02-1899-06-25 Biblical Resonance Analysis

June 25, 1899 — Three Spiritual Joys of Faith.

STAGE ONE — INDEPENDENT BIBLICAL IDENTIFICATION

1. “Since I Myself Am Faith” — The Divine Identity Declaration

“I want Faith to inundate you everywhere… and since I Myself am Faith, you would be inundated with Me, who possesses everything, can do everything and gives freely to those who trust in Me.”

Hogan’s corpus-level note: “I myself am Faith — which is what he taught us in Volume 1.” The Volume 1 identity-declaration series (I am grace, I am faith, I am hope, I am love) is the prior context for this declaration. June 25 applies the faith-declaration specifically to the confessor’s need: the inundation with faith is the inundation with the Person who is faith. The June 22 “what is my grace if not Myself?” is the same structure applied to grace; June 25 applies it to faith. The series is accumulating experiential applications of the Volume 1 doctrinal declarations.

Hebrews 12:2‘looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.’

Rationale: The Hebrews designation of Jesus as the “founder and perfecter of faith” — the one from whom faith originates and in whom it reaches completion — is the apostolic form of “I Myself am Faith.” The founder-and-perfecter formulation means that faith is not a virtue the soul generates but a participation in the One who is its source. To be inundated with faith is to be inundated with the One who founds and perfects it. The June 25 boat-inundation image — faith flooding the soul as waters flood a boat — is the experiential form of the Hebrews source-and-completion: the soul does not generate the inundation but receives it from the One who is its origin.

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Hebrews founder-and-perfecter-of-faith as the apostolic form of I-Myself-am-Faith.

Habakkuk 2:4‘Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith.’

Rationale: The Habakkuk righteous-shall-live-by-faith — the foundational Old Testament statement of the faith-as-life-principle, cited three times in the New Testament (Romans 1:17, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38) — is the Old Testament prophetic form of the faith-inundation-as-life teaching. The soul that swims in faith as the boat is inundated by the sea is the soul for whom faith is not an act performed occasionally but the element in which life is lived — the medium of existence rather than a discrete act. “Almost swimming in it” is the June 25 form of “shall live by faith”: faith as the environment, not the event.

Type: Typological — the Habakkuk righteous-shall-live-by-faith as the Old Testament prophetic form of faith-as-the-medium-of-life.

Matthew 17:20‘He said to them, “Because of your unbelief. For most certainly I tell you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.’

Rationale: The dominical nothing-will-be-impossible — the omnipotence made available through faith — is the Christological form of “who possesses everything, can do everything and gives freely to those who trust in Me.” The June 25 “can do everything” maps directly onto the dominical “nothing will be impossible for you.” The faith that inundates is not the faith that makes the soul capable independently but the faith by which the soul participates in the One who can do all things. The boat inundated with the sea does not generate the sea’s power; it is carried by it.

Type: Christological — the dominical nothing-will-be-impossible as the Christological form of the omnipotence available through faith-inundation.

James 1:5‘But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.’

Rationale: The Jacobean God-who-gives-generously-to-all — “gives freely to those who trust in Me” is the June 25 form — is the apostolic form of the divine liberality that accompanies the faith-inundation. The “without reproach” (without finding fault, without conditions beyond the asking) corresponds to the June 25 “without your thinking of what will come, of when it will, and of how you will do it.” The soul is freed from the anxious calculation of means and timing precisely because the One who gives does so generously without reproach.

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Jacobean God-who-gives-generously as the apostolic form of the divine liberality available to faith.

2. “Without Thinking of What Will Come, of When, or of How” — Faith Beyond Calculation

“Without your thinking of what will come, of when it will, and of how you will do it, I Myself will be there to assist you according to your needs.”

Matthew 6:25–34‘Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they? “Which of you by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan? Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin, yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won’t he much more clothe you, you of little faith? “Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.’

Rationale: The dominical do-not-be-anxious — the explicit prohibition of the what/when/how anxiety that Jesus now releases the confessor from — is the Christological form of the June 25 release from calculation. “Without your thinking of what will come, of when it will, and of how you will do it” is the June 25 form of “do not be anxious about your life… what you will eat, what you will drink, what you will wear.” The three anxiety-objects of Matthew 6 (food, drink, clothing) are the temporal form; the confessor’s what-will-come/when/how are the ministerial form of the same anxiety. “I Myself will be there to assist you according to your needs” is the June 25 form of “all these things will be added to you.”

