03-1900-03-11 Biblical Resonance Analysis

Volume 3 — March 11, 1900 “Encounter with a soul in Purgatory.”

STAGE ONE — INDEPENDENT BIBLICAL IDENTIFICATION

The Afflicted Jesus and the Mortality Vision

“I saw good Jesus more afflicted than usual, threatening a great mortality of people, and I saw that in certain towns many were dying.”

Amos 3:7 — “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, unless he reveals his secret to his servants the prophets.” Already confirmed at November 1, November 24, February 19, and February 23. The disclosure of the coming mortality before it occurs is the governing principle: the victim soul is shown what is coming so that intercession can be made. The afflicted Jesus threatening mortality is the prophetic vision format established across the volume. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Matthew 24:7 — “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places.” The “great mortality in certain towns” corresponds to the Matthean tribulation sequence — the beginning of birth pains that precede the end-time events. Consistent with the February 23 eschatological disclosure (“the time has come, the end is approaching”). Type: direct doctrinal parallel

The Soul in Purgatory: Confirmation of Discernment

“Since you are present before the Truth and you know things with clarity, with no possibility of deceiving yourself, you can tell me the truth about my things… Do not fear, your state is Will of God, and Jesus loves you very much — this is why He is pleased to manifest Himself to you.”

1 Corinthians 13:12 — “For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I will know fully, even as I was also fully known.” Already confirmed at November 21 (the partial mirror of the pilgrimage vs. the face-to-face of heaven) and February 5 (the discernment context). The soul in Purgatory’s clarity — “present before the Truth… you know things with clarity, with no possibility of deceiving yourself” — is the 1 Corinthians 13:12 “face to face” condition: the purified soul sees with the clarity of the eschatological knowing. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

John 14:6 — “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.” Already confirmed throughout the volume. The soul who is “present before the Truth” is present before the Person of Christ who is Truth. The Purgatory soul’s discernment advantage — she cannot be deceived — is the condition of one who stands before the divine Truth directly. Type: Christological/Trinitarian

Hebrews 4:13 — “There is no creature that is hidden from his sight, but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him to whom we must give an account.” The Purgatory soul’s clarity corresponds to the total transparency before the divine gaze: in Purgatory, nothing is hidden from the divine sight, and therefore the soul herself sees with corresponding clarity. To stand before the One from whom nothing is hidden is to know without self-deception. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

The Soul’s Revelation: Total Immersion in the Divine Will

“We are so immersed in God that we cannot even flutter our eyelashes if we do not have His concourse. We dwell in God just like a person who dwelled in another body… For us every will has ceased, our will is only the Will of God – from It we live, in It we find all our contentment, and It forms all our good and our glory.”

This is the entry’s doctrinal summit — a revelation about the Purgatory condition that is simultaneously a description of the divine will’s ultimate operation in the soul.

Acts 17:28 — “‘For in him we live, move, and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also his offspring.’” Already confirmed throughout the volume as DW-SEED-1’s primary scriptural anchor. The Purgatory soul’s “we dwell in God just like a person who dwelled in another body” is Acts 17:28 in its most experiential and complete form: the soul so immersed in God that she cannot act without His concourse is the Acts 17:28 condition of absolute dependence brought to full consciousness and completion. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Colossians 1:17 — “He is before all things, and in him all things are held together.” Already confirmed as DW-SEED-1’s structural ground. The Purgatory soul’s inability to “flutter her eyelashes” without God’s concourse is the experiential form of “in him all things hold together” — every creaturely act, including the smallest physical movement, is held together by and within the divine will. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Galatians 2:20 — “I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.” Already confirmed throughout the volume as the Pauline existential form of the divine indwelling. “Every will has ceased, our will is only the Will of God” is Galatians 2:20 brought to its completion: not “I live, but Christ also lives in me” but “every will has ceased” — the I is entirely replaced by the divine will’s operation. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Philippians 2:13 — “For it is God who works in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” The divine working both the willing and the working within the soul corresponds to the Purgatory soul’s “our will is only the Will of God.” God wills and works in the soul; the soul’s own willing has been absorbed into the divine willing. Type: direct doctrinal parallel

