of the Spirit) names the virtues’ source: they are not the soul’s self-generated achievements but the Spirit’s fruit within the filled interior.
The “who knows when I get to make this overflow?” is the entry’s final thought — and the 47-years chronology (Hogan) places the question in its proper context. The overflow is a life’s work, not a moment’s achievement. The volume’s entire formation arc (January 27–May 18) has been the progressive filling; May 18 names the threshold toward which the filling moves.
May 17–18 as a Two-Entry Unit
May 17 and May 18 form the volume’s most consecutive doctrinal progression since the January-February arc:
- May 17: The victim soul’s power beyond the angels — the public office confirmed, the angelic endorsement given. The vocation at its most external and cosmic: what the victim soul’s suffering accomplishes for the world.
- May 18: The interior filling — what must be accomplished within the soul for the vocation’s completion to be reached. The overflow that will transport the soul to heaven is the interior form of what May 17’s external effect requires.
The two entries are the inside and outside of the same reality: the interior filling (May 18) produces the overflow that accomplishes the external good (May 17’s rivers of living water flowing for all). The soul must be filled before she can overflow; she must overflow before the angels’ endorsed vocation reaches its completion.
The Three Days of Chastisement: The Exterior Consequence of the Interior’s Rejection
Hogan’s lightning-as-anger interpretive key places the three days of storms, hail, lightnings, and floods in their theological context: the exterior chastisement is the inverse of the interior grace. The gentle dew of grace (the interior filling) corresponds to the gentle light of the sun (the exterior benignity); the lightning and storms (the exterior chastisement) correspond to the divine’s wrath when the interior grace has been refused. The three days of chastisement are the exterior form of what happens when the May 18 filling is rejected: the interior that refuses to be filled with God generates the exterior condition that requires corrective storm.
The Revelation 8 sequential trumpet-judgments are the eschatological type: each day of chastisement “far from the other” mirrors the trumpet-blasts’ sequential timing. The chastisements are not simultaneous but distributed — the divine gives time between each for repentance.
Synthesis Conclusion
Dominant biblical imagination: The entry operates within the indwelling-and-overflow tradition (John 7:37–39, Eph 3:19, John 15:4–5, Col 3:16) for the filling-to-overflow teaching; and the Amos prophetic-disclosure tradition (Amos 3:7) for the three-days-of-chastisement.
Most load-bearing scriptural traditions: John 7:37–39 (the rivers of living water from the filled soul — the overflow’s source), Ephesians 3:19 (filled with all the fullness of God — the filling’s content and goal), and Galatians 5:22–23 (the fruit of the Spirit as the virtues that fatten the interior).
Most theologically significant findings:
First, “when you come to make this overflow, then will I take you to Heaven” is the volume’s explicit statement of the eschatological threshold: the interior paradise of February 26 and November 27 overflows into the heavenly paradise when the filling is complete. The entire January–May arc has been the progressive filling; May 18 names where the filling leads.
Second, the “fattening with virtues” language is the volume’s most expansive account of virtue’s role in the interior filling: the virtues are not merely the soul’s moral achievements but the specific form of the divine’s self-filling of the interior. Each virtue is more of the divine — the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23) growing within the filled interior.
Third, the May 17–18 inside-outside pairing is the volume’s most concentrated statement of the complete divine will vocation: the interior filling (May 18) and the external overflow-for-the-public-good (May 17) are the inside and outside of the same reality. The victim soul must be filled before she can overflow; the overflow is what the angels endorsed as surpassing their own capacity.
OBSERVATION NOTE
RP-5 (Heaven on earth) — eschatological endpoint named: “When you come to make this overflow, then will I take you to Heaven and all your privations will end” is RP-5’s eschatological endpoint. The interior paradise (November 27, February 26) overflows into the heavenly paradise when the filling is complete. This is the most explicit Volume 3 statement of RP-5’s eschatological destination.
47-years forward bridge: Hogan’s “poor girl has 47 more years to live” is the most chronologically precise forward bridge in the volume. The overflow-to-heaven threshold is still Luisa’s entire remaining life away. The filling is the work of the entire corpus; Volume 3 has opened and begun it.
Observation Notes

03-1900-05-18
RP-5 eschatological endpoint named — “when you come to make this overflow, then will I take you to Heaven” is RP-5’s explicit eschatological destination. The interior paradise (November 27, February 26) overflows into the heavenly paradise when the filling is complete. Most explicit Volume 3 statement of RP-5’s endpoint.
May 17–18 inside-outside pairing — the victim soul’s external power beyond the angels (May 17) and the interior filling that produces the overflow (May 18) are the inside and outside of the same reality. The soul must be filled before she can overflow; the overflow is what the angels endorsed.
47-years forward bridge — Hogan’s most chronologically precise forward bridge: the overflow-to-heaven threshold is still Luisa’s entire remaining life away. The filling is the work of the full 36-volume corpus; Volume 3 has opened and begun it.
Hogan’s lightning-as-anger interpretive key — the gentle dew of grace on the inside corresponds to the gentle light of the sun on the outside; when the interior grace is refused, the exterior response is lightning and storms. The meteorological-theological coherence of the volume’s recurring chastisement visions.
“Fattening with virtues” language — the most expansive Volume 3 account of virtue’s role: each virtue added to the interior is more of the divine’s self-filling. The fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22–23) is the virtues’ source.