Type: Christological — the dominical do-not-be-anxious as the Christological form of the release from what/when/how calculation.

Philippians 4:6–7‘In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.’

Rationale: The Pauline do-not-be-anxious-about-anything — the apostolic form of the dominical prohibition, with the peace-that-surpasses-understanding as the result — is the apostolic form of the June 25 release. The “peace of God which surpasses all understanding” is the apostolic form of faith-beyond-reason (Hogan’s application: “trust him beyond reason in all the things that are happening today”). The faith that swims without calculating what/when/how is the faith that has received the Pauline peace: it transcends the understanding that generates the calculation.

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Pauline peace-that-surpasses-understanding as the apostolic form of the faith-beyond-reason that the inundation produces.

3. First Joy: Penetrating the Things of God with Clarity

“First, you will penetrate the things of God with clarity, and in doing holy things you will feel inundated with such gladness, with such joy, as to feel as though soaked with it. This is the unction of my grace.”

1 Corinthians 2:10–12‘But to us, God revealed them through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. … But we received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is from God, that we might know the things that were freely given to us by God.’

Rationale: The Pauline Spirit-that-searches-the-depths-of-God — the divine Spirit given to the soul so that it might understand the things of God — is the apostolic form of “you will penetrate the things of God with clarity.” The Spirit who searches the depths is the one who enables the penetration; the faith-inundated soul is the soul indwelt by the Spirit who reveals what the natural understanding cannot reach. The June 19 (May 19 VIP) Hogan observation — “learned priests who walk the natural way never touch the supernatural” — is the negative form of the same teaching: without the Spirit’s searching, the penetration is impossible.

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Pauline Spirit-searching-the-depths as the apostolic form of the penetration-of-the-things-of-God.

1 John 2:20, 27‘You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. As for you, the anointing which you received from him remains in you, and you don’t need for anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is no lie, and even as it taught you, you will remain in him.’

Rationale: The Johannine anointing-that-teaches-about-everything — the chrisma given to the soul by the Holy One, enabling direct knowledge — is the apostolic form of “this is the unction of my grace.” The word “unction” (anointing/chrisma) is the direct Johannine term: the penetration with clarity is the fruit of the anointing, not of human learning. The June 25 “unction of my grace” and the 1 John 2:27 “anointing that teaches about everything” use the same term for the same reality: the divinely-given capacity to know from within rather than to be taught from without.

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Johannine unction-that-teaches-about-everything as the apostolic form of the unction-of-my-grace. Terminological convergence.

Ephesians 1:17–18‘that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, and what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,’

Rationale: The Pauline eyes-of-the-heart-enlightened — the prayer for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation that opens the interior eyes to divine knowledge — is the apostolic form of “you will penetrate the things of God with clarity.” The enlightened eyes of the heart are the organ of the penetration; the Spirit of wisdom and revelation is the source. The faith-inundation of June 25 is the condition in which this enlightenment operates: the heart inundated with faith (= with the Person who is faith) is the heart whose eyes are opened to see the things of God.

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Pauline eyes-of-the-heart-enlightened as the apostolic form of the clarity that the faith-inundation produces.

4. Second Joy: Boredom for Earthly Things, Joy for Celestial

“Second, you will feel boredom for earthly things, and you will feel joy in your heart for celestial things.”

Colossians 3:1–2‘If then you were raised together with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated on the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.’

Rationale: The Pauline set-your-minds-on-things-above — the apostolic instruction for the raised soul’s orientation — is the apostolic form of “joy for celestial things, boredom for earthly things.” The June 25 second joy is the experiential form of what Colossians 3:1–2 commands: the boredom-for-earthly is not an achieved detachment but an infused effect of the faith-inundation. The soul does not will the boredom; it receives it as the fruit of the inundation. The Pauline “set your minds” becomes in June 25 “you will feel”: the commanded orientation becomes an infused disposition.

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Pauline set-your-minds-on-things-above as the apostolic form of the joy-for-celestial/boredom-for-earthly. Second use (first at May 16).

Philippians 3:8‘Yes most certainly, and I count all things to be a loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whom I suffered the loss of all things, and count them nothing but refuse, that I may gain Christ’

Rationale: The Pauline counting-all-things-as-rubbish — the experiential boredom-for-earthly that comes from the surpassing worth of knowing Christ — is the apostolic personal testimony to the second joy. Paul’s “I count everything as loss” is the Pauline form of “you will feel boredom for earthly things”: the soul that has tasted the inundation of faith finds the earthly things not forbidden but simply uninteresting — the boredom is the fruit of the comparison, not of willpower.