Revelation 21:3–4 — “I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, “Behold, God’s dwelling is with people; and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; neither will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain any more. The first things have passed away.” The New Jerusalem’s condition — God dwelling with man, death gone, all tears wiped — is the eschatological form of the Purgatory soul’s “we dwell in God.” The Purgatory souls are en route to the condition Revelation 21:3–4 names; the divine will condition they describe is the transitional form of the New Jerusalem’s eternal condition. Type: typological

John 17:21–23 — “that they may all be one; even as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that you sent me. The glory which you have given me, I have given to them, that they may be one, even as we are one, I in them, and you in me, that they may be perfected into one, that the world may know that you sent me and loved them, even as you loved me.” Already confirmed at February 26 for the divinization within the divine will. The Purgatory soul’s immersion in God corresponds to the Johannine unity-in-God that the High Priestly Prayer requests: the condition the prayer anticipated is what Purgatory is realizing progressively. Type: Christological/Trinitarian

1 John 3:2 — “Beloved, now we are children of God. It is not yet revealed what we will be; but we know that when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him just as he is.” The progressive conformity to Christ through the seeing — “we shall be like him because we shall see him” — is the Johannine form of the Purgatory purification process: the souls immersed in the divine will become like what they contemplate. Hogan: “gradually they mold into it and they become like that which they worship” (echoing 2 Cor 3:18 already confirmed throughout the volume). Type: direct doctrinal parallel

DW-SEED-1 / DW-SEED-3 convergence: The Purgatory soul’s revelation is the most explicit Volume 3 confirmation of both DW-SEED seeds in combination: DW-SEED-1 (the divine will omnipresent, sustaining every creature — “we cannot flutter our eyelashes without His concourse”) and DW-SEED-3 (acting in the divine will to please God — “our will is only the Will of God, from It we live, in It we find all our contentment”). The Purgatory soul describes the condition toward which DW-SEED-3 points as the earthly practice: the completed form of what February 26 began to describe.

STAGE TWO — COMPARISON WITH HOGAN’S COMMENTARY

CORRESPONDENCES

Acts 17:28 / DW-SEED-1 (implicit) — Both analyses confirm the Purgatory soul’s immersion-in-God as Acts 17:28 in its most experiential form. Hogan: “the divine will is in everything… we cannot do without God absolutely agreeing to it… here this soul is saying we are completely immersed in God.”

1 John 3:2 / 2 Corinthians 3:18 (implicit) — Both analyses confirm the “you become like that which you worship” principle as operative in Purgatory. Hogan: “gradually they mold into it and they become like that which they worship.”

The Purgatory soul as a corroboration of the February 26 divine will teaching — Both analyses confirm that the soul’s revelation (“our will is only the Will of God”) is the confirmation of February 26’s threshold from Purgatory’s perspective. The condition toward which February 26 points is the condition Purgatory souls already inhabit.

The circle of the divine will applied to Purgatory — Hogan: “here’s an image of the souls in purgatory completely inside the circle of the divine will.” The February 26 “circle of the divine will” with no opening to go out is exactly the Purgatory soul’s condition.

DEVIATIONS

No significant deviations. Hogan does not provide specific Scripture citations for this entry; all Stage Two analysis is based on doctrinal correspondences rather than confirmed citations.

ADDITIONS — MINE

  • 1 Corinthians 13:12 — the face-to-face clarity of the Purgatory soul vs. the mirror-dimly of the pilgrim
  • John 14:6 — “I am the truth”; present before the Truth = present before the Person
  • Hebrews 4:13 — total transparency before the divine gaze as the ground for the Purgatory soul’s clarity
  • Colossians 1:17 — in him all things hold together; the “cannot flutter eyelashes without His concourse” ground
  • Galatians 2:20 — no longer I who live; “every will has ceased”
  • Philippians 2:13 — God works both the willing and working; the divine will absorbing the creature’s will
  • Revelation 21:3–4 — God dwelling with man; the New Jerusalem as the eschatological form of the immersion
  • John 17:21–23 — the Trinitarian unity extended to the soul; the progressive realization in Purgatory
  • Matthew 24:7 — great mortality as part of the tribulation sequence

ADDITIONS — HERS

The new image of Purgatory: Hogan’s most significant pastoral addition is the reframing of Purgatory as a condition of immersion-in-God rather than merely fire and pain. “The fire of love is God… here this soul is saying we are completely immersed in God.” The implicit scriptural ground is 1 John 4:8, 16 (God is love) and Hebrews 12:29 (our God is a consuming fire): the fire of Purgatory is the divine love itself encountered by souls not yet fully purified to receive it without pain.