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Pauline counting-all-things-as-rubbish as the apostolic personal form of the boredom-for-earthly.

5. Third Joy: Total Detachment — Where Inclination Was, Now Bother

“Third, total detachment from everything, and there, where you felt inclination in the past, you will feel bother; this I have been infusing in your heart for some time, and you are already experiencing it.”

Galatians 6:14‘But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.’

Rationale: The Pauline world-crucified-to-me — the mutual crucifixion of self and world through the cross — is the apostolic form of “total detachment from everything, and there where you felt inclination in the past, you will feel bother.” The world that has been crucified is the world that no longer attracts; the inclinations that once pulled now generate the “bother” of June 25. The Galatians 6:14 formulation is the apostolic form of the third joy in its most radical expression: not merely boredom (second joy) but the full crucifixion that makes the former inclinations actively repellent. Second use (first at May 23).

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Pauline world-crucified-to-me as the apostolic form of the total detachment where-inclination-was-now-bother. Second use.

Romans 6:6‘knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin.’

Rationale: The Pauline old-self-crucified — the body of sin brought to nothing so that the soul is no longer enslaved — is the apostolic form of the third joy’s mechanism. The “where you felt inclination” corresponds to the pulls of the old self; the “you will feel bother” corresponds to the freedom-from-slavery that the crucifixion of the old self produces. The inclination-become-bother is not willpower but transformation: the old self that generated the inclination has been “brought to nothing” by the faith-inundation.

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Pauline old-self-crucified as the apostolic form of the mechanism by which inclination becomes bother.

6. “The Joy Which Naked Souls Enjoy”

“Your heart will be inundated with the joy which naked souls enjoy, who have their hearts so inundated with my love, that they are not affected at all by the things that surround them externally.”

Hogan’s gloss: “A naked soul means that the clutter of the world is not there — it’s gone.” The nakedness is not poverty but freedom: the soul stripped of the world’s clutter, which is the condition for the love-inundation that nothing external can disturb.

Song of Songs 8:7‘Many waters can’t quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man would give all the wealth of his house for love, he would be utterly scorned.’

Rationale: The Song’s many-waters-cannot-quench-love — the love that no flood can overwhelm — is the bridal form of “not affected at all by the things that surround them externally.” The naked soul’s love-inundation is the interior state that the Song 8:7 describes from the outside: nothing external can quench or displace the love that has flooded the interior. The “many waters” that cannot quench the love correspond to the external things that cannot affect the love-inundated heart. The Song’s love-stronger-than-death and the June 25 love-that-nothing-external-can-disturb are the same reality from two angles.

Type: Typological — the Song’s many-waters-cannot-quench-love as the bridal form of the love-inundation that nothing external disturbs.

John 16:22‘Therefore you now have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart will rejoice, and no one will take your joy away from you.’

Rationale: The dominical no-one-will-take-your-joy-from-you — the joy that is immune to external removal — is the Christological form of “not affected at all by the things that surround them externally.” The joy of the naked soul is the June 25 form of the dominical joy-that-cannot-be-taken: interior, immune to external contingency, grounded in the presence of the One who is its source. The “things that surround them externally” are the would-be takers of the joy; the love-inundation is the immunity.

Type: Christological — the dominical no-one-will-take-your-joy-from-you as the Christological form of the love-inundation’s immunity to external disturbance.

Romans 8:38–39‘For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’

Rationale: The Pauline nothing-can-separate-us-from-the-love-of-God — the exhaustive list of external forces that cannot break the love-bond — is the apostolic form of “not affected at all by the things that surround them externally.” The naked soul’s immunity to external disturbance is the experiential form of the Pauline nothing-can-separate: neither height nor depth, things present nor things to come, corresponds to the June 25 “things that surround them externally.” The love that inundates the naked soul’s heart is the same love that Paul declares nothing can separate from the soul.

Type: Direct doctrinal parallel — the Pauline nothing-can-separate-us-from-the-love-of-God as the apostolic form of the love-inundation’s immunity to external disturbance.

STAGE TWO — COMPARISON WITH HOGAN’S COMMENTARY

CORRESPONDENCES

“I Myself am Faith” — Volume 1 identity-declaration series Both analyses connect the June 25 faith-declaration to the Volume 1 series. Complete convergence.