The holy-person analogy: Hogan’s pastoral illustration — being in the presence of a very holy person makes one’s own unholiness uncomfortable, not because the holy person does anything about it but simply by being themselves — is the experiential form of the Purgatory soul’s description. The implicit scriptural ground is Isaiah 6:5 (Isaiah’s “woe is me” before the divine holiness — already confirmed at November 21 for the shiver of unworthiness). Purgatory is the sustained experience of what Isaiah felt in the Throne-room: the divine holiness that exposes the creature’s remaining impurity.

VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS

No formal VIP designation. However, Hogan’s triple “wonderful” elevation — “i think this is a most wonderful wonderful picture of the souls in purgatory” — is functionally equivalent to the triple elevation used at other significant entries.

STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS

The entry presents the Purgatory soul’s revelation as the most significant corroboration in the volume of the February 26 divine will threshold: the condition toward which the living soul is being prepared is the condition the Purgatory soul already inhabits — total immersion in the divine will, every personal will ceased, the divine will as the soul’s only life and contentment. Hogan provides no explicit Scripture citations but confirms the DW-SEED-1 and DW-SEED-3 convergence and introduces the “you become like that which you worship” principle in its Purgatorial application. Stage One’s most significant additions are the Acts 17:28 / Colossians 1:17 / Galatians 2:20 / Philippians 2:13 complex for the will-cessation doctrine and the Revelation 21:3–4 / John 17:21–23 eschatological framing.

Cross-Entry Synthesis

Volume 3 — March 11, 1900 “Encounter with a soul in Purgatory.”

CROSS-ENTRY SYNTHESIS

The Afflicted Jesus and the Mortality Vision

“I saw good Jesus more afflicted than usual, threatening a great mortality of people.”

Amos 3:7 governs: the Lord does nothing without first telling the prophets. The March 11 mortality vision continues the prophetic-disclosure arc (November 1, November 24, February 19, February 23), extending it toward what Hogan identifies as a hint at World War One. The afflicted Jesus threatening mortality is the same Jesus who appeared in the bound-and-spat-upon Passion vision of January 12: His Passion-condition discloses the present state of the mystical body (IP-1) and the approaching judgment (HCR-4). The victim soul sees in advance so that she can intercede in advance.

The Soul in Purgatory: Confirmation From Beyond the Veil

“Do not fear, your state is Will of God, and Jesus loves you very much — this is why He is pleased to manifest Himself to you.”

The Purgatory soul’s confirmation of Luisa’s discernment is the volume’s most unusual form of the discernment-corroboration that has run from November 4 (the cross-sign test) through January 6 (the Hail Mary and Our Father test) through February 23 (the strength-to-sustain principle). The discernment tradition now extends beyond the living to the souls in Purgatory — specifically because they possess what the living lack: the face-to-face clarity of 1 Corinthians 13:12, standing before the Person who is Truth (John 14:6), with total transparency before the divine gaze (Hebrews 4:13).

The Purgatory soul cannot be deceived because she stands before the One from whom nothing is hidden. Her confirmation — “your state is Will of God” — carries an epistemological authority that no living witness can match. This is the discernment arc’s most decisive external confirmation: from the February 23 strength-to-sustain criterion (internal) to the Purgatory soul’s direct testimony (external from beyond the veil). The two forms of confirmation are complementary: the internal strength-to-sustain showed the divine will’s presence from within; the Purgatory soul’s testimony confirms it from without.

The Purgatory Revelation: Total Immersion in the Divine Will

“We are so immersed in God that we cannot even flutter our eyelashes if we do not have His concourse. We dwell in God just like a person who dwelled in another body… For us every will has ceased, our will is only the Will of God — from It we live, in It we find all our contentment, and It forms all our good and our glory.”

This is the most doctrinally significant content in the entry and one of the most significant in the volume. The Purgatory soul describes the divine will condition from the other side of the veil, and what she describes is the completion of what February 26 began to teach.