“Trust him beyond reason” Hogan’s pastoral application — “the Lord has told me to tell everybody to trust him beyond reason” — is the June 25 application of the faith-inundation to the contemporary context (great apostasy, Antichrist coming). This analysis supplies the Matthew 6:25–34 and Philippians 4:6–7 doctrinal grounding for the same teaching.

“Unction of my grace” Both analyses note the significance of the unction-language. Hogan: “very special.” This analysis identifies 1 John 2:20, 27 as the terminological anchor (chrisma = unction = the anointing that teaches).

“Naked souls” — clutter-of-the-world-gone Both analyses engage the naked-souls image. Hogan provides the pastoral gloss; this analysis supplies Song 8:7, John 16:22, and Romans 8:38–39 as the doctrinal forms.

“We’re absolutely saturated by the world through all our gadgets” — second joy application Hogan’s contemporary pastoral application of the second joy (boredom for earthly things) is her most contextually engaged observation. This analysis supplies Colossians 3:1–2 and Philippians 3:8 as the apostolic forms.

DEVIATIONS

No significant deviations. The entry is primarily a doctrinal disclosure addressed to the confessor, and Hogan’s commentary tracks its content closely, adding pastoral applications rather than alternative readings. The convergence rate is high throughout.

ADDITIONS — HERS

“We’re living in the time of the great apostasy, and the Antichrist is coming” Hogan’s most contextually bold application: the confessor’s instruction to trust beyond reason is directed not only to him personally but, through the entry, to everyone in the present age. This application places the June 25 faith-inundation teaching in eschatological context — the faith-beyond-calculation is the specifically needed form of faith for the age of apostasy, when the visible supports of faith are being removed.

“What a wonderful place to arrive at” Hogan’s closing comment on the naked-soul state — simple, pastoral, unsystematic — captures the aspirational register of the third joy more accurately than any doctrinal summary can. It should stand in any volume-wide synthesis as the pastoral summary of the three-joy teaching.

VIP / SPECIAL DESIGNATIONS

Candidate for VIP — partial: The entry’s doctrinal content is addressed primarily to the confessor, which gives it a specific rather than universal address. The three-joy teaching, however, has clear universal application (Hogan’s “we’re absolutely saturated by the world through all our gadgets” signals the pastoral universalizability). The entry falls short of full VIP designation because it lacks the explicit universal address of the May 16 or May 19 VIP entries — Jesus speaks to the confessor directly, not to all souls. The teaching is universalizable; the address is specific.

Significant entry: The three-joy schema (penetration of divine things / boredom for earthly / total detachment) is the volume’s most systematic treatment of the effects of faith-inundation, and the naked-souls image is the most compressed description of the transformed interior state yet offered. The entry merits flagging as a systematic reference for the faith-formation arc.

STAGE TWO SYNTHESIS

June 25 is the volume’s most systematic treatment of the effects of deep faith on the interior life. The three-joy schema — penetration of divine things (clarity) / boredom for earthly things (reorientation) / total detachment where inclination was now bother (transformation) — is the faith-inundation’s threefold fruit, moving from cognitive (clarity) to affective (boredom/joy) to dispositional (detachment). Together they describe the complete interior transformation that the faith-inundated soul undergoes.

The “I Myself am Faith” declaration is the doctrinal key: the faith that inundates is not a virtue the soul generates but the Person who floods the soul when trusted absolutely. The boat-inundated-by-the-sea image is the entry’s most precise: the boat does not generate the sea; it receives it. The soul does not generate faith; it is flooded by the One who is faith when it opens to trust.

The naked-soul teaching is the entry’s most concentrated image: the soul stripped of the world’s clutter (Hogan), immune to external disturbance (John 16:22, Romans 8:38–39), with interior love so complete that the exterior cannot affect it (Song 8:7). This is the positive content of what the May 26 nothingness-theology and the June 19 VIP-disappearance commanded: the soul that disappears into God is the naked soul; the disappearance produces the immunity; the immunity is the joy.

The grafted-tree promise of June 23 (total transformation of confessor, soul and body) and the three-joy teaching of June 25 are the two-entry elaboration of what that transformation looks like in concrete interior terms: the confessor grafted into the new tree will be the confessor swimming in faith, penetrating the things of God, bored with the earthly, and detached where he once inclined. June 23 is the promise; June 25 is the content of the promise.

Cross-Entry Synthesis

June 25, 1899 — Three Spiritual Joys of Faith.