Acts 17:28 (“in him we live and move and have our being”) and Colossians 1:17 (“in him all things hold together”) are the doctrinal grounds for “we cannot flutter our eyelashes without His concourse.” The smallest possible creaturely movement — the fluttering of an eyelash — requires the divine will’s concurrence. The Purgatory soul has become fully conscious of what is always true for every creature: absolute dependence on the divine will for every act, movement, and existence.

Galatians 2:20 (“it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me”) is brought to its completion: “every will has ceased, our will is only the Will of God.” Galatians 2:20 names the Pauline mystic’s aspiration; the Purgatory soul names its completion. What Paul formulated as the ongoing dying-to-self that allows Christ to live in him has reached its absolute term in Purgatory: the personal will has completely ceased; only the divine will remains.

The connection to February 26 is precise and architecturally illuminating. February 26 said: “take My Will and hold it as if it were My very Person… if you remain in the circle of My Will, there you will experience joys most ineffable and pleasures most pure.” The Purgatory soul confirms both sides of this teaching from within the experience:

  • Taking the divine will as Christ’s very Person: “from It we live, in It we find all our contentment” — the Purgatory soul has no other source of life or contentment than the divine will, because the divine will is the Person of Christ.
  • The joys most ineffable within the circle: “showing an unspeakable contentment for this Will of God” — the “unspeakable contentment” is the experiential form of the “joys most ineffable” that February 26 promised within the circle.

The Purgatory soul is the living confirmation — from the other side of the temporal order — that the February 26 teaching is true. The condition Jesus offered Luisa as the earthly form of beatitude is the condition the Purgatory souls inhabit as the transitional form of the heavenly beatitude.

Hogan’s pastoral reframing is the entry’s most theologically creative addition: “the fire of Purgatory is God, who is love and who is a consuming fire” (1 John 4:8 + Hebrews 12:29). The pain of Purgatory is not punitive fire from outside but the divine love encountered by souls not yet fully purified to receive it without discomfort. Hogan’s holy-person analogy — being in the presence of a very holy person makes one’s unholiness uncomfortable without the holy person doing anything — is the experiential form of Isaiah 6:5 (the prophet’s “woe is me” in the Throne-room) applied progressively: the Purgatory souls are in the divine Throne-room until the exposure fully purifies them.

The Purgatory Revelation as DW-SEED Confirmation

The Purgatory soul’s testimony is the volume’s most significant DW-SEED confirmation:

  • DW-SEED-1 confirmed: “We cannot flutter our eyelashes without His concourse… we dwell in God just like a person who dwelled in another body.” The divine will’s omnipresence in and sustaining of every creature — first named in Volume 2 (October 1) and explicitly deployed in November 13 — is here confirmed by a soul who is conscious of it. The Purgatory soul is not theorizing but reporting her experienced reality.

  • DW-SEED-2 confirmed: “Our will is only the Will of God” — the reparatory prayer made in the divine will (DW-SEED-2: October 21 Volume 2) is the earthly form of what the Purgatory soul experiences as her entire being. The Purgatory soul makes every “movement” in the divine will because she has no other will.

  • DW-SEED-3 confirmed: “From It we live, in It we find all our contentment, and It forms all our good and our glory” — this is DW-SEED-3’s completed form: all actions done to please God, to the point where there is no action outside the divine will at all. The operative principle of acting-in-the-divine-will (DW-SEED-3) has reached its term: there is no other acting.

All three DW-SEEDs are confirmed simultaneously by the Purgatory soul’s single statement. The Purgatory condition is the divine will theology’s realized form — the condition toward which all three seeds have been pointing. February 26 named the earthly entry into the divine will’s circle; March 11 confirms from Purgatory that the circle has no opening, that its conditions are the soul’s only reality, and that its contentment is unspeakable.

Synthesis Conclusion

Dominant biblical imagination: The entry operates within the Acts 17:28 / Colossians 1:17 divine-omnipresence tradition for the fluttering-eyelash immersion; the Galatians 2:20 / Philippians 2:13 will-cessation tradition for “every will has ceased”; and the 1 Corinthians 13:12 / John 14:6 / Hebrews 4:13 face-to-face-clarity tradition for the Purgatory soul’s discernment authority.

Most load-bearing scriptural traditions: Acts 17:28 (the absolute immersion-in-God as the creature’s actual condition now brought to full consciousness in Purgatory), Galatians 2:20 taken to its completion (“every will has ceased”), and John 17:21–23 (the Trinitarian unity extended to the soul in its Purgatorial transitional form).

Most theologically significant findings:

First, the Purgatory soul confirms the February 26 teaching from within its completion: “unspeakable contentment for this Will of God” is the Purgatorial form of the “joys most ineffable” that February 26 promised within the circle. The two entries form a teaching-and-confirmation pair across the veil: February 26 (Christ teaching the doctrine) → March 11 (the Purgatory soul confirming the experience).

Second, all three DW-SEEDs are simultaneously confirmed by the Purgatory soul’s statement — the first and only instance in Volume 3 where all three are confirmed together. The Purgatory condition is the divine will theology’s realized form, and the soul’s testimony is the volume’s most authoritative corroboration of what February 26 began to teach.

Third, Hogan’s reframing of Purgatory as immersion in divine love (the fire = God who is love, the pain = the discomfort of the impure soul before the Holy) is theologically significant: it connects 1 John 4:8 (God is love) and Hebrews 12:29 (our God is a consuming fire) in a way that transforms the image of Purgatory from punitive to purificatory-through-love. The souls are not burning in an external fire but are immersed in the divine love itself — which is both the most wonderful and the most uncomfortable condition for a soul not yet fully purified. Isaiah 6:5 (the shiver of unworthiness before the divine holiness) is the earthly foretaste of this condition.

OBSERVATION NOTE

DW-SEED convergence — ALL THREE simultaneously confirmed: The March 11 Purgatory soul’s testimony is the first Volume 3 instance where all three DW-SEEDs are simultaneously confirmed by a single statement: DW-SEED-1 (divine will omnipresent, sustaining every movement), DW-SEED-2 (every action within the divine will), DW-SEED-3 (acting only to please God, now the creature’s entire being). The Purgatory condition is the three seeds’ realized form. This is the DW-SEED tracking’s most significant Volume 3 event: all three seeds confirmed in a single entry by an authoritative witness from beyond the veil.

February 26 – March 11 teaching-and-confirmation pair: The most significant doctrinal pairing since November 26–27. February 26: Christ teaches the divine will as the earthly beatitude and the soul’s circle. March 11: the Purgatory soul confirms from within the experience that the circle is total, the contentment unspeakable, the immersion absolute. The pair spans the boundary between the living and the dead, confirming the doctrine from both sides of the veil.

RP-5 (heaven on earth) — Purgatory form: The Purgatory soul’s “unspeakable contentment for this Will of God” is the RP-5 condition in its Purgatorial register: the heaven that is available in the divine will’s circle is not only for those already in glory but is the actual experienced condition of the souls being purified. The circle of the divine will is the one environment in which the soul can experience the beatitude — whether on earth (February 26), in Purgatory (March 11), or in heaven (November 27 and February 20).

Observation Notes

See this note in volume context →

03-1900-03-11

DW-SEED convergence — all three simultaneously confirmed: The March 11 Purgatory soul’s single statement simultaneously confirms DW-SEED-1 (divine will sustaining every movement), DW-SEED-2 (every action within the divine will), and DW-SEED-3 (acting only to please God as the creature’s entire being). This is the most significant DW-SEED event in Volume 3: all three seeds confirmed by an authoritative witness from beyond the veil.

February 26 – March 11 teaching-and-confirmation pair: The most significant doctrinal pairing since November 26–27. Christ teaches the divine will as the earthly beatitude (February 26); the Purgatory soul confirms from within the experience that the circle is total, the contentment unspeakable (March 11). The pair spans the veil, confirming the doctrine from both sides.

Galatians 2:20 at its completion — “every will has ceased, our will is only the Will of God” is the Pauline aspiration brought to its absolute term. The Purgatory souls have arrived where February 26’s circle of the divine will was pointing.

Hogan’s Purgatory reframing — the fire of Purgatory is God who is love (1 John 4:8 + Hebrews 12:29), the pain being the discomfort of the impure soul before the divine holiness (Isaiah 6:5 applied progressively). This transforms the Purgatory image from punitive to purificatory-through-love, consistent with the entire volume’s divine will theology.

RP-5 in its Purgatorial register — the “unspeakable contentment for this Will of God” is the heaven-on-earth available in the divine will’s circle — now confirmed as equally operative in Purgatory. The divine will’s beatitude is the one environment across earth, Purgatory, and heaven.