Note: No VIP designation (address is confessor-specific; teaching is universalizable). Significant entry: the volume’s most systematic treatment of faith-inundation’s effects. The three-joy schema (penetration of divine things / boredom for earthly / total detachment) moves from cognitive → affective → dispositional, describing the complete interior transformation the faith-inundated soul undergoes. The naked-souls image is the most compressed description of the transformed interior state yet offered. June 23 (grafted-tree promise) and June 25 (three-joy content) form a two-entry promise-content pair. Hogan convergences: “I Myself am Faith” (Volume 1 series), unction of grace, naked-souls gloss, contemporary eschatological application. Key additions: Hebrews 12:2 (founder and perfecter of faith); Habakkuk 2:4 (righteous shall live by faith); Matthew 6:25–34 (do not be anxious); Philippians 4:6–7 (peace beyond understanding); 1 Corinthians 2:10–12 (Spirit searches the depths); 1 John 2:20, 27 (unction/chrisma); Colossians 3:1–2 (second use); Galatians 6:14 (second use); Song 8:7; John 16:22; Romans 8:38–39.

I. The Three-Joy Schema: Cognitive → Affective → Dispositional

The three joys form a coherent interior progression:

JoyMovementApostolic Form
First: penetration of divine things with clarityCognitive — the intellect opened to the things of God1 Cor 2:10–12 (Spirit searches the depths); 1 John 2:27 (unction/chrisma); Eph 1:17–18 (eyes of heart enlightened)
Second: boredom for earthly, joy for celestialAffective — the desire reoriented away from the worldCol 3:1–2 (set your minds above); Phil 3:8 (count all as rubbish)
Third: total detachment — where inclination was, now botherDispositional — the very pulls of the old self invertedGal 6:14 (world crucified to me, second use); Rom 6:6 (old self crucified)

The progression is not merely sequential but cumulative: the cognitive opening (first joy) produces the affective reorientation (second joy), and the affective reorientation deepens into the dispositional transformation (third joy). Together they describe the soul that has been so thoroughly inundated with faith (= with the Person who is faith) that its entire interior structure has been reorganized around the divine.

The key doctrinal ground: the transformation is not achieved by willpower but received as fruit. Jesus says “I will infuse” — the infusion is divine; the soul’s part is the “almost swimming in it,” the active receptivity to the flood. The distinction between active receptivity (swimming) and self-generated virtue (forcing one’s way to clarity, boredom, detachment) is the June 25 form of the May 26 nothingness-theology: the soul that knows it can do nothing apart from Christ (John 15:5) is the soul that receives the inundation. The soul that tries to generate the three joys by its own effort has missed the teaching entirely.

II. “I Myself Am Faith”: The Volume 1 Identity-Declarations in Progressive Application

The Volume 1 series (I am grace / I am faith / I am hope / I am love) has now been applied experientially in at least three June entries:

  • June 22: “What is my grace if not Myself?” — the grace-as-the-Giver corrects Luisa’s fear of abandonment
  • June 25: “Since I Myself am Faith” — the faith-as-the-Person grounds the three-joy teaching for the confessor

Each application follows the same structure: the divine who declared the identity in Volume 1 now applies it to a specific pastoral situation, making the abstract declaration into an enacted teaching. The pattern suggests that the entire Volume 1 identity-series will be applied situationally throughout the corpus — each attribute receives its experiential deployment when the pastoral need arises.

The Hebrews 12:2 connection is the apostolic confirmation of the structure: Jesus as “founder and perfecter of faith” means that faith originates in him and is completed by him — the soul does not generate faith but receives it from the One who is its source. The boat-inundation image enacts this precisely: the boat does not produce the sea; it is flooded by what was always already there, waiting for the opening.

III. The Faith-Beyond-Calculation Teaching: Phase Two’s Operative Posture

Hogan’s pastoral application — “trust him beyond reason in all the things that are happening today and will happen in the future” — identifies the June 25 faith-inundation teaching as the operative posture for Phase Two.

The Phase One arc (June 2–19) formed the soul in nothingness, detachment, purity of intention, and the VIP command to disappear into God. Phase Two (June 19 onward) requires a different form of the same posture: the active receptivity to the divine in circumstances that calculation cannot resolve. “Without your thinking of what will come, of when it will, and of how you will do it” is the Phase Two form of the Phase One “disappear into God” command — not passive resignation but active trust that relinquishes the calculations that would undermine the trust.

The Matthew 6:25–34 dominical form (do not be anxious about what/when/how) and the Philippians 4:6–7 apostolic form (peace that surpasses understanding will guard your hearts) together constitute the canonical biblical theology of this posture. The June 25 application of this posture to the confessor — in the context of the grafted-tree promise, the health-and-sanctification intercession, and the chastisements threatening the region — is the pastoral deployment of the Phase Two operative stance.

IV. The Naked-Soul Image: The Positive Form of the Phase One Commands

The June 25 naked-souls image is the positive content of what several Phase One commands point toward:

  • June 2: The shadow that knows itself only by the Sun’s shining → the naked soul is the shadow fully exposed to the Sun, with nothing between
  • June 19 VIP: “Disappear into God” → the naked soul is the disappeared soul, the one in whom the created clutter is gone
  • May 26: Enter the nothingness, then fly into the immense sea → the naked soul has completed the flight; the immense sea is the love-inundation

The naked soul is not a soul that has suffered privation but a soul that has been freed from what was never its own. Hogan: “the clutter of the world is not there — it’s gone.” The clutter was always extraneous; its removal is liberation, not loss. The “what a wonderful place to arrive at” closing registers this correctly: it is arrival, not deprivation.

The three-text cluster for the naked soul’s immunity — Song 8:7 (many waters cannot quench love), John 16:22 (no one will take your joy from you), Romans 8:38–39 (nothing can separate us from the love of God) — constitutes the canonical biblical theology of the interior immunity that the naked-soul state produces. These three texts should be treated as a cluster for any subsequent entry that engages the theme of interior immunity to external disturbance.

V. June 23 Promise / June 25 Content: The Confessor-Arc Two-Entry Sequence

The June 23 grafted-tree promise (“the old tree can no longer be recognized, in the soul or in the body”) and the June 25 three-joy teaching form a promise-content pair:

  • June 23: What the transformation will accomplish — the old self supplanted, the new nature unrecognizable from the old
  • June 25: How the transformation proceeds interiorly — the three joys as the stages of the faith-inundation’s work in the soul

The “I have been infusing in your heart for some time, and you are already experiencing it” of the third joy (total detachment) is the June 25 confirmation that the grafted-tree process has already begun: the confessor is not receiving a future promise but the naming of a process already underway. This is the pastoral analogue of the June 19 VIP teaching: the command (or in this case the promise) names what the soul is already being formed toward, so that it can cooperate consciously with what the divine has already initiated.

SYNTHESIS CONCLUSION

June 25 delivers the volume’s most systematic treatment of the interior effects of faith, organized as a three-stage cognitive-affective-dispositional schema, grounded in the “I Myself am Faith” identity-declaration, and oriented toward the naked-soul state that the Phase One commands pointed toward without fully naming.

Three contributions of lasting significance:

First: The three-joy schema (penetration / boredom-joy / detachment) is now the canonical reference for the faith-inundation’s interior effects. Any subsequent entry describing similar interior states should be cross-referenced to June 25.

Second: The naked-soul image and its immunity-cluster (Song 8:7, John 16:22, Romans 8:38–39) is the positive description of the Phase One disappearance-into-God. Any volume-wide synthesis should establish this as the positive term for what the entire Phase One arc was building toward.

Third: The faith-beyond-calculation posture (“without thinking of what will come, when, or how”) is the Phase Two operative stance — the form that trust takes in the circumstances that calculation cannot resolve. Combined with Hogan’s eschatological application (apostasy, coming Antichrist), this teaching has the most explicit contemporary relevance of any entry in the June sequence.

02-1899-06-25

The three-joy schema (penetration / boredom-joy / total detachment) is now the canonical reference for faith-inundation’s interior effects. Any subsequent entry describing similar interior states cross-references here.

The naked-soul immunity cluster (Song 8:7, John 16:22, Romans 8:38–39) is now logged as a standing three-text reference for interior immunity to external disturbance.

The Volume 1 identity-declaration applications are accumulating: “I am grace” (June 22) → “I am faith” (June 25).

The June 23 / June 25 promise-content pair is now formally identified: the grafted-tree promise named what; the three-joy teaching names how. Track whether subsequent confessor entries show evidence of the process continuing or completing.

The faith-beyond-calculation posture is identified as the Phase Two operative stance. Hogan’s eschatological application (great apostasy / Antichrist) is the most contextually bold commentary observation in the June sequence to this point — worth flagging in any volume-wide synthesis as the entry with the most explicit contemporary address.

Galatians 6:14 second use (May 23, June 25) and Colossians 3:1–2 second use (May 16, June 25) both logged.
